FREE INVISALIGN CONSULTATION NOW AVAILABLE If you are ready for a smile that transforms your appearance, but don’t want to have braces, Invisalign is a “no braces” alternative that can work for some patients, particularly suiting adults. Invisalign treatment straightens teeth through a series of clear, comfortable and removable aligners. Each aligner is slightly different, gradually moving your teeth into the desired position. This type of treatment does not suit all patients, however at Bee Happy we offer a free first consultation to see if this is an option for you. At this consultation, our Registered Orthodontic Specialists can go through all of your treatment options. And the best part is, there is no Dentist referral required, so you can just ring us on 5442 5100 and make an appointment for either our Bendigo or Echuca offices.

MAD ABOUT SCIENCE MAYA MANN – AGED 16 OF PYRAMID HILL Year 11 student and patient at Bee Happy, Maya Mann was thrilled this year to be one of 55 Year 11 students from Australia and New Zealand selected to attend the Youth ANZAS 2016 Conference hosted in Brisbane this July. Four other Bendigo students also attended, one from Maya’s school, Girton Grammar, and three from Catholic College.

The Youth ANZAS Science Conference is a science camp where students interested in science meet with PhD students and researchers to get a feel for science career opportunities. Workshops were held for a range of different science disciplines. Maya was particularly interested in medical science, finding it’s ever-changing nature engaging. Ideally, Maya would like to become a surgeon.

Science is not Maya’s only passion though; she also enjoys reading, playing field hockey and travelling. Maya plays defence for both her school hockey team and Loddon Murray in the Bendigo Hockey League. Maya would like to return to America following last year’s very enjoyable three-week school trip to a Space Camp in Alabama and NASA in Florida.

Darcy Williams and Piper Dunlop, great friends and fellow patients (beginning treatment at almost the same time), are taking the court by storm in basketball and netball, sharing many milestones both on and off the court.

The girls met whilst playing for The Generals basketball side in the local domestic competition at The Schweppes Centre. Both girls have earned positions in the Braves Basketball under 12’s girl’s side where they won two country championships and have recently enjoyed a win in the National Junior Basketball Classic under 14’s side. In January this year Darcy and Piper were also part of the winning side in the Australian Junior Basketball Cup.

The next step for the squad is to compete at the Australasian National Championships in Newcastle, NSW in September this year. Then the team is off to the Southern Cross Challenge in January 2017.

Both girls also play netball and are in the AFL Academy Netball Squad and Bendigo Bank Academy of Sport netball squad as well as for the Sandhurst Dragons in the Bendigo Football Netball League. The next step up in their pathway to netball success for Darcy and Piper is trying out for the Under 16 Country Victorian Bush Rangers squad.

PIPER DUNLOP – AGED 12 OF STRATHDALE About Piper

Piper began playing basketball at age 8 and is in now in Year 7 at the La Valla campus of Catholic College Bendigo. One of the youngest, yet also one of the tallest (5 foot 11 inches and still growing), members of the Bendigo Braves under 14s girl’s side, Piper was recently awarded MVP at the National Junior Classic, which her team won this June in Melbourne.

Whilst Piper plays sport nearly every night of the week, she finds time once a week after school to play guitar as it is a great relaxation outlet and gives balance to her life.

According to Piper’s Mum Sally, “Piper is very organised and has a great work ethic. She studies on the go and on breaks and is very committed.” Piper wants to get into medicine of some sort and is looking at becoming a physiotherapist. Her future athletic aspirations include being offered a scholarship at the AIS in basketball.

DARCY WILLIAMS – AGED 13 OF GOLDEN SQUARE About Darcy

Darcy is in year 7 at Marist College Bendigo and has been playing basketball for 7 years. She generally plays in the position of Guard.

Darcy trains almost every night of the week and enjoys a quiet and relaxing run on Tuesday nights (her only night off). Darcy’s favourite subject at school is Maths and she also hopes to study locally in Bendigo and become a physiotherapist. Her aspirations include making the Bendigo Spirit basketball side and travelling around Australia and New Zealand.

Bee Happy STAFF NEWS

INFECTION CONTROL AT BEE HAPPYAll health care providers in Australia are required to abide by infection control guidelines. Bee Happy Orthodontics is part of the dental care industry whose legal requirements are managed and monitored by the Australian Dental Association.

To meet with compliance standards and protect both staff and patients, staff undertake on-going training and all of our offices are audited and monitored to ensure infection control protocols are met.

ACCREDITATION AND INFECTION CONTROL

As an accredited orthodontic practice, Bee Happy Orthodontics also has further reporting responsibilities in relation to infection control. Bee Happy Orthodontic’s accreditation is an independent recognition that, as an organisation, they have met the requirements of defined standards that provides peace of mind to patients and their families.

About DarcyBorn and raised in Bendigo, Darcy has lived in the area all her life. She completed Year 12 at Bendigo Senior Secondary College before taking a gap year, which saw her working at Woolworths and for a grain company in Elmore. Darcy had always wanted to be a nurse and had previously considered a career in the dental industry. Upon seeing the Dental Nurse Traineeship opportunity at Bee Happy, Darcy applied and was accepted.

The Traineeship entails one year of study and on-the-job training. The course portion of the traineeship includes four weeks of classes in one-week blocks at RMIT over the 12 months.

Darcy enjoys sport in general and plays Centre for Eaglehawk Netball Club. She has travelled around Australia and hopes to save and travel overseas to America and Europe one day. Darcy has a love of animals and is enjoying her new Golden Retriever puppy named Winnie (as in Winnie the Pooh).
