The Bachelor of Information Technology puts you at the heart of the field that is driving our world forward. Whether you want to be a software developer, design multimedia experiences, or develop smart systems for the future, this degree will give you the technical, analytical and creative skills to develop solutions, innovate and be successful in the information economy. This degree is very flexible – you can undertake it at a pace that suits you. It also gives you a hands-on experience working with industry, developing information technology responses to business challenges. At Sydney International School of Technology and Commerce (SISTC) we offer innovative state of the art courses which are approved as meeting the Australian Qualifications Framework. Our Bachelor of IT course is designed to meet the requirements of the Australian Computer Society (ACS). We will be applying for accreditation with ACS. The Bachelor of IT has a real-world focus with internship work experience and team-based projects designed to prepare graduates for professional IT opportunities. Topics include in-depth exploration of IT infrastructure technologies; the technical and business elements required to analyse, design, implement, manage and support complex IT resources, trans- formative business solutions, enterprise architecture, networks, virtual and cloud-based deployment. Resources include IT Labs, workshop areas, learning materials, and library. The purpose of SISTC’s work integrated learning is to give you a structured opportunity to use the IT and English skills you have developed in your learning within a real work place setting. These placements are for 2 days/week for 12 weeks and take place in the final year of your program. Placements are the subject of a formal agreement between you, your host workplace and your lecturer. The agreement sets out the work activities you will be involved in during your placement, and how this will be included as part of your assessment. Each unit is based on 4 contact hours per week between students and their teachers. This will usually take the form of a 2 hour lecture combined with a 2 hour tutorial/workshop for units which are offered in face-to-face mode. For units offered in on-line mode, the 4 hours will comprise a mixture of ‘lectorials’ (combined lecture and tutorial), as well as small group and individual sessions with teaching staff.
