Bacon Wrapped Dates
This quick and easy starter is great as an hors d’oeuvre or on top of a salad. It’s rich, savory and sweet!
Prep time: 30 minutes
One – two servings per person
Ingredients
Dried Dates
Gorgonzola Cheese
Bacon slices cut in
half
Cooks note: (Dates can be substituted with figs when fresh in season)
Step 1 – Stuff Dates
Score the date down the middle and remove the seed
Place strip of cheese in the middle
Place stuffed dates on foil lined baking sheet
Step 2 - Wrap Dates with Bacon and BakeWrap each date with ½ a bacon strip
Place overlap underneath fig, facing down on baking sheet
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes – until bacon is crisp
Allow to cool slightly before serving
Cook’s Note: Mingle unstuffed dates and dates stuffed with cheese along with bacon wrapped dates for friends who prefer not to eat meat or pork
