Discover the Secret ofCape Mountain Whisky

Our Master Distiller skillfully crafts this elegant single grain whisky at the James Sedgwick Distillery, which dates back to 1886, situated at the foothills of the Bain’s Kloof Pass on the banks of the Berg River in Wellington. Bain’s takes its name from one of the most picturesque and magnificent passes in South Africa and also honours Andrew Geddes Bain, the creative mind behind the construction.

Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky owes its delicate aroma and distinctive flavours to the finestquality South Africa grain and pure Cape Mountain waters which flow over 850 million yearold sandstone and indigenous fynbos.

Quite uniquely, the whisky is double matured in specially selected oak casks. After the initialthree years maturation period, it is released from the wood and then once again re-vattedinto oak casks for a further 2 years maturation. This double maturation gives it a smoothermouthfeel and sweet vanilla undertones on the aroma profile. Very few whiskies have thebenefit of double maturation.

Taste Profile:Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky shows an exceptional interaction between spirit and wood to produce a mix of toffee, floral and vanilla aromas and flavours with a hint of spice softened by sweet oak undertones. The result is a warm and extended mouthfeel with an exceptionally smooth finish.
