It's also the unofficial beginning of outdoor art season in parts of the Bay Area. Last weekend, two cities celebrated art, the people who make it, and the throngs who enjoy it. In San Jose, the 10th annual SubZERO festival took place in the city's SoFA district. The event, part of the monthly South First Fridays celebrations, mixed artists with musicians and performers, with a focus on "emerging and present subcultures thriving in our region." Up in Palo Alto, the city hosted an event called CodeART as a "laboratory for urban interventions and creative placemaking." The focus here was to provoke a conversation about how the city's downtown would be shaped. Various installations throughout the heart of Palo Alto combined technology and art to create interactive experiences for residents and visitors. SubZERO - Stacy Yem does a pottery demonstration.
