SFI students celebrated NESD Homecoming Week with fun spirit days to show their Bobcat Spirit! The fan favorite seemed to be Mis-Match Day on Thursday. We're not sure who enjoyed this day more, the teachers or the students!

Rachel Challenge Organization Donates to Rachel's Closet

The Scott family, founders of the Rachel's Challenge Organization, were very ex-cited when they recently learned about the NMS FOR Club's Rachel's Closet pro-ject. Rachel's Closet is a student run "boutique" to assist middle school stu-dents who are in need. Rachel's Closet is located in the middle school and is made up clothing, shoes, school supplies, hygiene items, and fun items like school spirit wear, athletic wear, purses and jewelry all donated by the NESD commu-nity. The Scott family recently sent NMS 84 pairs of shoes to support our journey of spreading kindness and compas-sion. We are grateful for the very kind donations to Rachel's Closet from Ra-chel's family. We will be able to serve many Northeastern students with the shoes.

A message from Peter DeAnello, Rachel's Challenge representative:

You don’t know how happy I was to receive these pictures!  I sent a special note to Sandy (Rachel’s Step Mom) and Mike (Rachel’s Brother) to thank them especially, because it was their idea to send these.  The pictures you sent are precious because you would think those girls were opening their own presents – their smiles exude the feelings Rachel must have had each time she made someone’s life just a little bit better with an act of kindness.

Please extend my thanks to Mike and the FOR Club for all the great examples that you all live every day to keep that chain reaction of kindness and compassion spreading throughout your school and community! My best regards to all the Bobcats! Peter

On Wednesday, a caring com-munity member named Dori Grim donated 20 new coats, notebook paper, and handbags to Rachel's Closet. Dori set a personal goal to donate 10 coats, but as she shared her goal, she found other caring community members wanting to share her giving attitude. The friends of Rachel were so ex-cited to get the coats on display for needy students that very same day. Thank you for your kindness and compassion, Dori!!

Here is an article from YDR on the Sticker Shock Campaign. Thank you to all who participated and volunteered their time and efforts. http://www.ydr.com/news/ci_28964496/northeastern-students-place-parents-who-host-lose-the-most-stickers-on-beer-cases

Congrats SFI 4th Grader, Ashton Potts, winner of a Kindle Fire from our Stamp Drive!!

Jen Fertenbaugh was nominated for Goodwill Ambassador!

This woman's civic and community service goes above and beyond a normal means to impact not just a local community but to also leave a foot-print on a national/international level.

On Thursday, fourth grade students at SFI were entertained and educated on the science of electricity by James Filizzi. Mr. Filizzi presented the Elementary Science Program for Electricity from The Engineering Society of York.

The Rotary Club of York visited Mt. Wolf's first grade classes to read stories and offer the gift of books for every student. What a generous way to promote a love of reading that will last a lifetime!

Conewago second grade students making nonfiction scrolls and going on a text feature scavenger hunt during their College Prep Period.

At Jim Macks Cones and Clubs. Thank you Au-tism York for your support.

8th grader Tanner Updegraff is a Big Buddy and fully spirited at The Buddy Project's field trip to Clubs and Cones.

Volunteers are needed! Please con-sider lending a hand at our Bobcat Flip house this Saturday, October 17th between 8 am and noon. All skill levels are welcome.
