    Q UALITY

We encourage youOK we outright plead with you to look thoroughly throughout our packsand those of other companies, compare themstitch for stitch.

Start where it really countsthe inside. Dothose other companies seal and tape every seamon the pack ? Do they use Kevlar thread inhigh stress areas? Do they run all their webbingstraps through at least two seams? We could goon forever, but once you start looking closely

you will understand what we mean.

    COMFORT

If a pack does not allow you to carry your gearcomfortably all day long, whats the point ? Youmight as well throw everything in a burlap sackand sling it over your shoulder. Well nobody

wants no stinkin burlap. That is why all of ourpacks incorporate state-of-the-art molded foamsuspensions that contour to every curve of yourbody, providing you with the best fit possible.Better fit means better circulation. Better circu-lation means more energy. More energy leads tobetter job performance on Monday. Better jobperformance leads to pay raises, and pay raiseslead to more love and admiration from friendsand family. See how it all ties together? (Youcan thank us later).

ment you have ever owned we will give youback your moneyno questions, no kidding.

    SUSPENSION

Your Badlands pack is the result of 12 yearsof R&D in the field and design room. We areconstantly experimenting with the newest andmost cutting-edge materials available. The fewthat meet our unbelievably high standards arecombined with the best design and manufac-turing techniques known to man.

    Our pack suspen-sions are produced

with a proprietaryfoam formula, whichhas very high levelsof a substance calledEVA. It is the addi-tive which gives foamits ability to hold aset. The more EVAthe better it conforms

to your body, andthe better it con-forms to your bodythe better the packsperformance will be.

Trust us when we tell you that no other packcompany in the world even thinks about theseissues. Hold up your new pack and notice thecurves (mmmm, curves) in the foam. Theseare not just randomly placed for aesthetics but

are based on countless plaster molds we havemade of peoples bodies, which may sound abit weird, however, it is the best way possible totruly understand the human form.

When designing our packs we emulated theseshapes in order to produce a carry system which

would not ride on top of your body, but wouldcontour around it perfectly.

If you are one of those people who gravitatestoward products that represent the latest indesign technology, or you just sweat a lot, youprobably chose one of our new HyperventSeries. This suspension bridges the gap betweenthe cool venting characteristics of an externalframe pack with the comfort and performanceof an internal frame. This system will also con-tour perfectly to you body while simultaneouslydousing your back with fresh cool air.

    FRAME S YSTEM

There are only certain parts of the body that were designed to carry weight efficiently; thehip bones being the best of those. That is whyall Badlands packs were designed to transferloads, not to your spine, but around your waist

where it belongs. The most effective way to ac-complish this is with an internal frame system,

which acts as a secondary spine, thus taking thepressure off of yours. This is good news sincemost spinal injuries are compression oriented.

You can quickly see what we mean by trying on your pack with a load of about 15 to 20 poundsand pulling on the load lifter straps. Magicallythe shoulder straps will come off your shoul-ders, and the load will be transferred to your

hips. We will cover the adjustment of your packlater in this manual. (Please note: only packmodels equipped with internal frames have theLoad Lifter Feature).

Other Badlands models utilize a frame madefrom T-6 aircraft quality aluminum (2200 seriesand 2800 series) which can be easily formed tofit your unique shape.

For you trouble makers who say go big or gohome and chose our 4500 series: all we can sayis welcome player. Since we knew the person

who owns this pack had full intentions of com-ing home with far more weight than they left

with, we equipped it with a frame made frompoly carbonate, pound for pound some of thestrongest material in the universe.

It is molded into an IBeam shape, whichprovides a phenomenal amount of longitudinalstiffness and allows for a great deal of torsionalflex as well. It is the closest replication of thehuman spine we have found.

With some of our smaller day packs, having aninternal frame is simply overkill (even for us),so we have equipped them with ergonomicallydesigned hip belts and shoulder straps to barethe burden.

Our philosophy is and always has been, thesuspension is the most important part of anyback pack. All the pockets in the world meannothing if the pack carries like garbage. So,next time your buddy shows up at camp witha camo book bag and tries to tell you what agreat pack he has because it has a pocket for histooth brush and hair gel, just nod your head in

a condescending manner and keep setting up your tent.

Heat exhaustion and dehydration (we will coverhydration later) are the quickest ways there areto drain your body of its energy. That in mind, all Badlands packs were designed with extensive

venting abilities. Some models go so far that wedubbed them the Hypervent Series.

These packs utilize a concave frame system which allows cool air to constantly flow be-tween you and the pack. Other models perform

very effectively through a series of perforationsand molded vents. Which ever pack you chose,

    you were right.

Just because you now own the toughest packever made, it does not mean you should neglectit. Like with all equipment, salt, mud anddirt will accelerate the aging process, wear outzippers and will cause the fabrics to be lesssupple and quiet. Even though we will fix theseobvious abuses for you at no charge, that is notgoing to help you in the field if something fails.Even though our warranty is the best there is,

it does not cover air lifting a seamstress and asewing machine to your camp. However, if youhappen to have a very long extension cord (say5 miles long) we will discuss the possibilities.

With this in mind, when the season is over, place your pack in the tub with warm water andsome sent free laundry detergent and let it soakfor a while. Rinse it and hang it upside down soit can air dry. This is the perfect time to inspectthe pack for any lose strap or signs of problems.

D O NOT PLACE YOUR PACK IN THE WASHING

    MACHINE OR THE DRYER .

Your Badlands pack has an extremely honedsurvival instinct, and believe usin a fight the

    washer will lose every time.

    STORING Y OUR P ACK

After each time the pack is used, turn it upside

down and shake out all the crumbs and otherremnants of all things edible. During a longcold winter, mice will smell those little morsels.(FYI, we only have one documented case werea mouse has unzipped the pack to enter.) Onceagain any holes chewed in the pack will be fixedfor free, but we require you to track down the

vermin that caused the damage and pull out allof his teeth and send them to us, which can bequite time consuming.

    7 Caring For Your Pack

  • 8/10/2019 Badlands Owners Manual

    11/40

If you have not yet noticed you have purchaseda Badlands pack, which right out of the chutemeans you have a piece of equipment that wasdesigned with every contingency and possiblescenario taken into consideration. However, unless it is made of rubber nothing is waterproof forever. Meaning, if it is sewn as packsare, they will eventually absorb water through

the seams and zippers, even though they haveall been sealed and taped. The reason why isthat the threads used to hold it together act likesmall wicks, which absorb water and eventuallysoak through to your gear. In our experience,

you have about a three hour window of heavyrain until this occurs. About 50 times longerthan most other packs.

So what about the other 5 hours? We thought you might ask. Since this has been one of themost common questions we get, we decidedto do something about it. In the past you hadto go to the shoe department and purchase a

waterproofing spray, this worked fine, howeverit left your pack smelling like some third worldchemical plant (a smell which happens to

leave most deer and elk scratching their headsand wondering how could someone be sostupid?)

Not wanting to be the laughing stocks of theantlered world, we developed a new waterproofing spray which has no chemicals andactually smells like dirt. Just spray it on yourpack and voil. It masks any scent your packmay have, while keeping your gear dry. It also

works nicely on clothing and boots. Shamelessplug? You bet it is, and the Badlands spray is

available at any of our dealers. So next timesomebody says you smell like a dirt bag youcan thank us.

A pack is like anything else you wear on yourbody. It must fit correctly in order to be com-fortable. Follow these guidelines carefully toensure that each strap and buckle is adjustedaccordingly, and it will pay huge dividends.

FITTING YOUR PACK IF IT HAS AN INTERNAL FRAME : (4500, 2200, 2800, H YPERVENT

This will allow the pack to sit firmly on yourbody and will provide you the most accuraterepresentation of how it will carry in the field.

Step two: Throw thepack on and pullthe shoulder strapadjustment straps (1)downward at about a30 degree angle- back-

wards (see diagram). This will cause the

hip belt to rise on your body. Once thecenter of the beltis level with yourhipbones (or as theycall it in the medicalcommunity, youriliac crest) stop pull-ing and buckle up the hip belt. (2)

Step three: Reach behind your head at aboutthe height of your ears and pull the load lifterstraps snugly towards you (3). Note : this is akey step in the performance of your pack, asit engages the frame and causes the load to betransferred to your hips. These straps are alsoresponsible for stabilizing the pack, as well aspulling it into your natural center of gravity.

When you do this you should feel the top ofthe shoulder straps lifting off of your body, and there will be a small gap between thestraps and your shoulders. Fear not, as this ishow it was designed. If you can avoid it, nevercarry too much weight on your shoulders asthis is a common cause of spinal injuries.

Adjusting & Fitting Your Pack 10

    1. Pull down & back. The belt will rise.

    2. After buckling thereshould be a minimumof 2 on each side of thebuckle before it runs out

of adjustment.3. As you pull forwardthe shoulder straps willlift. Weight transfers tohips.

    4. Sternum strap keeps ittogether.

    5. Release webbing .Retighten sternum strap.

However, if you are scrambling through somerough terrain then you can loosen the loadlifters and place some of the weight back on

your shoulders, this will increase the contact

area between your pack and your body for a bitmore stability.

Step four: Now buckle up the sternum strapacross your chest and pull it snug. You willnotice it stretches, we have placed an elasticbehind it, which will allow you more freedomof movement and easier breathing. We found

over the years that breathing was quite valuable when hauling a 60 pound quarter through the woods.

Step Five: You are almost home, so hang on.Place your thumbs on the shoulder strap adjust-ments at the bottom of the shoulder strapsand slightly loosen them. Once again snug up

the sternum strap to take care of any excessslack.(4)

Step Six: Call your wife in the room and let hersee first hand how fly you are in your newBadlands pack. If this does not rekindle thoselost sparks see a marriage counselor.

Helpful Hint: Before performing step six, besure to loosen up the hip belt, it will make yourgut look smaller.

P LEASE N OTE : Before you head off into thehills, load your pack and take a short walk.

As Murphys Law states, anything that cango wrong will happen at the least opportunetime. This case being two hours into yourhunt. So make sure everything fits correctly andfeels good. If not, call us and we will tell you

FITTING Y OUR P ACK W ITHOUT AN I NTERNAL FRAME : (Superday, Ultimate Day)

Because these packs are designed to be smallerin capacity they are naturally shorter andtherefore must be adjusted correctly on yourback to perform as designed. The thing toremember here is that women and men carry

weight differently: A womans center of gravityis more towards their abdomen, while a mansis up towards the shoulder blade region. So if

you are female loosen the shoulder straps sothat the main body of the pack is close to the

center of your back. If you are male then pullthe shoulder straps so the pack rest about 2 to3 inches below your shoulders. This adjustment

will allow for good upright posture and theability to carry more weight comfortably. Pleasenote: everyone is different and these are simplyguidelines, so dont cave into peer pressure andfollow them exactly. A slight variance is fine ifit makes things more comfortable.

Next is the hip belt. In a perfect world (oursanyway) once you positioned the shoulderstraps, the waist belt should be at roughly thecenter of your hips. However, if you have a

very long or very short torso, this is not alwayspossible. If you have a difficult time getting thehip belt in position, make a small adjustmenton the shoulder straps to either raise the belt or

Adjusting & Fitting Your Pack 12

  • 8/10/2019 Badlands Owners Manual

    16/40

lower it. Remember, day packs carry less thaninternal frame packs, so a little compromise

would not hurt in this situation. Your Badlandspack will still outperform any other pack on the

    market in this category.

Q: H OW FAR SHOULD THE HIP BELT WRAP AROUND MY WAIST ?

A: The rule is: the more waist belt you havearound your hips the greater the area there isfor the weight to be distributed. Ideally, you

want about a 4 inch gap between the foam sec-tions of the belt.

Q: H OW FAR SHOULD THE SHOULDER STRAPS GO UNDER MY ARMS ?

A: For a perfect fit you would like a minimumof 2 inches of the foam section of the strap togo below your arm pit. Any less and you willcreate pressure points in the shoulder area.Having the straps be a bit long does not causeany ill effects, however they should not bottomout to where they cannot be tightened anyfurther.

Q: I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING IN THE MANUAL AND STILL CANNOT GET A PROPER FIT . W HAT SHOULD I DO ?

A: As part of our warranty we will modify thepack to try and get you the best fit possible. However, please understand there are limits tohow much a pack can be modified, but you canbe sure after we are finished it will fit you betterthan any other day pack out there. Just give us acall, and we will perform the modifications forfree. The only catch is we ask that you pay the

NIGHT , I CAUGHT MY WIFE LETTING ANOTHER MAN TRY ON MY B ADLANDS PACK . H OW SHOULD I HANDLE THIS SITUATION ?

A: Wow, this is a difficult problem indeed. First you must make it clear to her the pain you areexperiencing and that this breach of trust can-not be tolerated. We are usually firm advocatesof forgiveness but in this case, simply make surenone of your other hunting equipment hasbeen soiled. Then go to your mothers for a fewdays to sort out your feelings.

The key thing to remember is you cant fight

the basic laws of physics (however, you can sureF with them). The fact is at anytime duringa hunt you can be carrying weight equivalentto that of sofa, so it is important to try andkeep the heavy weight as close to your body aspossible. The further the weight moves from

your body the heavier it feels and the moredifficult it is to control. So when carrying your

gear, place heavy, dense items towardsthe front of the packnext to your backand as close to theheight of your shoul-der blades as possible

(if you are a guy). If you are a woman, place the weight asclose to your abdomi-nal region as possible.

ment inside the pack so it is asflat as possible. Remove any items, which arelight and bulky. Now strap the meat to theoutside of the pack and cinch down all thecompression straps as tight as possible aroundthe quarter. Try and keep the load as high onthe pack as you can. Then place your light, bulky items on the outside of that. This willmake the best of a not so great hike out. Please

Note: Each pack model has a specific design which will allow it to carry additional cargo.Remember: a grown man crying can be embar-rassing for everyone in the group, so suck it upand hold your chin high little hunter.

Even if things did not go as planned and youend up only carrying gear, be certain to utilizethe external compression straps and pull themas tightly as you can. Their function is to con-trol the load and keep the pack flat and thusclose to your body. Remember you will spenda lot less energy carrying a flat pack than one

    which is cylindrical.

T AKING CARE OF YOUR HYDRATION BLADDER :

After each use dump out any water left overand leave the lid open so the bag can air out.The next time you use the bladder, it needsto be cleaned. This can be done by a smallamount of bleach. Swish it around then thor-oughly rinse the bag with hot water. The bleachis basically nothing more than chlorine and willkill any bacteria that has begun to develop. Youcan also fill the bag with boiling water. Note: if

you use the boiling water technique, please doso under your wifes supervision, as we do not

want you to burn your trigger finger.

If the Mrs. will not let you use the stove fill thebag and throw it in the microwave for a about60 seconds this should do the trick. However

watch it carefully; we will not be responsible forany hydrogen bombs going off.

Before we start talking about our packs please

note that contrary to popular belief, not everypocket on every pack was designed with anabsolute specific purpose. Yes we had certainideas about what it was to be used for. How-ever, hunters styles and the choice of the geareach person carries is highly subjective and, therefore, sometimes you are just going to haveto put things where it makes sense.

    T HE N ANO

    Overview

So you chose the Nano fanny pack. We com-mend you for your ability to restrain yourselffrom carrying too much gear (sissy). This fannypack represents the cutting edge when it comesto messing with gravitys head. It is thin andrides close to your body so you will never expe-rience any sagging or shifting.

    Suspension

The Nano also has the new Badlands Airtrack

suspension, which will keep you cool andcomfortable all day. If you look closely at the

    brands.Special features:

It was designed for quick trips andscouting and has enough orga-nizational pockets and pouchesto allow you to feel like you arein control, if even for a brief mo-ment. The rear pocket folds downlike a glove box and will give you an exception-al view of all your gear. So who cares if yourbuddies say you have a small one; your skill inusing it is what counts.

    T HE M ONSTER F ANNY :Overview

So you are the more is bettertype, eh ? Well, you came to theright place. The Monster fanny isthe quintessential hunting fannypack. In order to keep all this car-

rying capacity in check, we haveequipped it with several safetyfeatures.

    Suspension

The first is a gnarly set of shoul-der straps in order to helpdistribute the load. However thisis where it gets good. Unzip the small

pocket located on the shoulder strap yoke and voilout rolls a mesh bag, which is designedto hold a 100 ounce water bladder. Loud, inef-ficient water bottles just became the other guys

problem.Second is another Badlands exclusive, it is

what we call the Flex Frame. It is a rod madefrom a material called Delron, which encirclesthe entire pack. The purpose of this frame is tohelp stop even the most insane loads from sag-ging down your butt. It acts like a spring; the

more weight you put into it the more tensionis placed on the Delron and thus the more it

wants to spring back to its original shape. You will definitely notice the difference in how itcarries compared to traditional fanny packs.

Third is the suspension and probably the mostimportant. This is the molded foam which

wraps around your body. Take a closer look, the waist belt has been molded in such a waythat it actually cups around your hip boneinstead of riding on top of them.

This design provides the ultimate in controland comfort. The belt has also been pre curvedand contains multiple densities of foam, which

stiffen it up so the belt can actually support theload (interesting concept, which nobody elsehas seemed to pick up on).

    Special Features

Where do I start? is probably the best ques-tion. With its eight pockets, built in hydrationsystem, and adjustable shoulder straps thisfanny pack is the epitome of special features.

are other companies that have tried to replicatethis system, however they totally missed thepoint. They did it because it looks techy andcool. The reason we did it was to provide you

the best fit possible. That is why when you lookclosely at the foam on your Badlands pack it isthree dimensional.

Others who have tried to replicate this simplytake a sheet of cheap foam and squish somelines into it. We actually use extremely highperformance (and very expensive) EVA foam

which will not only outlast theirs 5 to 1, but itis twice as comfortable and will begin to moldto fit your bodys exact curves as it breaks in.

What that means to you is no hot spots, pres-sure points, or sore muscles.

    Special features

As with all Badlands packs the Superday accom-modates a 100 ounce hydration bladder. Toinstall the bladder (which is available from yourdealer) simply fill the bladder with water anddrop it into the pouch, which is at the front ofthe pack next to the foam suspension. Thenrun the hose up along the pack and have it exitthrough the fabric flap on the shoulder strap.

The Superday also features a bow belt, and aside arm holster (located between the side pock-et and the hip belt). If a side arm is not enoughthere is also a riffle scabbard, which zips out ofthe pouch located below the rear pocket.

    T HE H YPERVENT :

    Overview

All we can do here is commend you for your

excellent eye, for spotting and purchasing themost technologically advanced pack ever built...period. It is 30% lighter than other packs in itssize category, yet has the ability to carry insaneamounts of weight. The Hypervent really epito-mizes what Badlands is all about, and pushesthe envelope of what is possible all the time.

SuspensionThe Hypervent features an hour glass aircraftaluminum frame system which arcs in such a

way as to allow over 600 cubic inches of freshair to pass between you and the pack. Nowtake a look at the shoulder straps, which areperforated, thus allowing the passage of cool air

as well. This system greatly reduces the build upof energy-robbing heat. Not to mention sweatstinks, and we have yet to find an animal whichenjoys the smell of a human bustin a sweat inorder to track him.

You will also notice that this pack has a second-ary frame system to allow it to hold a perfect

shape, thus making it quite easy to access yourgear under any circumstances. This secondaryframe is made from a material called delron, itis super light and super strong and does the jobfor which it was intended better than anything

we have found. The frame in this pack alsoallows you to transfer the load you are carryingto any part of your body that you wish. See thesection on Properly fitting your pack where

we talk about the load lifter straps.

Reducing body heat by thirty some odd percent would put most companies on auto pilot forthe next ten years. However, that is not how weparty around here. The Hypervent also featuresan expandable spotting scope pocket (to putthe Pocket into expansion mode un-zip thebottom). The Hypervent will also carry a boweither on its side or back, whichever works bestfor you. The special bucket top design makes itsuper easy to load and see your gear as well.

    Overview

In Spanish Diablo means Pissed off Bull(Although, we are pretty sure that is a ratherloose translation, but you get the idea). We are

not sure the name fits since it is going to make you anything but.

The idea behind this pack was to see just howfar we could go in what we like to call powerto weight ratios. The rule of this formula is(or should we say used to be) the heavier anempty pack is, the more cargo and weight it is

capable of carrying comfortably due to the factthat additional support is usually attributedto the added weight . Meaning a pack that

weighs 7 pounds dry should be capable of car-rying loads of around 65 pounds without selfdestructing, which is approximately a 9 X s ratio. Our 4500 held the record with a ratio of about11 X s.

By incorporating the newest, lightest, and

strongest materials available (not to mentionsome brilliant engineering), the Diablo hit aratio of 15 X , meaning this pack weighs less thanthree pounds, yet is capable of sustaining loads

of 45 pounds plus. Put that in your pipe andsmoke it

    Suspension

The Diablo utilizes another version of ourHypervent frame system, which is based around2 heat hardened stays. These act like springs

when placed under tension. The result is theabsolute best circulation of cool air ever to passthrough a packactually the only cool air everto pass through a pack before the Hypervent. The shoulder straps are also a Badlands exclu-sive. These little gems are what we like to callseamless technology, which means just that. There are no seams in these straps, therefore,

there is nothing to dig into your shoulders. Asa matter of fact, we are quite confident you willforget you are even wearing a pack. Another fea-ture of the Badlands seamless shoulder strapsis they are tapered. This special tapering causesthem to become gradually thinner at aboutthe halfway mark making for much easier armmovement, smooth effortless bow drawing, andincredible comfort. The waist belt is also perfo-rated to allow for maximum air circulation.

    Special features

A unique drop down pocket we like to callthe Glove Box, which is perfect when yourpack is hanging up, but you still need to access

First off, we just want to know...are you afamous guide, or some sort of Grand Slamrecord holder? Well, even if you are not youhave the eye of one, because you just gravitatedtowards the pack that is worn by more guides

and professional hunters than any other packin the world...period.

The 2200 has spent the last 12 years on everycontinent in the world proving that when itcomes to serious hunting, nothing even comesclose. This pack is rigged not only to hold abow, but a spotting scope, a tripod, a rifle, a

tree stand, and just about anything else yourdevious hunting mind can think of. Oh, weknow what youre doing right now. You aretrying to think of other packs you have seenthat will carry the same.. So go ahead well

wait. Couldnt do it, could you? As a matter of fact, if you can find anyother pack on the market that will perform halfthe duties that the 2200 will and do it half as

of pockets with shoulder straps sewn to them. We were telling you about the most extremelyengineered suspension on the planet.

The 2200 has two T-6 aircraft aluminum stays. This actual aircraft aluminum is not the stuffthey use to make lawn furniture with. Everypart of the pack which touches your body ismolded to fit you shape exactly, like two partsof a puzzle. Novel concept eh? However, at thenend of the day when all your hunting buddiesare sitting on some tree stump looking half

spent because they were to cheap to throwdown for the real thing, you will see first handthe benefits of doing this.

    T HE 2800:

    Overview

If old Charles Darwin himself had to carry a

pack, we guarantee it would be the 2800. Thispack is evolution in progress and every genera-tion it just gets better and better.

It started out years ago with some guides weknew from Alaska that were smart enough torealize the benefits of carrying internal framesinstead of those heinous and heavy externals.

However, they needed to carry meat and a lotof it. Subsequently they showed up on our doorsteps and presented their problem. See, theissue was how could they carry out more thanthey came in with, without having to leave gearbehind, which could mean making two tripsand adding twice as many miles to their day.

What we built then was a rather crude internalframe with some special wrap around pockets, which allowed them to carry their basic gear. However when you released two buckles thepockets folded out of the way allowing themto strap hides, horns and quarters directly tothe frame then fold the pockets containing thetools of their trade back around the animal tohelp stabilize it and allow them to make onlyone trip. A very cool system indeed. However

what about the rest of us who most of the timejust need a regular pack? Well you are lookingat the answer. The new 2800 is versatile enoughto be a great all-round pack, however holds allthe DNA from its original concept to make car-

rying even the weirdest loads quick and comfy.

    The Suspension

When there is a possibility that you will becarrying huge and unwieldy loads nothingsays Im screwed like a cheap pack with nosuspension to help bare the burden. And weregonna tell you that we have never met anyone

who thought they were so smart at the cashregister who would not gladly write a check forthe money they saved when they get to a point

where their pack has to perform. But we allknow by then it is to late.

That being said we made the 2800 with one ofthe finest internal frame systems ever produced.Start with a foundation of a high density poly-ethylene frame sheet which creates a surfacethat will hold its shape under any conditions. This feature is particularly important whencarrying bulky or oddly shaped loads, because

it causes the cargo to take the shape of the packinstead of the other way around, thus keep-ing everything against your back smooth andcomfortable. Down the center of this framesheet we added a single T-6 aircraft aluminumstay which will transfer the load directly to yourhips and will allow you to perform enormousfeats of strength. To finish this masterpiece off

we added a molded foam back piece and hipbelt.

    Special features

The 2800 offer you a main pack section whichis about 1200 cubic inches, two outer compart-ments which are 975 cubes, and a sleeping

bag compartment measuring out at 745 cubicinches. Add it all up and you will realize how

This pack also has a built in rain flap, a gunscabbard, and a multitude of storage options,

which include a bow, tripod, water and muchmore.

    T HE 4500:

    Overview

This pack remained the same for almost 10 years, and that is not because we were lazy.Every time we went to make improvements wecouldnt find anything wrong.

The 4500 started its career as a pack for guidestaking people to the top of K-2, Everest, andDenali. So it has a long heritage of being ableto carry insane loads while remaining nimbleand perfectly balanced. Combine this with allof its hunting specific features and the mosttechnologically advanced suspension everdesigned, and you will see when it comes tobeing self contained and humping huge loads, the 4500 has no equal, in any industry or atany price. This year we took the opportunity to

make this pack hold a spotting scope, a rifle, and a tripod with great ease and convenience.

We added a few additional pockets and made iteven more bomb proof than ever.

The coolest thing the new 4500 received, wasits new outrigger pouch. This is a 2,000 cubicinch mesh bag that tucks away into its own

compartment until it is needed. And when will you need it? As soon as you need to haul

Well sometimes it is more a feelingthan it is words and the 4500 is no different. The suspension in this pack does all the talkingnecessary while you are wearing it, even underthe most extreme conditions.

When designing the suspension for this pack we knew simply using traditional materials would not suffice even if they were of the high-est quality available. So we started from scratch.

We searched for two years to find the substancethat simulate human spine as closely as pos-sible, because that is exactly what a good frameshould do (bypass your back and bare the load).

We settled on a material Polycarbonate. This isamazing stuff. It is 30% lighter than aluminum,

yet twice as strong, and when molded into thecorrect shape it flexes torsionally like the hu-man spine, yet is extremely stiff longitudely andsupports any load your legs can.

To keep things nice and f lat against your back we have added an HDPE frame sheet which alsohelps to distribute loads. The shoulder strapsare the best in the industry and are adjustablefor fine tuning the fit. The back pad and hipbelt have also been made from molded foam,

which has been shaped to emulate the human

form, for a perfect fit.Speaking of fit the 4500 is sized to ensurethat it is perfect for you body shape and torsolength.
