Upgrading From V6.x to V7.0

Add PCS 7 Controllers

DBA will not mark structures created in PCS 7 that represent Bailey Function Codes as Process Objects (PO).

The number of Process Objects is calculated by dividing all external tags by 25.

This was done to streamline licensing since on average, Bailey Function Codes result in less than 15 external tags.

This was also done to ensure the upgradeability of V6.1 projects without the need to add power packs.

90 OS Process Object (PO)*new in 90 OS V7.0

Counting Process Objects simplifies Server Licensing and uses the same definitions used by PCS 7.

Upgrading From V6.x to V7.0

Add PCS 7 Controllers

License Management Unified within PCS 790 OS now counts Process Objects

Starting in PCS 7 V7.0 SP1 WinCC will begin to count Process Objects rather than WinCC tags.

DBA will not mark 90 OS created structures as Process Objects even though they include Messages/Alarming.

The new license schema does two calculations: POs = POs counted + (Non PO external tags/25)

- WinCC Structures without Alarming POs = All External Tags/50

- As an Example:- In V6.1 64,000 WinCC Tags = 2000 POs- In V7.0 64,000 WinCC Tags = 1280 POs

The calculated PO number in the above two calculations must not exceed the # of licensed POs.

90 OS projects average less than 15 tags per Process Object, therefore this should not be an issue when upgrading to V7.0.

Details

Using the same License Management concept as PCS 7 simplifies system specification with expansions using PCS 7.

Improved Engineering Efficiency (More Automation in DBA)A Technological Win-Win

Lock-down updates to a Picture Prevents unwanted changes to symbols/block icons.

Direct Import of SCADA PLC Tags Utilizes the existing Engineering effort that has already been done to define 3 rd

Party devices integrated into InTouch via OPC Servers, typically PLCs. This import includes the definition of scale, engineering units, description, and

alarm/message definitions.

DBA import of the TTG file has been extended to read the number of decimal places to display and automatically applies these definitions to PCS 7.

Auto-Generate Tag Logging Eliminates separate engineering steps currently required to define tags to be

logged.

Reduce the time and costs required to engineer projects that include customized controller objects, by reducing errors through automation.

Standard Trending available in PCS 7 has been improved in V7.0. Bailey OS V6.1 Enhanced Trend now included since PCS 7 V7.0. The trend control now allows the user to export the trend trace data displayed on a

trend.

Engineering costs are reduced by being able to define historization requirements on a type basis.

The Advanced Tuning View allows the user to modify runtime configurable spec parameters in runtime. In addition all other spec parameters can be configured by putting the controller in Configure Mode from the Tuning View. This functionality requires the user to create a ‘new’ security level to limit access to this feature. Also the user can view data as polled rather than report by exception for any block in the controller.

Displays live values via Polling.

Additional Topics

In V6.1 the Station Block output in manual used the same limits as imposed during Auto. This has been changed to allow users to separately define the limits to be imposed during manual operation. The defaults will be 0-100.

Symbols and Faceplates have been updated to include the attributes for defining an Archive Trend. The default definition is to display a Live Trend.

Symbols and Faceplates were updated so that the symbol is highlighted when the faceplate is opened from the symbol. In V6.1 the symbol was highlighted only when opening the graphic using Loop-in-Alarm.
