Hello Year 2! Well...what a strange week it has been! As we move into Week 2, I wanted to make you aware of more home learning activities you can do at home. Please don’t feel that you need to complete each and every one, these are simply ideas. Spellings I have updated Spelling Shed for this week - Year 2 Common Exception Words are always on there but this week I have added spellings with the /j/ sound spelled –dge. This spelling is used after the short vowel sounds. Show children the spelling list and say the words. Can they hear a sound that appears in each word? Try showing them pictures of these words, can they match the picture to the word? Speed write, how many times can they write the first word in 1 minute? Once they know what each of the words mean, practice spelling them on Spelling Shed. I’ll be checking the leaderboard to see their great spelling! ICT With lots of us spending more time online, it’s really important we are remembering how to keep safe online. Watch Jessie & Friends episodes 1 and 2 - www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/jessie-and-friends- videos/ Talk about the cartoon with your child… - How did lots of people end up seeing the pictures? - What made Mo feel sad? - How did the friends get help when they needed it? - What did Miss Humphrey say she would do to help? Finish by watching the song again and having a sing-along! Ask your child to draw a picture of their favourite character singing the funny tummy song. Ask them to include their favourite lyrics from the song on their drawing. I’d love to see your work! Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths There’s some great engineering and science challenges from the engineers at Dyson. Here’s a couple that you might want to have a go at! (Only if you have the ingredients in and don’t use up the last of your eggs!) I’d love to see videos / photos or you having a go! Find them at… https://www.jamesdysonfoundation.co.uk/resources/challenge-

REWhy not have a go at the YOYO Easter competition? Why is Easter important for Christians? Show us through a picture, a model, a poster, a drama piece? Email your entry with your name, school and year group to be in with a chance of winning a prize. Email all entries to [email protected]. The closing date is Friday 3rd April. Make sure you send me a copy too so I can have a look at your creation!

Young Leaders In year 2, we work towards gaining our Young Leaders Award. Hopefully, this will still go ahead when we return to school. However, why not get a head start by thinking about how you and your family can work together to serve your community during COVID-19. Hopefully these ideas give you inspiration of how we can reach out to our community and bring hope to those around us whilst remaining safe.

How about creating a window display at the front of your house using tissue paper to share a message of support and hope?
