to school and place them in our 'Return and Earn' Blue bins located under the Primary Cola and Canteen
area. No glass bottles can be brought to the school for
recycling.

SOLUTION TO TRAFFIC ON BANKSIA ROAD
With the upcoming build, traffic congestion will increase. Teachers will need to park off site as will the builders. I am proposing some solutions as
follows:
- If you are able, please park a suitable
distance away from the school and walk.
If this is not possible:
We are asking parents to register their family to be issued a number which will be used to support
efficient use of the kiss and drop zone.
When your car pulls up at one of the eight kiss and
drop spaces, your registered number will be called and your child(ren) will safely embark in your vehicle.
To ensure this works:
- Students need to arrive promptly at the top gate at 3pm (teachers are also aware).
- Parents will be asked to go around the block
if their child(ren) are not ready.
Please complete the registration form at the end of this newsletter and return to the school office. We will
also email this form if you would like to register
electronically.
READING FOR LIFE
Are you able to spare 45 minutes a week for 15
weeks to assist with a reading program and become a Reading Volunteer Buddy at our school?
Learning Links will train you to work with children and deliver the Reading for Life program, which aims to
improve children’s reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension. Also, most importantly, the
confidence and enjoyment of reading in participating children has increased, influencing their self-esteem and motivation to learn through a variety of fun
activities and games to encourage engagement and interest.
Volunteer reading buddies have also benefited
enormously from their involvement in the program, recognising the difference they have made to children’s lives. Reading for life has been enormously
successful since its development in 2003.
Follow the link for more information, including videos about the programs, and about registering for the training. Make sure you select Banksia Road when
registering. Training will occur at our school on Tuesday 27th August, from 9.30am till 12.30pm.
