Whenever you spot a bird, use your bingo card to try and identify it. You can also use a field guide, iNaturalist or iBird lite to check. 2. Sometimes male and female birds look different. This is called sexual dimorphism. If you see a bird that looks similar to one on your card, check your guide to see if it’s the same bird or even a young, juvenile bird. 3. Once you have all 5 in a row (any direction), you’ve won a Bingo! 4. Share with the Forest Preserves of Cook County. 5. Keep your Bingo card and continue to see how many of these birds you can spot throughout migratory season. We’re celebrating World Migratory Bird Day! Every year, thousands of birds migrate through Illinois. Cook County falls along a “super highway” for bird migration thanks to diverse habitats such as wetlands, prairies, lakes and forests. Nearly 300 species of birds—migrating and native—have been spotted in the Forest Preserves of Cook County. You may be spending more time at home, but you can also find many of these birds traveling or stopping in your own neighborhood! Through this activity you’ll learn to identify and record the birds of Cook County by appearance.
