2011 Year End Awards Banquet
Having completed three years as President of the CHJA, I cansay it has been a pleasure. The membership continues to besupportive and eager to participate in the many shows provided.The Medal Finals was again well attended and with the help of many volunteers and committee people ran very smoothly.As I stated in my last presidents letter, the support staff of theCHJA is phenomenal and the organization could not operateas well without them. We owe a deep vote of thanks to the various committees: Membership, Standards, Banquet, Scholarship,Equitation, and all the others which comprise our CHJA Board.Without all the tireless hours of time contributed we would nothave such a well oiled organization. My job as president ismade ever so much easier by these wonderful people. Duringthese difficult times the CHJA has continued to thrive and I believe this will be the case in the years ahead.
Our love of horses and this sport is the common thread thatbrings us together. Let’s continue to work toward improving ourorganization. The board welcomes any and all suggestionstoward this goal and will consider them. So please feel free tocome forward and talk to any one of us. I am looking forward to a Happy and Prosperous 2012 show year.

Career Achievement Award
“BRAVE” AWARD
Given by Matt Couzens in honor of “Sherwood Forest”, known as “Brave”.
Presented to a horse or pony who has excelledin competition over many years and with manyriders and who serves as an ambassador of our sport by contributing to its growth througha kind and brave temperament wrapped inexceptional talent.
Walk In The Park“He is the best pony in the whole world! He hastaught many little girls how to ride and become agreat rider…he took me from being a scared walktrotter to winning a walk trot final. He taught me andothers how to form a partnership with their pony. He gives you the confidence that makes you feel thatyou can do anything. His heart is as big as his bellyand trust me his belly is very big!”
Sadly Walk In The Park died in December after being selected to win the Lifetime Achievement Awardin recognition of the many years he spent teaching
young riders our wonderful sport. We honor himtonight with the “Brave Award”…a special
award for a very special pony.

Heaven Bound Award
HEAVEN BOUND AWARD
Given by the Hyyppa Family in honor of“Heaven Bound”.
Awarded to a special “competitor” and “teacher”who touched and influenced many lives.
Special Dark“He was an incredible school horse. He was the perfectpartner to introduce any rider to horse shows. Hiscanter was like a metronome and he had an inner senseof how to lengthen or shorten his stride to accom-modate the timing of the rider. Starbuck competed inthe CHJA and CHSA Finals many times with manyriders. He was a CHJA Year End Champion in 2009,Modified Adult Equitation Champion in 2007 andPre Children’s Hunter Reserve Champion in 2006...together we taught over 5,000 lessons in the 10 yearshe was at River’s Edge Farm…whatever you asked ofhim he gave it. He truly had the heart of a Champion!”
This award is presented annually to recognizeand honor someone who has given unselfishly toour sport and to the CHJA, above and beyondpersonal interests. The recipient of this award ischosen by the CHJA President to be honored bythe Membership at the Annual Banquet.
