Day 5the city of wine & Masseria LiveliToday, we visit La Citta del Vino (the city of wine) and Cellino San Marco. Our first stop will be the enormous Cantine Due Palme which has claimed awards for their decadent style of winemaking which is changing the way the professionals accept Puglia. You will see the winemaking facilities, and taste numerous wines with their leading oenologist. Next, we will drive to the amazing Masseria Liveli, where we will have lunch and taste some of Puglia’s most beautiful, up and coming wines. After our long lunch and tasting we will relax before dinner at a local restaurant famous for grilled meats and wines of the region.

Day 6Leone de Castris, Cantele & LecceWe have a morning visit to the famous Leone de Castris for a tasting of some of Puglia’s most prized wines. We then head to lunch with the phenomenal Paolo Cantele in Lecce for some of the most amazing local cuisine in Puglia. After lunch we will drive over to Cantele for a tasting and walk through the winery. We end the day with a drive to Manduria for a tasting of the beloved and decadent Primitivos of the region.

Day 7Lecce,Vallone vino, ciaoWe return to Lecce and on the way we stop for one final winery Vallone for a taste of the exclusive and most prized wines of the Salento. In Lecce you have the option to depart to Rome, catch a shuttle back to Bari airport or stay on for a walking tour of the city with our art historian and local guide and the chance to extend your stay in Puglia.

Day 1welcome to Italy, Babo wine bar & Hotel Borgo BiancoArrive at the Bari Airport and meet your guide before shuttling to Bari for a traditional, light lunch of Puglia with Giancarlo at Babo wine bar in Bari. After lunch we head to the first hotel, the Borgo Bianco, for an afternoon of rest and relaxation. This evening we have a Puglia meet and greet with the other guests and a wine seminar on the wines of Puglia hosted by the b7 representative and the Hotel Borgo Bianco. Dinner will be a traditional Pugliese feast and wines from all over the region.

Day 2Rivera winery, Castel del Monte & the best gelato everWe drive north to the Castel del Monte region and our first winery, Rivera where we will taste an enormous range of wines including those made with the local and divine grape, Nero di Troia. We will walk in the vineyards and enjoy time with winemaker Sebastiano de Corato. We will then have a full tasting of unreleased wines in the barrel room, followed by a regional feast with the wines of Rivera. After lunch we will shuttle to the site of the famous Castel del Monte, the archaeological symbol of Puglia and one of the most unusual and interesting buildings in all of Italy. We will return to the hotel for an afternoon rest with an evening stroll through beautiful Polignano a Mare, and dinner at Chichibio followed by an evening stroll along the cliffs and a gelato at the famous Il Super Mago del Gelo (the super magician of ice cream).

Day 3cheese, ancient trulli, pasta, mangia!Today we head to a local cheese making shop for a demonstration and tasting of the amazing fresh mozzarella of Puglia. After we have our fill of cheese, we move to the UNESCO heritage site of Alberobello and walk amongst the 1500 ancient trulli homes, stopping for a tasting of local artisanal products with local superstar, Mimmo, and a lesson on making orecchiette pasta with Mimmo’s mother, Cosima. From Alberobello we head to the hilltop town of Cisternino for a detailed tasting and food pairing, at the famous Il Cucco Enoteca. Enjoy your afternoon in the lovely city of Ostuni, and rest well for an eight (8) course dinner with matching wines at the outstanding Il Frantoio.

Day 4Aglianico, Sassi of Matera & by the seaWe travel to Altamura to taste some of Italy’s best breads before heading to Matera and Basilicata for a meeting with one of the region’s best winemakers and a guided tasting and lunch of the outstanding Aglianico del Vulture. After lunch we will have a guided walk of the stunning ancient Sassi of Matera. We return with a walk through the olive groves near our hotel and a wonderful dinner along the sea.
