Happy Feast Day! Today, on the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, we celebrate the feast day of our parish. We can take great pleasure in looking around and seeing such an active, friendly Faith Community, founded in 1898, and as vigorous as ever in worship, education, community building and outreach.

If you did not pick up a copy of the large, white leaflet “ERECTING AN EDIFYING EDIFICE,” please do so at the back of the church. It contains a summary of the building and re-building of our parish, “pastor-by-pastor,” over the past 118 years! What a parish! What a Christ-like Community of true believers. Thank you! * * * * * * * *

Welcome, Bishop O’Hara! We are delighted to have had His Excellency, Bishop John O’Hara, D.D., our Episcopal Vicar, celebrate the Saturday, 5:30 Mass. This is his first visit to Holy Trinity, and we hope he knows he always has an open invitation to join us for worship and fellowship.

It’s Only Two Weeks Away! Better Call Your Group Leader!

Annual Parish VOLUNTEER Dinner Monday, June 6th, 6:00 PM

As we do every year, out of profound appreciation for all those ADULT parishioners (and their spouses) who worked for our parish throughout the Parish Year (2015-2016), on a purely voluntary basis, we will gather for a sit-down dinner at SCALETTA RESTAURANT on West 77th Street on Monday evening, June 6th. If you belong to a parish group (e.g., Parish or Financial Councils, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers), call your group leader, and they will pass along the number of attendees to the rectory. If you do NOT belong to a parish group (e.g., trustee, church decorator, etc.), and have worked for our parish, throughout the Parish Year (2015-2016), on a purely voluntary basis, call the rectory and leave your name(s).

One of the most consoling sentiments I have ever read may be found in the New Testament: ”Eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and it has not even entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

“Protecting Our Children” Annual Priests’ Safe Environment Training Day

As required for years now, all of our priests will be attending the annual meeting at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie on either June 8th or June 9th. Please pray for your priests and deacons who have the gravest responsibility to protect and guide all of us, but especially our youngsters, our most precious gifts from God. * * * * * * * *

THE MOST HOLY TRINITY First Reading: Proverbs 8:22-31 God created Wisdom before he created the earth or the skies. This spirit stood beside God, then "found delight in the people of the earth." The spirit of wisdom was later personified by Jesus. Second Reading: Romans 5:1-5 Paul says that we are now at peace with God through our faith in Jesus. This hope will not leave us disappointed because of the love God has shown in sending us the Holy Spirit. Gospel: John 16:12-15 Jesus tells the disciples that when he leaves a Spirit will guide them and will announce what he hears from Jesus. rather than speaking on his own. Everything God has also belongs to Jesus; things announced by the Spirit will come from Jesus.

©2000 Bon Venture Services, Inc. * * * * * * * * A Reflection – “GOD HAS BEEN POURED OUT …” “Today the Church reflects on the character of God as expressed in our foundational understanding of the Trinity. Dogmatic theolo-gians tell us that the language of ‘three Persons in one God’ ultimately intends to communicate what I John 4:8 states so concisely: ‘God is love.’ The early Church required nearly three centuries to agree upon this formulation so this dogma as such cannot be read back into the Scriptures. At the same time, both the Old and New Testaments provide the basis for its develop-ment. Paul captures divine self-giving to humanity through Christ in one word: grace. The Greek word charis literally means ‘gift.’”
