Barbara KrugerBorn in 1945 American conceptual artist. Her first artworks have been made in 1969. Most of her artwork consists of black and white photographs with text written white on red and sometimes red outline around the image. She often uses pronouns in the text on her artwork making it more powerful. Her work always have a strong meaning behind and tries to get the point across to the audience.

This artwork does not use many colors but the ones that are used, red, black and white are really strong and make the image effective. There is a high contrast between white and black what decrease the use of grey on the image. The artwork is made of a photograph of a screaming monkey and text. The text is in a red square and is written in bold, white font. The box with text is small but it is located in the center of the image. The rough texture of the monkey's skin and strong colors make the overall artwork terrifying. The monkey looks like its in pain. The text added to the photograph adds meaning to it and explains the content to the audience. I think the message behind the artwork is about animal cruelty and the artist is trying to say it is worthless and ruthless.

The colors used in this artwork are very limited, it uses only red, black, white and greys. These colors are very strong and make the artwork effective, also red used for outline and the text boxes is very vibrant what make the artwork stand out. The font used is bold and a simple san serif type what makes it very clear and easy to read. The artwork consists of a photograph of a polar bear in the middle of an ocean of a small, melting piece of ice. The mood of the artwork is quite dramatic, the polar bear looks helpless and scared, holding onto the last piece of ice. The text added to the image links to the content and adds the meaning. I think that the artist is trying to get people's attention onto to the topic of global warming but not only. She is showing the bear suffering because of what others did and it is not its fault. The text could also link to people who always try to get out of the situation with the blame. It is our fault that the bear is in this situation and that is what she is trying to say.
