Virtual Learning VocabularySynchronous = Live, face-to-face instruction.
Asynchronous = On-demand, independent work. Independent work may look like: ST Math, Imagine Learning, reading a book or assigned reading material, completing an assigned task or project, etc. Clearview is calling this independent work on our schedules.
Small-Group Instruction = Time on Monday-Friday when selected students will meet with staff for live, intensive, small-group instruction to target various needs, (versus large-group, whole-class instruction). This could consist of, and meet the needs of, enrichment, remediation, specialized special education instruction, specialized English-Language instruction, Advanced Academics Program instruction, and social-emotional needs instruction.
Family Choice Time = Parent directed/monitored movement breaks, outdoor activities, music or instrument practice, snack time, quiet time, screen-free time, etc.

Attendance PoliciesAttendance will be taken daily by 3:35 pm per the FCPS attendance policy.
At Clearview, on Mondays, we will take attendance during the morning meeting, and/or during small-group learning sessions. Those students will be marked ‘present’ or ‘absent’ for attendance. If a child is marked ‘absent’ parents will receive a call from FCPS’s eNotify system - just confirm your child has been working independently (asynchronously), and they will be marked ‘present.’
At Clearview, Tuesday-Friday, we will take attendance during the morning meeting, during synchronous instruction, specials, and small-group instruction. Similar to the procedure on Monday stated above, FCPS’s eNotify system will contact parents to confirm ‘present’ or ‘absent’ if a student is initially marked ‘absent.’
