EXCHANGE BLOCK DRAWING We will have the drawing for the Rising Star ex-
change block at the December meeting. Some
really pretty blocks have been turned in, hope-
fully we will have enough blocks so that we can
have at least 2 winners. Remem-
ber to attach your name to each
finished block. Sylvia Dowdle / Yvonne

DECEMBER LUNCHEON
It’s time for our December Luncheon. First, I
would like to thank all the ladies that volunteered to
help with the luncheon. Your help makes my job so
easy! This luncheon has always been one of my
favorite meetings and I hope everyone enjoys them-
selves. Please remember to bring a serving utensil
with your covered dish. Also, please slice your des-
serts( pies, cakes, brownies) before you come.
There will be a basket available for donations
($7.00) if you are unable to bring some-
thing. Thanks again for making our luncheons such
a fun time.

Dear Members,
As I write this, we are planning our first
Thanksgiving in our new home. We have so much to be
thankful for and my quilting friends are high on my list
of blessings. I’m happy to report my sewing equipment
and fabric are out of storage and a little progress has
been made toward being settled. One of my first pro-
jects was making the Rising Star blocks for the ex-
change at the Dec. meeting. Thanks to Sylvia Dowdle
and Yvonne Taylor for organizing this activity.
Many veterans were honored with Quilts of
Valor during November. But we keep hearing of many
others who are deserving of our thanks The Old Sew
and Sews had a special Saturday session this month
with a reporter from Channel 10 interviewing and film-
ing as they worked on Quilts of Valor. It was heart-
warming to hear their personal stories.
Thanks to Lola Terranova who agreed to col-
lect donations for the Child Advocacy Center. Many
thanks to Anne Godwin who had been doing this.
Kudos to the Night Guild for collecting and
THANK YOU
I wanted to thank you for the pet pillow donations
we received recently! The dogs (and cats) appre-
ciate them!

OAKLEIGH NEEDS QUILTS
A representative from Oakleigh contacted me with a
request. They will be starting up their Christmas candle-
light tours again Dec 1st, and they would like to display
a few Christmas quilts - ones that look antique and are
in red and green. They are looking for one bed quilt and
two lap or throw sized quilts, all in Christmas colors if
not motif, and would need the quilt from Dec 1st
through the 31st. If you have a quilt that meets their re-
quirements that you would be willing to loan them for
that month, please contact me.
Thanks, Susan Mogan 458-0246 or
GSQA The next quarterly meeting is January 23rd in Slidell. That is the weekend of our Retreat at Beckwith.
The Rosebud Auction is April 2nd, and our guild will be preparing a basket to be auctioned off. The theme this year is
Stonehenge fabrics. Please help us out by donating Stonehenge fabrics-- a yard, a fat quarter, some 2 1/2" strips or
charm squares or 10" squares. Last year our baskets were among the biggest money-makers. The auction proceeds pay
for quilt show expenses like hanging. Tickets are $30 and must be paid for in advance.
The Quilt Show will be April 7-9 in Slidell.
GSQA renewals are due the same month of the original membership, so check your cards. Let me know when you
join or renew for my annual report.
Any questions about GSQA, call or email Judy Reeves.
donating $73.00 to Life Gate at Christ United Method-
ist Church for Thanksgiving turkeys.
Judy Reeves is reminding you of the resolu-
tions you made last Jan. and Feb. More of us should set
a resolution in Jan. to be accomplished during 2016.
Resolving to help with the QOV program would be a
great start for all of us.
A great resolution for one or two of you would
be to become Chairman of the ACQG Quilt Show
2017. It is time to think seriously of this. It would be a
great opportunity to show your creativity and organiza-
tional skills. Please speak to me and I’ll be happy to
discuss possibilities with you.
I’m looking forward to our Dec. meeting and
luncheon and to a Show and Tell
of Christmas quilts and projects.
Merry Christmas and Happy New
Year to all of you and your fami-
lies. Enjoy your holidays and keep
smiling and stitching.

JANUARY PROGRAM
For our January meeting, Melinda Bula will present our program on Tuesday morning. She will teach her Hibis-
cus class on Tuesday afternoon after lunch and all day on Wednesday. The cost will be $55 per student with a
limit of 25 students. A copy of the pattern will be available from Melinda for $15 payable to her. Also, for $50
she will provide a fabric kit for the flower - you provide the green and the background and choose yellow, orange
or red for your flower. Please come prepared to choose your flower color when you sign up for the class and make
your $55 payment. This exciting opportunity is provided to us by GSQA as she will be touring the Gulf Coast for
over 2 weeks with no free time. She will be starting her journey in Mobile. Class size is limited and will be of-
fered on a first come first serve basis. Other guilds will also have her within our region, so if we fill up, you may
be able to help fill another not so-full-class. See me or Barbara Smith to sign up at the guild meetings for this extra
workshop. You are not signed up until fees are paid. See Melinda Bula dot com for more information on this
teacher.

QOV - that is just the ones I know about. A big thank
you to Sassy Stitchers for about 25 of those quilts, and to
Cathy Wilson and crew who awarded 20 at her
church. The rest have come from various guild mem-
bers and have been awarded at ACQG, County Commis-
sion, City Council, Executive Women International,
DAR, Azalea City Republican Women, and several local
churches.
Thanks to all of those who helped in this years pro-
ject. We even donated 2 doggy beds to the service ani-
