BARNES CLOSE & THE COMMUNITY FOR RECONCILIATION

Barnes Close was built in the 1930’s for the Cadbury Family. On the south facing slopes of the Waseley Hills it has views over the entire county of Worcestershire to the Malvern Hills. During World War II it was used to house a Salvation Army girls’ home from Southend-on-Sea. After the war the Birmingham Sunday School Un-ion (later the Council for Christian Education took it on as a youth centre. In 1986 CfR moved to Barnes Close as a permanent home for its work.

At Barnes Close we welcome guests for a wide range of activities as outlined in this brochure and for their own programme of activities. We serve over five thou-sand home produced meals to guests each year and special diets are no problem to us.

Barnes Close also serves as the base for our support of work away from the UK. We have four main internation-al projects: - CfR Afghanistan works with Afghan Mother & Child Rescue to provide village schools for girls and boys • CfR Footprints works with local partners to run

courses of reconciliation in Croatia and Serbia • CfR UnAfrAid works primarily in East Africa in partnership with PHARP, Maji Mazuri & ICRP Burundi • CfR Romania Concern currently supporting youth

camps & Pastor Exchanges

Barnes Close is home to a small team of part-time staff and short term international volunteers who welcome all our visitors
