4050 HF SDRBARRETT
The Barrett 4050 transceiver is the centrepiece of theHF SDRBarrett range of communications equipment. It combinesHFSoftware-Defined Radio technology with the intuitive "easeof use" that has become synonymous with the Barrett name. When teamed with other Barrett products, the versatileHFBarrett 4050 transceiver provides secure email, data transferand telephone connectivity within a network andHFoutwards to international telephone and internet networks. The Barrett 4050 transceiver can be controlled from all majormobile and desktop platforms. The Barrett 4050 remotecontrol app supports i , Android and Windows devices forOSwireless voice and radio control.
Software-Defined ArchitectureThe Barrett 4050 transceiver's advanced Software-Definedarchitecture provides complete software control of RFmodulation and bandwidths, providing unprecedentedflexibility and reliability with ease of upgrade. Customemissions and filter bandwidths of up to 4 kHz can beenabled with a simple swipe of the touchscreen.

Digital and Secure Digital Voice (optional)Digital Voice ( ) can improve the reliability ofDVcommunications over noisy channels where reception ofanalogue voice can be very poor. Voice can be improvedmarkedly by the use of digital voice modules to the pointwhere barely usable frequencies are made clear. SecureDigital Voice ( ) allows users to encrypt theirSDVcommunications over radio providing a secureHF HFnetwork. Barrett offer two encryption standards. A non-SDVexport controlled 56 vocoder with rates of 700, 1200DESand 2400bps or an export controlled 256 vocoder withAESrates of 600, 1200 and 2400bps. Both deliver cutting edgevoice communication performance and security at all times.
IP Network ConnectivityBuilt into the 4050 control head, the wireless acesspointallows mobile cellular handsets, tablets and desktop s toPCconnect directly to the transceiver over Wi-Fi using theoptional Wi-Fi adaptor.
Ethernet connectivity to additional configurations isIPprovided for by way of a standard 45 ethernet socket onRJthe rear of the 4050ip transceiver.
Multi-Language MenuChange the Barrett 4050 language setting at the touch of abutton. Each radio ships with multiple language menusincluding English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Turkishand Chinese.
Frequency Hopping (optional)The unique, easy to use Frequency Hopping* option requiresno central synchronisation station, has no entry or late entrytime delay and requires no handshaking. Available hoppingrates of 5 or 25 hops per second, the use of an 8 digit hoppingencryption key, with a user selectable hopping bandwidth tosuit a variety of antenna types, the system provides excellentprotection against electronic warfare ( ) attacks and can beEWoperated for extended periods in the field withoutsynchronisation. * Subject to export controls
Enhanced Noise ReductionDSPThe digital signal processor ( ) provides clear intelligibleDSPvoice communications on analogue circuits through thedigital removal of background noise and interference. TheDSP noise reduction system provides outstanding voicequality by reducing radio frequency interference, and theeffects of electrical interference by enhancing audio signalsto provide clearer communication.
Integrated InterfaceGPSBarrett's interface supports connection of anyGPS NMEA0183 external receiver antenna for tracking applications.GPSThis interface enhances emergency call features and positioninformation on all deployed equivalently equipped assets.HFCombined with Barrett's soon to be released PushGPStracking solution, Barrett can provide unrivalled assettracking performance over radio.HF
Advanced Calling FeaturesThe Barrett 4050 transceiver is fully interoperable withadvanced digital selective calling systems commonly used bymany peacekeeping and non-government organisationsglobally. The Barrett 4050 transceiver provides four and sixdigit selective call features, including telephone interconnect,SMS GPStext, tracking, status calling, point to point and/ormultipoint secure call and remote transceiver disablecapabilities.
Automatic Link Establishment (optional)Backwards compatible 2nd generation (2G) , based onALEMIL STD JITC FED STD- -188-141B ( certified) and - -1045, isavailable as an option for automatic point-to-point and/ormultipoint calling including telephone interconnect, AMDtext messaging and position. For superior fast link setupGPS( ), robust packet data and greater penetration on noisyFLSUchannels, 3rd generation (3G) based on 4538 isALE STANAGalso available.
Data Modem CapabilityMultiple data waveform options are provided in the Barrett4050 including - -188-110A/B ( 4285, 4415,MIL STD STANAG4481, 4529, 4539), 2500, 3000 and theCLOVER CLOVERforthcoming standard. Combined with Barrett'sCLOVER NGlatest Digital Transmission software and intuitive userinterface, these waveforms provide unparal leledperformance with "throughput" rates up to and in excess of19200 bps.

The fully featured Barrett 4050 control handset providesstreamlined radio control particularly in vehicle and marineinstallations. The handset can be used as the primary controlinterface, completely replacing the standard 4050 frontcontrol panel or as a secondary interface in conjunction withthe standard control panel. IP/WiFi connectivity can beachieved with theoptional USB Interface(P/N 4090-01-27)
Flexible Configuration OptionsThe transceiver mounts easily to the Barrett 4022 powersupply for base station operation or the front panel can beremoved for installation in a vehicle.
The 4050 software has four separate theme modes for use inSDRdifferent ambient light conditions. The screen can also be turnedinto landscape format via the user interface, if required.
