VISION MONTH
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Newsletter JANUARY 2016
Happy New Year from the Children and Youth Department,
I want to thank all the parents and Children that participated in the Christmas program on December 20, 2015.
The Kids showed their skills on the bucket drums, and some did
recitations while the older kids performed a play
“A Super Christmas”
Cont. Inside
We saw some familiar superhero's, Wonder Women (Eva Frazier), Super Girl (Dynasty Willis), Spider Man (Kenric Ander-
son), Hulk (Maurice Williams), Batman (Elijah Frazier), Cat Women (Breonna Gabriel), Mary (Myla Williams), Joseph
(Noah Frazier), Shepherd (Nyshawn Evans), Shepherd (Nehemiah Evans), Voice (Ryen Lamar). We all learned that even
with all their super powers combined they could not save us. It took a baby “Jesus” coming into this world to save us from
sin.
Baking with Ms. Betty
December 20, 2015 @ 3PM. The
Children and Youth helped Ms.
Betty decorate cookies that were
consumed during the Christmas
Dinner. Over 15 kids enjoyed this
annual cookie baking tradition.

The Health and Wellness awareness ribbon for January is Teal.
By wearing this ribbon, it shows that we are bringing awareness to Cervical cancer in young girls.
Cervical cancer can often be found early and sometimes can be prevented by having regular Pap tests.
If detected early, cervical cancer is one of the most successfully treatable cancers.
Some schools now require young girls to have a vaccine called Gardasil, but with the controversy surrounding this, it is
up to the parent to decide to make that choice.
As a result of cervical cancer treatment and the vaccine, some children may have certain birth defects.
Submitted by the Health & Wellness Team.
Matthew 25:35 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I
was a stranger and you invited me in”
This scripture exemplifies what providing a hot meal on Christmas Day is all
about. Showing the love of Christ to all those in need. Ms. Betty would like
to thank all those who
came out to help and make
this ministry special. Hats
off to Steve Cole for secur-
ing and driving the bus for
pickup. We were all truly
blessed.

Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2PM the United Methodist
Women sponsored their annual Christmas Party. Sis. Gloria
Campbell was the MC for the afternoon. We started off with
some trivia questions, followed by a few questions to get the
group familiar with our tablemates (What was your favorite
Christmas gift and what was your least favorite Christmas gift.)
We then played a few games of Minute to Win It, the Candy
Cane Pick up and the Marshmallow toss.
We enjoyed refreshments, fellowship and Christmas
music. Finally ending with Christmas Carols and the annu-
al reenactment of the “12 Days of Christmas” featuring our
famous/infamous Lords of Leaping.
Start the New Year off right. Here is an
example tithing chart.
Those of you that have not filled out your
pledge cards will be receiving one soon, so
please be in prayer about your pledge for
2016.
Each one must give as he has decided in his
heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for
God loves a cheerful giver.
