Changes in Candidate Support
Due to limited funding, it is not known if there will be a statewide candidate support program.
Candidates may—
• Contact NBCTs locally or in their certificate to see if the NBCT would volunteer to mentor.
• Contact administrators or NBCTs in schools or districts to see if there is a candidate support program available.
• Visit the NBRC at ISU website to find working agendas and handouts to support individual candidates to work through parts of the process.

Go to the NBPTS web site: www.nbpts.org Click on “For Candidates”.
Then click on the link that says “Certificate Areas”.
Scroll down and select the subject area (or generalist) and the correct development area (early childhood, middle childhood etc.) that matches your teaching assignment.
Then download and review the “Assessment at a Glance.” Highlight every place where you see your practice. Decide whether or not this process will a good fit for you at this time.)

1. Apply to NBPTS and pay the $65. (Do NOT pay the $500 non-refundable fee.)
2. Then go to the NBRC at ISU website to print the application for the Illinois NBPTS Candidate Fee Subsidy.
3. Complete the Illinois application accurately, completely, and legibly.
4. Fax the completed Illinois NBPTS Candidate Fee Subsidy Application to the NBRC at ISU.
