Annie Armstrong Easter Offering challenge setBy Jonathan Guenther

season, churches across the world participate in the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.

In 2015, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering goal is $60 million. In 2014, gifts to the offering accounted for $57 million.

Gifts to the offering, named for Annie Armstrong in 1934, support North American Mission Board missionaries and their work. The

offering accounts for 49% of the NAMB budget.

The Week of Prayer for Send North America and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering will be held March 1-8. More

information on the Week of Prayer and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering will be featured in the February Baptist Beacon.

Three Men’s Retreats scheduled for early 2015 By Jonathan Guenther

Managing EditorThree Men’s Retreats are

scheduled at Bambi Lake Conference and Retreat Center in Roscommon in the first three months of 2015.

The first retreat, set for January 16-18 features speaker Jim McNiel. A longtime music evangelist, McNiel is known as “The Walking Bible” for his special gift of memory.

The second retreat, to be held February 6-8, features international

evangelist Jim Wilson. Wilson averages 35 weeks of evangelistic work each year and has ministered to 43 different countries.

The final retreat, scheduled for March 6-7, features Gary Miller of Outdoor Truths Ministries. Miller, a pastor in Tennessee, writes a newspaper column to hunters and fishermen.

Multi-Associational Youth Retreat to be held at Bambi LakeBy Jonathan Guenther

Managing Editor“Rooted,” a multi-

associational winter youth retreat, will be held at Bambi Lake Conference and Retreat Center January 30-February 1, 2015. The retreat will focus on helping students to be grounded in their faith.

The retreat will feature guest speaker Zac Weaks and will include worship, breakout sessions, and

games.The event will cost

$80, which will include all meals on Saturday and Sunday breakfast. A deposit of $40 per student and a list of students attending should be sent to Bambi Lake by January 10.

Women’s Winter Missions Retreat coming in February By Jonathan Guenther

Managing EditorThe 2015 Women’s Winter

Missions Retreat will be held February 20-22 at Bambi Lake Conference and Retreat Center in Roscommon.

The retreat features guest speaker Eleanor Witcher of the International Mission Board.

The theme is “S3: Surrender,

Sacrifice, Serve.” Worship will be led by Merriman Road Baptist Church’s “Legacy.” In addition to inspirational worship sessions, women can enjoy several small group conferences, crafts, fellowship, and more.

VBS Institutes scheduled for April and May

2015 Vacation Bible School Institutes will be held Saturday, April 11 at Merriman Road Baptist Church in Garden City and May 2 at Bambi Lake Retreat and Conference Center in Roscommon.

Vacation Bible School institutes provide an opportunity for church VBS leaders to become familiar with the curriculum and receive training on leading the program successfully.

“Journey off the Map” is the 2015 Vacation Bible School theme.

Each session will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 3:00 pm. The cost for each event is $6.00 and lunch is included.

Disaster Relief training set for spring 2015By Jonathan Guenther

Managing EditorMichigan Baptist Disaster Relief

will offer a variety of training opportunities in spring 2015.

Five unit training dates are available. The first, held April 10-11, will take place at Warren Woods Baptist Church in Warren Woods. Subsequent training events will be held May 1-2 at Grace Church in Jackson, May 29-30 at Remedy Church in Kentwood, June 12-13 at Bambi Lake Retreat and Conference Center in Roscommon, and June 26-27 at

Abundant Life Church in Kingsford.All events will take place on

Friday night from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturday morning from 9:30

am to noon and cost $35 to attend.

Blue Hat training will be offered Saturday, March 28 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Recertification is $10 and is needed every three years if a volunteer has

not participated in a call-out within that time period.
