In 2010 when the first iPad came out I knew a new era of computing had arrived. All the ideas that had been percolating in my brain about a simpler, more affordable paperless dental practice management software (DPMS) now had a vehicle for realization. Now nearly three years later Unident Software Company has been able to fulfill its mission to create affordable DPMS whose patented touch friendly interface makes it easy to teach, learn and use. In fact, the revolutionary Axex Dental™ has surpassed even my own expectations by being the most reliable system on the market along with its simplicity and affordability.

But every revolutionary product needs a special kind of person in order to get off the ground, an evangelist who will bring word of incredible products to the masses by the simple act of using such products. The early adopter is a visionary person who sees the potential benefits of a product before anyone else does. The early adopter is not only a visionary, but a person of action who reaps the benefits of said product sooner than anyone else by taking the risk and making the product their own. Like Christopher Columbus, who despite not being the first to understand the world was round, but was the first to take action on his belief, the early adopter will reap early benefits and new horizons before anyone else gets there.

By joining Axex Dental’s Early Adopter Program, you have become that explorer. As an early adopter I would like to invite you not to look at yourself as a lab rat or guinea pig. That distinction belongs to my wife’s dental practice, which has been patiently testing our software over the last six months. Instead, picture yourself a lab partner. Over the next few months you will be our partner in discovering how to fine tune Axex Dental™ to better serve the dental profession. There will be challenges. As careful as we have been to test our software in both our office and my wife’s dental practice, there will probably still be bugs that will need to be squashed. You may also help us discover incomplete or missing features we could have included. Every one of these will make the software a better fit for your office as well as for the future user.

The Hardest Part Is Over: You’ve found the most exciting, affordable, and revolutionary dental

practice management software available today. Your decision to partner with the Axex Dental™ team

will make your practice more productive and profitable by getting the most out of what modern

computing technology can provide. Not totally tech savvy? Don’t worry. We’ve made it easy.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

1. Computer: You will need a computer to operate Axex Dental™.

MAC or Linux: If you have a Mac or a Linux based computer you already have everything you

need to get started. Wasn’t that easy? We generally find Mac and Linux systems to be easier to work

with, but don’t worry we can get you started with a Windows based computer too.

Windows based PC: You need to complete a couple of extra steps in order to use Axex

Dental™.

a. First, you need to install a simple program called

Bonjour. Don’t worry it’s easy and you’ll be glad you did it.

Bonjour is also known as zero-configuration networking, and

while it may sound technical, it’s a snap to use and will make

locating devices on your network automatic.

b. Next you need to install a web browser. We

recommend using Chrome. Chrome is a smooth and fast

browser that you can download for free and works really

well with our software. However, if you are totally

committed to using another browser, for whatever reason,

you can. Our software will work with any browser except for

Internet Explorer.

2. Network With Internet Connection: Next you need a router and a reliable internet

connection. The router will be the hub used to create a network of your computers and devices and

enable them all to connect to the internet. You can use a wired or wireless router to set up your

network, but we recommend a wireless N - 802.11n router. A wireless n router will provide decently

fast connections across sufficient distances for a

dental office and the wireless feature will provide a lot of

flexibility and convenience in the future.

And with that simple list you now have all you technically need to procure to

use Axex Dental™. However, there are a few optional items that you may want to consider.

These are not must-have items, but they are things that you may want to add.

Optional Equipment

Uninterruptible Power Supply: You may want to add an uninterruptible power supply (UPS)

to your system to always keep power on your router and the Unident server that comes with

Axex Dental™. UPS devices are affordable and can save you a lot of headaches. A blackout at

your location can cause you to lose data or a power surge can damage your equipment. A UPS can

prevent this. We recommend a unit with 1500VA (volt amps) and 900W (watts).

Tablets: We think you would be very productive using our software on a tablet and would also

enjoy the experience. Our software was designed to take full advantage of touch interfaces and to

eliminate as much typing as possible. Some of our features just plain work better on tablets. We

think you will find Axex Dental™ to be intuitive, fast, and even elegant on a tablet.

The iPad: The iPad is the tablet we designed much of Axex Dental™ on, and it is a tried and

tested platform for our software. We feel this is currently the single best device to use our product

with.

Turnkey Solutions: We strive to make setup of Axex Dental™ as easy

as possible for our do-it- yourself customers. If you have set up a home

network or are gadget oriented at all you will likely be able to install

everything yourself. However, if you are not comfortable with computers or

you are just too busy with your practice, the Axex Dental™ team would be

happy to provide you with installation services at reasonable rates. We can

provide a complete turnkey solution for your practice.   

Android: Various makers produce tablets using

the Android operating system and it is a platform

we are working with. You can use an Android

tablet with Axex Dental™ but your mileage may

vary. We are working to soon have our product

working as smoothly on these tablets as it does

the iPad.

INSTALLATION PROCESS

So the day has arrived and you are ready to install Axex Dental™ in your office! Yay! Now don’t worry

setup is an easy straightforward process that will be a breeze to complete.

Just follow these steps.

Congratulations! Your professional life just got easier. You are ready

to use Axex Dental’s™ superior software in your office.

Step 1: Plug an ethernet cable from

the first ethernet port (a) located on

the back of the Unident Magic Cloud

Box to an open port (b) in the back of

your router or switch.

Step 2: Plug the power cord to the

DC port (c) located on the back of

the Unident Magic Cloud Box to a

surge protector or uninterruptible

power supply aka UPS (d).

Step 3: Press and release the power

button in the front of the Unident

Magic Cloud Box and wait until you

hear two beeps.

Step 1: On any computer connected to

the local network type “http://

axexdental.local” on the address

bar of google “Chrome” web browser

and press enter.

Step 2: Select Administrator from the

login screen and enter the password:

“axexdental1”

Step 3: Follow the instructions of the initial setup wizard if no information was migrated to

this unit. (You will only have to do this once, on the first computer you connect to the

software)

Keep Your Old System: We invite you to keep your old system (whether paper

or electronic) going during the free period we offer you Axex Dental™. We think

our dental practice management software will be the best on the market and provide

this free period at no risk to you. We want you to feel comfortable and confident

when you make the transition to our product and welcome you to send us any

suggestions or comments that you have about Axex Dental™. We want you as a

ABOUT SSL CERTIFICATION

Axex Dental™ uses the internet standard security protocol Secure Sockets Layer or

SSL. This allows greater security on the communication going to and from our

server by preventing 3rd parties to “listen in” to the communication. In most cases

this is represented by the addition of an “s” on the http part of the url e.g. “https://

something.com” and a green lock to the left of the url. In order to take full

advantage of this feature you will have to download a certificate of authentication from our site and

install it. These are the instructions to do so.

Step 1: Direct your browser to http://ca.axexdental.com, you will be prompted to download a file. Be

aware the file may download immediately without prompting. It should take a few seconds to download.

Step 2: Mac OS X 10.6 or

greater- double click on the

downloaded file to add to

keychain. Done. Windows

XP or greater (Google

Chrome)

1. Select the stacked three line icon to the right of the address bar

2. Select “settings” from the drop down menu

3. Select “show advanced settings” from the bottom of screen.

4. Under the heading titled “HTTPS/SSL” select the Manage Certificates button.

5. Select “import” from personal tab.

6. Select file “download.cer” from Downloads folder in your computer.

7. Select “open” and then “done.”
