    Welcome and Announcements

    Prayer

    Prelude

    Call to Worship

The powerful voice of God created all worlds. That same voice calls us to worship. Ascribe to our God glory and strength. Come before God’s glorious majesty. God’s strength shakes the wilderness. That same strength is offered to people of faith. The flames of God penetrate our cold hearts. May God bless all people with true peace. Come together to remember your baptism. Gather to celebrate the Spirit’s gifts. The heavens open to us at the Word of God. Surely God forgives and makes whole.

Hymn #190 “Songs of Thankfulness and Praise” (see insert) Verses 1 and 2 for reflection

    Prayer of Confession

We come as your baptized believers, O God, confessing our sins. You send forth your Spirit, yet we do not respond to your presence. You set us apart as water is poured over us, yet our behavior in faith does not match our unique status. Christ calls us to follow; yet we disobey his commandment. Evidence of your goodness surrounds us, yet we ignore your gracious ways. Have mercy upon us, and in your love uphold us. Above all, teach us the meaning of repentance.

  • Time of Personal Confession

    Assurance of Pardon

    Scripture Mark 1:4-11 (NRSV)

4 John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 He proclaimed, “The one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. 8 I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” 9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. 11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”

    Children’s Sermon

Hymn #136 “On Jordan’s Bank the Baptist’s Cry” (see insert)

Verses 1, 2 & 4 for reflection Sermon “Haunted by Waters”

Pastoral Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

  • Call to Offering

    Offertory

    *Doxology

    Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

    Praise Him, all creatures here below;

    Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host;

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

    *Prayer of Dedication

Source of eternal renewal, we come before you full of new life. We hear Christ’s call to follow, and seek to obey. We yearn to be faithful as his baptized believers. Accept these offerings as signs of our commitment, and use us to lead others to repentance. We pray in the name of him who calls us his own.

Hymn #758 “Baptized in Water” (see insert)

THINGS OF INEREST TO OUR PALM FAMILY

    SOUP-ER BOWL SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2021

We’ve had to “change it up” this year due to both the pandemic and our Ladies’ Aid not being able to make soup for Soup-er Bowl Sunday. So, whether you’re a football fan or not, would you please consider donating canned soup to our local, non-profit community service center THE OPEN LINK? You can drop your donated

items off here, at the church, and place in the marked box or take your items directly to The Open Link (452 Penn Street, Pennsburg). Either way you can make it a SOUP-ER day for a person or family in need this year! JAMS & JELLIES FOR SALE

Only 3 jars are left of homemade jams and jellies! You can

find them on the table in the Narthex for just $6.00 a jar!

Leave your money in the box available and ENJOY!

  • ALENTINE’S DAY WISHES (Diaconate Sponsored Valentine’s Day Cards to our Homebound Members & Friends)

As with many activities, the Diaconate is adjusting how the congregation will send this year’s Valentine’s Day greetings to our sick and shut-in members and friends. You have a few options on how you can submit your Valentine Greeting:

You can drop off a (only one needed) card in the bag designated “Valentines” at the table in the Narthex. Be sure to write a message and sign your card.

OR, you can mail a card to the church office. Address the envelope: Valentine’s Project c/o Palm Schwenkfelder Church, PO Box 66, Palm, PA 18070

OR, email your Valentine’s Day message to the office. Digital images are welcome as well. Email to [email protected]. It is helpful to add Valentine’s Project in the Subject Line.

OR, Submit your message which can include an image by visiting:

    https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/nXLNePVw. Click on the +

(Plus) to add your message and, if you would like, upload or select

an image to go with your message.

All messages (including images) will be combined, printed and mailed to our sick and shut-ins. YOUR GREETINGS NEED TO BE RECEIVED BY FEB 7th.

  • Did You Know…?

This is where we list items of interest to members and visitors. If you

have any items to add, please call or email Leslie in the church office.

    Thank you.

If you are unable to worship with us on Facebook, you can go

to our YouTube page, Palm Schwenkfelder Church –

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNwkTg3zcUXCFJct5IIOGOA

    LARGE PRINT bulletins are available.

Considerations for our current in-person worship service:

o Please stay at home if you don’t feel well.

o Everyone age 2 and older should wear your mask

throughout the service and in the church building.

o Social distancing continues to be practiced. Members

of the same household may sit together.

o Please do not congregate together before/after

    services.

o Hand sanitizer, wipes and masks are available.

o Only 1st floor restrooms of the educational wing are

available. There is a handicapped accessible restroom

that includes a baby changing table, if needed.

CCTV – We broadcast the Sunday worship service on closed

circuit televisions in both the Nursery and the Adult Sunday

    School Room.

There are two, large yellow and green dumpsters in the back

corner of the parking lot for recycling your office paper and

newspaper. The church benefits from these collections, along

    with helping the environment.

In case of a medical emergency, there is an AED (Automated

External Defibrillator) located in the rear of the Sanctuary, in

the alcove where the sound system and mailboxes are

    located.
