TECHNOLOGY RECOMMENDATIONS
We have the following advice for students:
● Passwords are keys to your reputation, which takes a lifetime to repair.
● Revealing your name, age, phone number, school, any email address, or home address online places you
at risk to be targeted, avoid the temptation to give away personal information.
● Posting photos presents the chance they will be altered and you placed in a compromising light.
● Take care when communicating online, especially if you are new to a forum or chat room.
● No threat is “idle” in today’s world. The more a message is forwarded, the more the intended tone is
lost. You can face serious legal charges and will face school discipline.
● Opening any messages requesting you to complete surveys or to access your profile and those of your
friends (read the fine print) can introduce a world of hidden consequences.
● Understand, everything you post on the internet can be seen by the entire world and you can never call
back a picture once it is on the World Wide Web. Forever is a very long time.
************************************************************************
We have the following advice for parents:
● Place your computer in a public area of the house, such as the kitchen, where it is visible to everyone in
the family.
● We recommend you do not permit your sons and daughters to IM without you being present.
● If your child is harassed via electronics, report it to your provider and immediately block that person
from accessing you; if it continues, contact the police. Always take a screen shot of the messages before
deleting them; preserving evidence is top priority in these cases.
● Limit your son or daughter’s time online, particularly after 9 P.M., and collect all devices prior to your
child(ren) going to bed.
● Monitor and block access to inappropriate sites, chat-rooms and posting boards they visit, as well as
their phone and texting use. Prepare to ask tough questions about their internet use and cell phone use.
● This is not an “invasion of privacy,” it is your parental duty to keep your child(ren) safe. In this day and
age, it is wise to stay up-to-date with technology and its potential dangers.
************************************************************************
Please understand students will be held responsible for everything they put on the internet. Nothing is private.
Also, under school rules, they will be held responsible for bringing disfavor to this institution.
Our handbook states that anything that reflects negatively upon the school, including electronically posted
information on the internet, email, posting boards, or others, the student is liable for disciplinary action, and if
necessary, dismissal.
Be aware the school cannot file charges if your son or daughter is harassed at home via any form of
technology. Please be vigilant to talk with your child(ren) about their online life.
Attain and maintain knowledge of current social media Apps, sites, and platforms.

Physical Education Policies UNIFORMS Students are required to wear the school PE uniform. Students will be able to purchase new PE uniforms directly from PE teachers during the first week of classes. No order forms are required. A new shirt or a new pair of shorts will cost $10 for each item. Please bring cash or a check (made payable to York Catholic High School) to your first PE class if you need to buy a new uniform. PE uniforms are not sold through the Spirit Store. Any questions may be directed to Miss Anderson at [email protected]. We are asking parents to be sure your child wears the appropriate uniform for PE class and is properly dressed for outdoor PE classes. During cold weather, students are encouraged to bring winter clothing (warm-ups, sweat suits, and/or winter coats) to wear over PE uniforms for classes that may be conducted outdoors. There are occasions in which two classes may be scheduled for the gym at the same time, and if this occurs and the weather is good, we will then take one or both classes outside to participate in the activity. We strongly encourage students to wear warm clothing! We will not take the class outside if there is severe cold or threatening weather. EVALUATION PE is a graded class on the report card. We will provide the classes with information for each activity that will include key rules, terms, and general description of the activity. All students will be evaluated on their skill of the particular activity we are conducting and on their fitness ability. QUESTIONS If you have any questions about Physical Education classes, please contact any of the following PE Department members: Miss Kelly Anderson [email protected] Department Chair Women’s Physical Education Instructor Mr. Brad Hayek [email protected] Men’s Physical Education Instructor Mrs. Erin Langione [email protected] Junior High Physical Education Instructor

Dear Parent/Guardian:
State legislation authorizes the loan of textbooks, instructional materials, and equipment by the Secretary of
Education to Pennsylvania children enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12 in nonpublic and private schools.
Our school is now in the process of requesting specific textbooks, materials and equipment to be loaned to your
child(ren).
It is required, however, that a parent/guardian of each child attending the nonpublic or private school
individually request a loan of textbooks, instructional materials and equipment. We are, therefore, enclosing the
individual request form. Please sign the form, date it, and return it to the school by August 26.
Thank you for your continued assistance and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Adrienne K. Seufert
Principal

DRUGS 101: WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW
Free Program ~ For Adults Only
No registration necessary
This program seeks to educate parents about the various forms of drugs and the peer pressures facing students to use them.
A mock bedroom of a teenager serves as the backdrop to the one hour
presentation where more than 80 trendy drug and alcohol indicators will be unveiled to show how some adolescents hide drug and alcohol
use from their parents.
Signs, symptoms, and current trends of tobacco, alcohol, inhalants, heroin, and prescription drugs will also be presented.
Did you know? 90% of addictions start in the teen years.
Cut the risk in half by talking to your kids.
Children are significantly less likely to use
if they learn about the risks of substance abuse at home.
