What does biodiversity mean? Biodiversity is a degree of variation
of life forms within a given species, ecosystem, biome, or an entire planet.
Biodiversity conserns the species, their genetic properties and the ecosystem.
The hot spots of biodiversity The hot spots of Earth or the spots of
congestion are the areas with a big number of different species.
Slovenia is by its rithchesness one of the ritchest countries of Europe, (around 23000 species are listed in Slovenia).
The reasons for threats and the losses of biodiversity The changes in agriculture The over-exploitation of species for hunting or
something else The destruction of natural habitats (the
uncontroled spread of urban areas, the introduction of agriculture on ares of preserved nature)
The developement of infrastructure (the building of highways)
Pollution – of the air, the ground with polluted water, the exhausts, pesticides, …
The indangered species in Slovenia In Slovenia these species are
indangered:1. 90 % species of amphibian,2. 83 % species of reptile,3. 58 % species of birds, 4. 61 % species of fish,5. 43 % species of mammals
In Slovenia there are 342 species of Pteridophyta and seed plants indangered and put on the red list.
1. Drosera intermedia (flesh eating plant)
2. Edelweiss3. Pasque flower4. Rhododendron luteum5. Arnica6. Centaurium erythraea

How to preserve biodiversity? The separation of waste Do not throw the waste into nature Drive with the bus or the train or maybe
go with your bicycle Use the bags made out of nature-
friendly materials
