DEMONSTRATION FARM Purpose

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Vegetables are 70% organically grown

FOLIAR is the fertilizer applied to the leaves.

Don Bosco has initiated the production of

“foliar” from “vermicast”, earth worms, from

which we obtain vermi-tea. INOCULANTS

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Preparation and application of organic materials (chicken

manure and rice hull) for the vegetable production

COMPOSTING: Don Bosco has facilities for

composting, to produce organic material for

vegetables and crops (GREEN MANURE)

FRAMEWORK OF THE PROGRAM

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Animal raising is the most feasible

agricultural enterprise in the upland areas

Majority of the expenses in growing

farm animals are FEEDS

CORN AND SOYA: 60 % of the ingredients

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Don Bosco has set up feed mill facilities

to produce customized animal feeds

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Don Bosco has adapted the appropriate

technology in GROWING CORN.

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Don Bosco has experimented growing Soya

The results show that Soya grows

well in the Philippines

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

SOYA

It is one of the most important and

nutritious plant. Proteins (40%) and oil

Human Consumption – milk, oil, vegetables

 Animal Feeds including forage

 Industrial Purposes, foam

 Bio-fuel and others

Importation of Soya has a value

of several billions of pesos a year

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

By growing, processing and utilizing soya,

Don Bosco intends to:

Demonstrate that soya can grow well

 Illustrate the importance, appreciation

 Develop techniques in growing,

maintaining, harvesting and post harvesting

procedures ;

Don Bosco uses soya only as animal feeds

A partnership of Don Bosco and DA

was conceptualized and in the

process of implementation

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

“Increasing the Profitability of Livestock

and Poultry through Community Based

Participatory Adaptation of Technology,

Improvement of the Production,

Processing and Marketing of Soya and

Corn for Animal Feeds”

To be implemented through the acquisition

and utilization of EXTRUDER MACHINE

Milling

1 ton

soya

a day for

100 bags

of feeds

Soya Corn

With

Diesel

engine

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

The main function of the

EXTRUDER machine is to

remove the inhibitors

harmful to animals

more nutritious feed

Proteins + oil = full fat soya

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Extruder Machine will contribute:

Encourage more farmers to grow

Significantly decrease the cost

Improve animal health

Improve the technologies on crop

production, swine and poultry raising
