Page 4: Bajkul Milani Mahavidyalaya Milani Mahavidyalaya [Govt. Sponsored] Estd. – 1964 P.O.-Kismat BajkulDist.-Purba MedinipurPin Code-721655 Web: E-mail: bajkul_college@rediffmail.com

General Disciplines) at the undergraduate and recently postgraduate levels (3-Regular PG Courses & 5-DDE Mode PG Courses). The college campus consists of a lush green atmosphere with play ground, flower gardens, large UG and PG buildings, gymnasium, indoor sports training facilities, students’ hostel, bank, students’ canteen, cycle stand, teachers’ accommodation, Principal’s quarters etc. Currently, an attempt is being made to revamp the outlook of the college by painting all the buildings and major repair works. New constructions for general auditorium, boys’ hostel inside the extended campus, opening of a canteen with modern facilities and subsidized food, digital cataloguing of library books and journals, air conditioned library reading room, photocopy facilities for students and to provide better class room facilities with LCD projectors and ceramic boards etc. are in offing. At our college, a wide variety of subjects are offered at the undergraduate (UG) level. The postgraduate (PG) courses are offered in Sanskrit, Bengali and Geography. We are going to start the journey for another two PG courses in Philosophy and History which is under the permission of our university. The course in relatively newly emerged non‐traditional subjects like NCC is waiting for this session. Our college receives a well‐mixed pool of students from rural and rurban areas. Our students come out with flying colours and they do well in further higher studies. Many of our students excel in Research works and in high profile jobs all over the country and abroad.

II. From The Desk of Teacher-in-Charge (TIC):

Prof. Pijushkanti Dandapath,

The Bajkul Milani Mhaavidyalaya was established on 3rd September 1964 as a Government sponsored College under the Calcutta University. It has come under the preview of the Vidyasagar University with effect from 1985. Its birth initially owes to the sacrifice of the local people in the form of financial assistance and landed property. Many educationists and patricians with lofty ideas extended their helping hands in its formative stage. It was a cherished dream of late freedom fighter and the-then Minister Smt. Ava Maity. The site of the College has a charming view in the background of a luxuriant landscape of nature. It is situated by the side of the Kolkata-Digha highway (NH-116B Nandakumar-Digha highway), and Digha –Tamluk-Panskura-Mecheda-Hawrah and Digha –Tamluk-Panskura-Kharagpur (S.E) railway has passed away embracing the College campus. From a humble beginning, the College has been flourished remarkably and has been serving the cause of education with a fair measure of distinction during the last 53 years. Where the College have been started with 20 students with 08 general subjects in 1964 now it has been increased in nearly 252 fold i.e. 5030 students with 22 U.G. subjects and 01 major subjects and also 3 P.G. subjects. Our college not only champion in academic side but also champion in cultural side as our college students scored as champion in the Football Soccer Tournament-2016 in Vidyasagar University. Our students gladly participated (November-2016) in the 75th year of Great Escape of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. They stood first in the English Essay Writing and Photograph drawing on Subhas Chandra Bose in the district level. Beside the above, the college can boast of 30-qualified permanent full time teachers, 33 part-time teachers, 7 whole time contractual teachers and 66 guest teachers and also many number of highly experienced and qualified eminent visiting faculties, 43 non teaching staff and about five thousand students along with three NSS unit, NCC, Indoor and Outdoor sports facilities with big play ground and big pond for swimming and also beautiful garden, Women’s hostel and teachers’ dormitory, larger central library with over 30,000 books and dept. seminar library and also student motivated memorial prizes and five P.G. At last on behalf of the Institution, I try my best to uphold the fame and glory of the college by inspiring the teachers for research work, publishing papers and books, to undertake minor and major research projects, inspiring the students in more co curricular activities, to construct boys’ hostel, extension of teachers’ quarter and women’s hostel imparting of training in computer courses to Non-Teaching staff for better administration etc. And, in recent, we have taken steps to apply us to the University Grants Commission for C P E and Autonomous College in the 2017-18 session. The college has been reaccredited by NAAC as good college (B category) with CGPA: 2.66 in the April 2015. III. LOCATION: Geographically, our institution, Bajkul Milani Mahavidyalaya is situated in between 22°01´37.5´´ N to 22°01´29.9´´N latitude and 87°49´11.3´´E to 87°49´01.6´´E longitude. Geomorphologically, this is on Bajkul suburb zone over Coastal Purba Medinipur. The site of the college has a charming view in the background of luxuriant rural landscape of nature. At the same time it enjoys a network facility of communications making possible quick travels to important places like Digha (towards South), Calcutta (towards North), two neighborhood district towns, Midnapore (towards North-West) and Tamluk (towards North) and Bwagwanpur Police Station (towards West). Thus the institution has got an extended hinterland from over which thousands of students may avail themselves of the opportunities of receiving education from this ever growing centre of higher education. Moreover, Digha-Tamluk railway has passed though this area embracing the college campus (Nearest station is ‘Deshapran’).

VII. Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC): Maintaining the momentum of quality consciousness is crucial in Higher Educational Institutions. Internal Quality Assurance Cell in fact, is conceived as a mechanism to build and ensure a quality culture at the institutional level. Every Higher Educational Institution should have an Internal Quality Assurance System with appropriate structure and processes and with enough flexibility to meet the diverse needs of the stakeholders. The internal quality assurance mechanism of the institution may be called “Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)”. The IQAC is meant for planning, guiding and monitoring quality assurance and quality enhancement activities of the Higher Educational Institution. The IQAC may channelize and systematize the efforts and measures of an institution towards academic excellence. It should be yet another hierarchical structure or record keeping exercise in the institution; it would be a facilitative and participative organ of the institution. The IQAC should become a driving force for ushering in quality by working out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance quality. Our college, Bajkul Milani Mahavidyalaya has an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) which is duly constituted following the UGC guidelines to meet the diverse needs of the stakeholders and to fulfill the specific objectives of the cell. The IQAC of the college was established in accordance with the guidelines of NAAC on 3rd March, 2007. The IQAC meet at least three to four times every year. In IQAC meetings, a discussion regarding implementing of various recommendations of the NAAC peer team is done and the relevant resolutions are forwarded to the Governing Body for implementation. Implementation is done in collaboration with all
