Case history: the Barolo & Friends Event

•As of several years, Consorzio i Vini del Piemonte has organized, in Copenhagen, a promotional event named “Barolo & Friends Event”, which includes a workshop for professionals, “walking tastings” for the paying public and different side events such as seminars, in-depth laboratories and dinners with the producers

•Over the last few years, the event, now at its sixth edition, has become the biggest and most visited appointment dedicated to wine taking place in Denmark

•The 2014 event recorded the attending of some 40 Piedmontese wine companies, beside some Italian food producers as well as some 400 professional operators and 2000 wine lovers

Børsen Palace: it is the historical seat of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In the first half of 1600, King Christian IV built it as the seat for international exchange and was used for these purposes up until the 19th century. Today it hosts meetings and private events and is one of the most prestigious locations in the capital to organize events dedicated to wine. The six editions of the “Barolo & Friends Event” have all taken place inside this palace.

Almost 20 Brunello producers and 20 Barolo producers will present their best Docg labels at an event open to the final consumers (who will pay an admission fee) and some representatives of the sector, such as journalists, restaurateurs, sommeliers and importers (upon invitation)

In-depth laboratoriesNovember 21st 2014

To make the event more innovative and experiential, various in-depth laboratories will be organized:

•A Brunello vertical tasting and a Barolo vertical tasting, with 5 different vintages for each wine

•Two comparative tastings of vintages different from those presented in the hall: Red of Montalcino and Nebbiolo; Barolo and Brunello; Barolo Reserve and Brunello Reserve

•Two Wine & Cheese tasting laboratories with 2 Brunello and 2 Barolo paired with 4 cheeses from Piedmont and 4 cheeses from Tuscany

Promotion

On November 21st 2014, the Italian Embassy in Copenhagen convened a press conference at Børsen Palace in order to present the two denominations and their territories for tourist purposes.

At the press conference, Danish journalists from the main newspapers and magazines of the wine sector (but not only) and some Italian journalists of international level will be invited.

During the event, there will be a promotional-tourist desk of Consorzio del Brunello and Strada del Barolo.
