2 Backup method of system parameters | Kohzu Precision Co., Ltd
1. Backup method of 1system parameters
This instruction manual describes the backup procedure using Chamonix, the standard
control software made by our company. Chamonix is available without fee from the Web
site of our company.2
2. Preparation for backup of system parameters
Chamonix communicates with a SC controller using 3RS-232C (Figure 1). The
communication baud rate of Chamonix is 115200 baud by default. Since the baud rate of a
SC controller is 38400 baud by default, it is necessary to change the setting of Chamonix.
The changing method of baud rate is also described next. If the DIP switch of the
controller's back is changed from default, return to the original position4.
Figure 1 RS-232C cable
1 System parameters saved in a SC controller may be referred to as system settings on control software of our company and old version of documents for SC controllers, etc. When referring to these documents, please regard system parameters in this manual as system settings. 2 Please read the terms and conditions for use of "Chamonix". 3 "SC controller" in this manual refers to SC-200, SC-200K, SC-200T, SC-400, SC-800, SC-210, and SC-410. A part of special custom-made products is excluded. 4 For details, refer to the instruction manual of corresponding SC controller.

3. Start Chamonix
3.1. Select a port
When Chamonix is started, the following main form screen is displayed (Figure 5). This is
because a correct port to which the SC controller is connected is not selected correctly. If
the error dialog does not open, it connects to the SC controller automatically.

8 Connect to SC controller | Kohzu Precision Co., Ltd
3.2. Connect to SC controller
When connection to the SC controller is successful, the main form as shown in Figure 7 is
displayed. The figure shows the screen when connected to SC-410. For SC-020, 021, SC-
200, SC-200K, and SC-200T, only 2 axes are displayed.

When the connection is conducted correctly, "Connected to SC (model name)" is displayed
in the status tool bar at the bottom of the main form. Please check the message is
displayed.

4. Backup system parameters
4.1. Start system parameters
When the "System" button of each axis is pushed, the pushed button turns ON in green as
shown in Figure 8, and the setting window of "System Parameters" as shown in Figure 9 is
displayed. In these figures, the "System Parameters" setting window of PMI axis is
displayed.
Figure 8 Start System Parameters of PM1
When the "System Parameters" setting window is opened, system parameters of the axis
are extracted from the controller. In the example shown in Figure 9, the parameters of PM1
axis only are extracted.
In Chamonix, it is required to save backup per axis of the SC controller. Please
note that it does not mean to save backup of all axes as a batch.

The values of "System Parameters" in each axis can be saved as binary format (*.bin) or
XML format 6file. The saved file can be imported as the parameters of a displayed axis by
pushing the "Open" button. For the position of each button, refer to Figure 10.

Push the "Print" button to print parameters. Push the "Send" button to apply edited system
parameters as parameters of the axis in the SC controller.
In Chamonix, it is required to save backup per axis of the SC controller. Please
note that it does not mean to save backup of all axes as a batch.
6 XML1.1 (JIS X 4159:2005) format is used.

Kohzu Precision Co., Ltd | Configuration of XML file 13
4.3. Configuration of XML file
Saved XML file is shown in Figure 12. The file is configured with such variables as a model
of the controller, display resolutions inside Chamonix, each parameter and speed table.
Though each variable is editable, the order of variables cannot be changed. If the order of
variables is changed, it may not be read correctly.
Figure 12 Example when a saved XML file is opened
Our company does not recommend modifying a backup file with anything but
Chamonix. From the standpoint, it is recommended to save as a binary file.

14 Reset system parameters with Chamonix | Kohzu Precision Co., Ltd
5. Reset system parameters with Chamonix
SC-020 and SC-021 do not have a front panel. Therefore, reset should be performed by
sending RST command with control software like Chamonix or by setting SYS No.36 of the
system parameters to 1 with the optional product, RC-10 (production has finished). The
reset method of system parameters using Chamonix is described.
Figure 13 Command button
As shown in Figure 13, push the Command button at the top part of the main form.
"Chamonix Command Control" opens. As shown in Figure 14, enter "RST" in the sending
box at the bottom part, and push the "Enter" key to send the RST command to the SC
controller. As shown in the figure, the reply from the SC controller is displayed as "→C RST" that indicates the system parameters are successfully reset.
When system parameters are reset, the values of all system parameters become the default values. Always perform backup before execution.
