Reflections on the

COVER PAGE

The origin al Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar

Parab published un der the column ‘Mukhaprushtha

Pahatan a’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the mon th of

September 2015 has been excellen tly tran slated in to

En glish by Shri Nitin Tawde (YVN's Yoga & Naturo-

Therapist). The said En glish version of Shri

Shreedhar Parab's article in Marathi is bein g

published hereun der with profoun d than ks to Shri

Nitin Tawde (Mob. : 9819186655).

The beautiful picture on the cover page of the 1st

prize winning poster of YTTC - Vashi student

Ms Shubhada Kasle from this year’s ‘Poster

Competition’ and its caption ‘Dinacharya of a Yoga

Sadhaka’ distinctly reminded of the Ayurveda which

speaks about the science of healthy life and serves as

complimentary to the Yogic science. Inspired by two

prime objectives, ‘Health Protection’ and ‘Cure from

the disease’, Ayurveda has given a lot of emphasis to ‘Swasthavritta’

which means ‘Dinacharya’ (a daily regime which an individual should

follow) and ‘Ritucharya’. ‘Dinacharya means the guideline about planning

our daily regime suitable for our health so as to maintain harmony

between Nature and body considering changes taking place in external

environment every ‘Prahar’ and ‘Tridosha’ – Vata, Pitta and Kapha – in

our body. The proportion of ‘Tridosha’ in our body changes according to

changes in the season. Gradual changes are taking place in body too as

per the climatic changes. Accordingly, how to make suitable changes in

our ‘diet, recreation and rest’ moderately, is explained in ‘Ritucharya’ of

Ayurveda. If we wisely organise and plan our daily schedule in

accordance with the Laws of Nature and adopt a lifestyle that is

supportive to good health then it will be much easier to lead a sound,

happy, content life.

Time of about two hours before the sunrise is considered as ‘Brahma

Muhurta’. At this hour, the entire atmosphere is filled with peace, purity

and pleasantness. Therefore, in Ayurvedic Dincharya, it is expected to

get up at least one to one and half hour before sunrise after having

sufficient sleep, followed by elimination or excretion of natural urges

during the day and finally to retire to bed at night by nine thirty or ten.

As per the principle "qnS>r Vo ~«÷m§S>r' whatever that exists in Universe also

exists within our body. Therefore, it must be accepted that, whatever

that happens in Nature has a direct or indirect effect on our

psychological as well as physical personality and eventually on our entire

health. Morning, afternoon, evening and night are the variations

experienced in the Nature. Similarly, three times, in 24 hours, within our

human body too, secretion of hormones from the endocrine glands

undergo important variations about every eight hours cycle. Accordingly,

from 4 am in the dawn to 12 noon is the Elimination Phase. During this

period it is expected to excrete urine, faecal matter, Vata, etc. as also to

perform the ‘Shuddhi Kriya’ for cleansing of the five sense organs, to

exercise Soorya Namaskar, to brisk walk, to jog, to play or to do any

other useful exercise and thereby remove toxins from the body, to take

bath and to perform Yogic practices like Asana, Pranayama, etc. for

psychosomatic cleansing.

From 12 noon to 8 in the night is the Digestion Phase of the body.

Having both meals of the day during this period is actually considered as

an ideal Dinacharya, because from 12 noon till sunset is the natural

secretion period of insulin. Hence, as the sun rises our digestive fire

kindles more. Therefore, the meal taken between 11 am to 1 pm must

be our main meal. Aahar doesn’t mean only the food intake. As per the

comprehensive concept of Aahar, whatever we take in our personality

Page 5: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

through our five sense organs is our Aahar. The constituents of food or

of intake by five sense organs can vary in ‘Gunas’ – Satvik, Rajasik and

Tamasik as per the requirement and desire of every individual. The

prominence of Satvik Guna in Aahar is beneficial for the overall health

and personality development of the individual. It is advisable to lie down

on the left side (Vamakukshi) after the meal in the afternoon, if possible,

so that the Soorya Nadi that flows through the right nostril is activated

which especially helps the digestion.

The dinner generally has to be light and less in quantity because the

digestive fire is somewhat low during this period. It is ideal to have

dinner before 8 pm. Thereafter influence of the Sun goes on diminishing.

Therefore, the dinner after 9 pm is somewhat difficult to digest and

could lead to many health related complaints. It is better to walk

leisurely in the open (Shatapavali) instead of retiring to bed immediately

after dinner. This helps in digestion of most of the food before sleep.

Afterwards one should read for relaxing the mind, contemplate, pray,

meditate, etc. for some time and then sleep with peaceful mind. From

8 pm to 4 am in morning is the period of repair phase in which the body

recoups the wear and tear and it is expected to have deep and sound

sleep during this period. Just like Aahar, the sleep and other rest period

too shall be in tandem with the cycle of Nature. Sun is the symbol of life.

Therefore, when the Sun is shining in the sky, with the exception of old

and sick people, it is unnatural for all others to sleep for more than one

hour to one and half hour as this leads to imbalance in Dosha and is

harmful for the health. Similarly, all the activities in the Nature slowly

come to halt when the effect of Sun reduces with sunset. At such time,

going against the natural cycle by remaining awake for long hours at

night is like inviting diseases. All our movements, activities,

contemplation during the daytime fall under our psychosomatic

recreation. Like the intake and relaxation of the five sensory organs,

individual’s total activities should be in accordance with the cycle of the

nature. Similar to the intake and rest, individual’s Vihar (activites) too

Page 6: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

could be consisting of Satvik, Rajasik and Tamasik Guna. In Vihar too ,

Satvik Guna should be in abundance. Thus, if it becomes possible to

make Aahar, Vihar and Vishranti full of Satvik Guna and also to maintain

harmony with the Nature Cycle, then it is easy to lead a healthy life

which is happy, peaceful and content too. Yogeshwar Shri Krishna himself

has narrated in the following Shloka from Bhagavat Gita, how important

it is for the Yoga Sadhaka to follow an ideal Dinacharya which is rich with

Satvik Guna in Aahar, Vihar and Vishranti –

`wŠVmhma{dhmañ` `wŠVMoï>ñ` H$_©gw&`wŠVñdßZmd~moYñ` `moJmo ^d{V Xþ…Ihm&& (^.JrVm-6.17)

Bhagwan ShriKrishna says, the Yoga that destroys all miseries is

achievable only to those Sadhaka who follow the proper regime of

Aahar, Vihar, Vishranti, follow good and proper behaviour in conduct

(karma) and whose sleep and awake cycle is proper.

After reading this, a devout Sadhaka will certainly agree with the

importance of this ideal Dinacharya. However, there is a possibility that

a big question mark may be raised in many peoples mind whether such

Dinacharya can actually be adopted in today’s scenario. Today, right from

the school going children to the working adults or businessmen, many

have to stay away from home for major period of time. These days

everybody, knowingly or unknowingly, is living a mechanical, hectic life

full of stress and tensions for maximum hours of the day. Nowadays

everyone is so much preoccupied in the rat race of achieving maximum

worldly progress in minimum period, that it is not possible for him to

give enough time for his own health or he doesn’t even feel it necessary

to give any priority to it. Therefore, such people do not find anything

wrong in quickly grabbing whatever food that is available at any hour

and to lead a stressful life by working day-night to accomplish their

desires at the earliest. Most of the time it is overlooked that such a

harmful lifestyle is affecting our health adversely. Some people resort to

addictions when the burden of stress and tension becomes unbearable.

Many people prefer to spend most of their time in the company of so

Page 7: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

called entertaining and educational gadgets of modern era like

television, laptops, mobile, video games, computers, internet, etc. as a

easy mode of entertainment and recreation. It will not be surprising

then, if many people find it impossible to retire to bed early and to get

up one hour or so before the sunrise.

Yoga Sadhakas need not get much disheartened even if the

surrounding situation is so disappointing. The main reason why a devout

Yoga Sadhaka doesn’t find it much difficult to follow this ideal

Dinacharya which commoners find impossible to follow, is found hidden

in the following Sutra from the Patanjal Yoga Darshana by Maharshi

Patanjali –

`moJmL>JmZwð>mZmXew{Õj`o kmZXr{ßVam{ddoH$»`mVo…& (nm.`mo.gy. 2-28)It means the impurities of Citta are removed and flame of wisdom shines

with the practice of eight limbs of Yoga – Yama, Niyama, Asana,

Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhanya and Samadhi. Then with the

rational intellect, it is realised that the Seer Purusha is different from the

Seen Prakriti. Although Maharshi Patanjali has stated in this aphorism

how the rational intellect acquired through continuous and prolonged

practice of Ashtanga Yoga helps in achieving the ultimate spiritual goal

of Yoga, it also shows a ray of hope for the Yoga Sadhaka that the

strengthening rational intellect through Yoga practice will provide vigour

to him for following the ideal Dinacharya of Aahar, Vihar and Vishranti.

Therefore, this aphorism from Patanjal Yoga Darshana is very important

from the view of Yoga Sadhaka’s Dinacharya. The rational intellect of the

Yoga Sadhaka who practices Yoga properly and regularly, goes on

strengthening over the period, to understand what’s best for his health

and for the overall life and decide and act accordingly with

determination. With Yogabhyas, Sadhaka achieves the firm rational

intellect to move away from ‘Preyas’ – things that are liked at first glance,

giving only momentary satisfaction but ultimately proving harmful and

to accept ‘Shreyas’ - things that appear strenuous and unwanted at

times but finally proving beneficial. Therefore, even in the present

Page 8: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

`moJdmVm©

adverse situation, Yoga Sadhaka can do continuous sincere efforts to

practice ideal Dinacharya to the extent possible. With this, the damaged

lifestyle gradually goes on improving. It is the experience of many Yoga

Sadhaka that the Yoga Sadhaka who tries his best possible conduct in all

respect, pertaining to Aahar, Vihar, Vishranti and tries to follow the

ideal Dinacharya, definitely starts getting rewarded with some or the

other delightful powers (Siddhi). For example, such a Yoga Sadhaka

experiences necessary complete rest with much lesser sleep than earlier

because his sleep is sound and regular. Therefore, such Yoga Sadhaka

never has to face any problem in getting up early morning or not finding

enough time regularly for his Yoga Sadhana. Such Yoga Sadhaka then

takes care to have best possible Aahar, Vihar and Vishranti by avoiding

obstinacy and compromising moderately wherever required. He firmly

implements the decisions and resolutions he has made for the same. As

a result, such Yoga Sadhaka maintains excellent health, develops

personality and his efficiency increases. When this happens, a pleasant

experience of - `moJ… H$_©gw H$m¡ec_²& - reflects in all his deeds. With the

achieved skilfulness and ease, all his works become excellent.

There shouldn’t be any misunderstandings about the Yoga Sadhana

which helps the Yoga Sadhaka to follow the Dinacharya leading to overall

progress. It must be remembered that it will not be possible to get the

expected benefits of Yogabhyas or to follow ideal Dinacharya smoothly,

merely by doing few Asana or Pranayama practices and living a reckless

life otherwise. Every limb in Ashtanga Yoga of Maharshi Patanjali is

important. Therefore, it is vital to learn the Yoga under proper guidance.

Although the path of Ashtang Yoga is mainly preached for the fervent

seekers of ‘Kaivalya’ having spiritual intention, still this path is certainly

for the common Yoga lovers too, who look for the comprehensive health,

happiness, peace and contentment. Therefore, common Yoga Sadhaka

too shall practise all eight limbs from Ashtanga Yoga including Yama,

Niyama, to the extent possible but with devotion and respect

uninterruptedly. For this, Yoga can be practised even in the evening or at

Page 9: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

any time of the day on light stomach, if not possible to find time in the

morning. Yoga Practice can be divided into one or two, even in three parts

too if required. Various Yoga practices like Prandharana, Omkar Sadhana,

Soham Japa can be performed during any time of the day. Once it is

realised by self experience that merely practising few Asana doesn’t mean

Yogabhyas, but Yoga is an inspiring lifestyle to live every moment, happily

and to the fullest capability, then Yoga Sadhaka will not be left with any

complaint for non-availability of time for Yoga practices. Today, the need

of Yoga Sadhana has become most crucial. The five types of Yama –

Ahimsa (Non violence), Satya (Truthfulness), Asteya (Non stealing),

Brahmacharya (Continence) and Aparigraha (Non hoarding) – are the

important social restraints to be observed while living in the society.

Similarly, Shaucha (Purity), Santosha (Contentment), Tapa (Penance),

Swadhyaya (Self study), Ishwar Pranidhana (Submission to God) are the

five Niyama important for the Sadhaka for his individual health, progress

and advancement. For the fervent Yoga Sadhaka who is practising Yoga

Sadhana for spiritual achievement of the Kaivalya, it is necessary to strictly

observe Yama and Niyama as a great rite (Mahavrata). However, if a

common Yoga practitioner follows Yama – Niyama like a vow (Anuvrata)

to the extent possible but with sincerity, then too there will be remarkable

improvement in his lifestyle and his overall health will also improve.

Therefore, it is very important to actually practise Yoga properly and

continuously. In this context, Yoga Sadhaka should always remember

following two Shlokas from Hatha Pradipika, written by Muni Swatmaram

and follow his Dinacharya accordingly. The first shloka from it is –

`wdm d¥ÜXmo@{Vd¥ÜXmo dm ì`m{YVmo Xþ~©cmo@{n dm&Aä`mgmV² {g{ÜX_mßZmo{V gd©`moJoîdVpÝÐV…&& (h.à. 1-64)

That means Yoga Sadhaka may be young or old, or very aged, diseased

or weak, but if he practises Yoga giving up lethargy then he certainly will

be benefitted with powers through Yoga Sadhana. There is one more

equally important Shloka from Hatha Pradipika that emphasise the

significance of actions in Yogabhyasa.

Page 10: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

Which means, there shouldn’t be any doubt that one can get the fruits

of Yogabhyas by actually practising it and not by merely draping special

types of costume or talking about the subject.

Right knowledge (Pramana), Indiscrimination (Viparyaya), Verbal

delusion (Vikalpa), Sleep (Nidra) and Memory (Smriti) are the five Citta

Vritis and their cessation can be brought about by two methods,

‘repetitive practice and absolute detachment’; upon saying this

Maharshi Patanjali says, Practice means the effort to enter into and

continue to remain in the state of cessation of the modifications of the

Citta. The guidance on what needs to be done to consolidate practice of

such Yogabhyas is stated in the following Sutra from Patanjal Yoga

Darshana. Hence, a Yoga Sadhaka should chart his Dinacharya

accordingly by keeping this Sutra in mind.

g Vw XrK©H$mcZ¡aÝV`©gËH$mamgo{dVmo ÑT>^y{_…&& (nm.`mo.gy.1-14)Means this practice of Yoga gets deeply rooted if it is pursued relentlessly

for prolonged period respectfully and with affection and passion.

Swatmaram Muni has warned in the following Shloka about the

possible obstacles in Dinacharya of a Yoga Sadhaka –

AË`mhma… à`mgü àOënmo {Z`_mJ«h…&OZg§L²>JíM cm¡ë`§ M fS²>{^`m}Jmo {dZí`{V&& (h.à.1-15)

Meaning, consuming excess food than required, excess labor, excessive

chattering, excessive insistence for rules, excess social connections and

flickering mind, are the six things which are detrimental to Yogabhyas.

Immediately, in the next shloka there is guidance given for the things

complimentary for the Yogabhyas. The shloka is as follows –

CËhmgmV² gmhgmÜX¡`m©ÎmÎdkmZmÀM {Zü`mV²&OZg§Jn[aË`mJmV² fS²>{^`m}J… à{gÜ`{V&& (h.à.1-16)

It means enthusiasm, courage, patience, right knowledge, resolution and

abstinence from society, are the six things that help for the successful

Yogabhyas.

Page 11: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

Sadhaka should experience pleasantness with proper and

continuous Yogabhyas. The overall personality of Sadhaka should reflect

good results of Yogabhyas. With the Yogabhyas, the psychosomatic

Personality of Sadhaka must elevate but simultaneously remarkable

good positive changes should also be seen in Sadhaka’s lifestyle, his

behaviour, activities, thoughts and speech.

Even after practising Yoga for a prolonged period, if a Sadhaka’s mind

is getting disturbed frequently by trivial incidents, petty matters or if

there is no positive change in Sadhaka’s original vices like egoism, anger,

jealousy, adamant and sadistic nature then the Sadhaka must realise

that there is something wrong in his Yoga Sadhana, Yogic Dinacharya or

elsewhere. Then it is essential to review and make necessary appropriate

changes with advice from the expert in the Yoga practice as well as in

the Dinacharya.

The proof of success of Yogabhyasa is to be able to retain the

pleasantness of mind permanently. The guiding philosophical principles

for retaining the pleasantness of mind is available in many of our ancient

scriptures. In this context, it is believed that if the Yoga Sadhaka ponders,

contemplates and follow his Dinacharya as per the remedies suggested

in the following Sutra from Patanjal Yoga Darshana, for retaining the

pleasantness of Citta, then it will definitely prove beneficial for him. The

Sutra is –

_¡ÌrH$ê$Um_w{XVmonojmUm§ gwIXþ…InwÊ`mnwÊ`{df`mUm§^mdZmV²{üÎmàgmXZ_²&& (nm.`mo.gy.1-33)

Means Citta remains in a blissful state if the feelings of pleasure and pain

(Sukha-Duhkha), virtue and vice (Punyarthi-Papa) are responded through

friendliness (Maitri), compassion (Karuna), joyfulness (Mudita) and

equanimity (Upeksha).

It is felt that, adopting the Dinacharya charted in accordance with

the above mentioned eight Sutras constantly in mind will certainly be

fruitful for the Yoga Sadhaka. In order to continue Yoga Sadhaka’s

Dinacharya smoothly and uninterruptedly, certain principles from

Page 12: AZwH«$ {UH$mThe original Marathi article of Shri Shreedhar Parab published under the column ‘Mukhaprushtha Pahatana’ in Yoga Varta's issue for the month of September 2015 has

Management for skill development too, can be considered and

implemented appropriately in the Dinacharya. Actions that reduce

unnecessary stress are “Right on time - At the right place - To the right

person”. If this is considered as ‘Mantra’ of success, then there is no

doubt that Dinacharya as per the ‘Eight Sutra-Shloka’ of Yoga Sadhaka

mentioned above will certainly prove beneficial and will shine brightly if

the Sadhaka follows simple principle of management such as prioritising

and timely accomplishing the task (Right on time), to return the things

at the appropriate place after usage without fail (At the right place) and

to acknowledge and readily give due credit with gratitude to the one

who has done a good job (To the right person).

WHO KILLED THE FROG!

Scientists who experiment on animals to find out the answer to

something unknown about their living etc., generally take utmost care of

the safety of the lives of such animals. True scientists earnestly believe

that the life of anybody is more important than the success of an

experiment. They know that the 'life' is invaluable gift of God. Therefore,

scientists usually give primary importance to animal's life and secondary

importance to the experiment.

Jawn Dewey was a famous Educationist. He promoted the 'Theory of

Learning by Doing' in education. Impressed by this theory, every school

and college had established a laboratory in their own premises for

undertaking various types of experiments for learning more and more.

Once a learned teacher of one reputed college told the students,

"The anatomy and physiology of frogs is largely similar to that of human

beings. Tolerance of heat is sometimes more in frog's body than human

beings. This has been proved by the experiment. You can also do this

experiment in our college laboratory and learn this truth by doing.''

After hearing the talk of the learned teacher, some enthusiastic

students went into the laboratory with a living frog. They put the living

frog in a jar filled with water. The frog was very happy to swim freely in

that tap water.

Students then kept the jar of water on gas stove. The temperature

of water then started increasing, though gradually. The frog was now

enjoying swimming in warm water. When water became warmer, the

frog started experiencing some inconvenience. It,however, tolerated the

increasing heat instead of making all-out efforts to jump out of the jar

which could have been possible at that time. The frog perhaps over-

estimated its capacity to tolerate heat.

Students then suddenly increased the gas level to the highest

degree. With this, the water started boiling. The frog was now not able

to cope-up with the increased heat. It now tried to jump out of the jar

but could not succeed in its frantic efforts as it had lost much of its

strength by now. Students were engrossed in watching jumping actions

of the frog. They did not really understand the seriousness of the

situation from the point of view of the frog's life. After few jumping

actions, the frog became motionless. In fact, the frog had now died.

With this, the experiment ended.

Who killed the frog? Who was to be blamed for the death of the

frog? Whether the experimenting students to be blamed as they were

unaware of the fact that the life of the frog was in danger when the

water started boiling; or the frog itself who over-estimated its strength

and tolerance capacity due to which it failed to jump out of the jar well

in time? Or whether the learned teacher was to be blamed as he forgot

to tell to the students what precautions they must take while doing the

experiment so that the frog does not die due to unbearable heat? All

these questions remain unanswered.

CONDOLENCE

SENIOR YOGA TEACHER

SHRI SADASHIV R. LIMAYE HAS LEFT THIS WORLD

We feel extremely sad and disheartened to

inform the demise of YVN-trained Senior Yoga Teacher

(Yoga Teachers’ Training Course of 1985) Shri Sadashiv

Raghunath Limaye at 8.45 am on 18th January 2018

(Age - 73 years). He was an excellent Yoga Teacher

having an inquisitive nature and scholarly personality.

He possessed a rich treasure of valuable information

and self-experience in the field of Yoga and other

allied topics. He rendered exemplary services with a missianary zeal for

spreading the message of Yoga in pursuance of YVN's motto - 'Yoga Vidya

in Every Home'. He retired from Air India as Sub-Engineer in the year

2003. Since then, he devoted his most of the time in teaching Yoga

especially in schools, colleges and other institutions located in and

around Goregaon where he was residing. He used to enthusiastically

participate in various yoga programs and workshops organised by YVN

and also give yoga-based therapeutic advice to many needy persons

suffering from one or the other psycho-somatic disorder/disease. It is

learnt from Smt. Majusha Kapoor (daughter of Late Shri Sadashiv

Limaye) that her father had been teaching Yoga to Shri Shaikh, Founder

of Pradnya Bodhini High School, Goregaon (E) since last 12 years which

he did attended even in the morning of the last day of his life i.e. 18th

Jan. 2018 by reciting Omkar and Prayer in the house of Shri Shaikh. This

amply speaks of his firm faith in Yoga and remarkable dedication to the

noble cause of spreading yoga to the maximum people.

On behalf of YVN Parivar, we express our heartfelt condolences

over the sad demise of Shri Sadashiv R. Limaye and pray God to

let his departed soul get most blessed place in the heaven and

bestow his bereaved family members enough strength to

A Report on Yoga Session Conducted at

XAVIER INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING, MAHIM, MUMBAI.

(R.N.Sharma. Mob. : 9833540923)

A Yoga session was conducted on 20.1.2018 at Xavier Institute of

Engineering before the faculties and staff members numbering about

hundred. Three teachers namely Smt. Neha Kerure, Shri R.N.Sharma and

Shri Durgadas Savant visited the institute for the purpose.

In his one hour talk, Shri Durgadas Savant referred to important Yogic

literature and explained the importance and need of Yoga and Yogic

practices. He elaborated Ashtanga Yoga from Patanjalyogadarshan. In

his lively deliberation, Shri Savant stressed that Yama and Niyama should

be practised by an individual in order to make him/her as an ideal

person and also to adopt ideal behavior in society per se so that one can

remain Physically, Mentally and Socially healthy. Regarding Asana, he

mentioned that it is a comfortable, soothing posture and people should

practise asanas as per one’s capacity without competing with each other.

Mrs Neha Kerure and Mr. R.N.Sharma demonstrated various Asanas.

Thereafter, all staff and faculties practised the same under the

supervision of all three teachers of YVN. Shri Savant further explained

the ill effects of bad stress on Physical and Mental health. To overcome

it, regular Yogabhyas is the best remedy which should include certain

Mudras and Pranayamas. After explaining the technique, all present

were asked to practise Tadagi Mudra, Jeevha Bandha, Simhamudra,

Brahmamudra, Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari Rechak Pranayam. During

his lecture, he said that diet plays a very critical role so as to maintain

overall health. Hence, one should follow Well-Balanced and Natural Diet

regime and shun junk food.

Various publications of Yoga Vidya Niketan were also displayed over

there. Many individuals and institutions purchased the books. Director

of the institute Father Francis expressed his gratitude particulary

towards Shri Durgadas Savant and Yoga Vidya Niketan for accepting

invitation and conducting very fruitful session of Yoga for their staff and

faculties. The program was concluded in a very somber atmosphere and

clapping aloud by the august gathering.
