    BAR Training Services (BARTS) set the standards in industry specic training to BAR Members and theremovals industry as a whole. BARTS training courses and workshops are available on site at your premises,delivered by BARTS Field Trainer. BARTS Trainers also provide training in your area or welcome you to obtainqualications and acquire skills at BAR Head Ofce in Watford.

    To save you the travel and accommodation costs that would be incurred when sending personnel away fromthe workplace, all of BARTS training courses are available on your premises at your convenience. Eachcourse can be fully tailored to suit your individual company requirements. BARTS services include careerdevelopment, management training and a full range of progressive skills based training. BARTS commitmentto improving the skills of the industry includes the production of a nationally recognised apprenticeship schemedeveloped specically for the removal industry.

    The Driver CPC rules affect everyone who drives

    vehicles over 3.5 Tonnes vocationally.

    In order to legally drive LGVs and HGVs, Drivers

    must hold a valid Driver Qualication Card (DQC),

    and in order to remain qualied they must attend

    35 hours of Driver CPC Periodic Training before the

    expiry date shown on their DQC.

    Remember: This is periodic training and therefore

    every time your card renews, you will need to

    continue to attend 35 hours of periodic training

    prior to your card expiring again.

    The following Driver CPC training modules are

    available through BARTS:

    Emergency Situations: This module enables the trainee to identify

    how emergency situations can develop, what to do if they happen

    and what they can do prevent the situation developing further.

    Module Content: Breakdowns, emergencies on the motorway,

    accidents, incidents involving dangerous goods, aggressive

    behaviour, emergency aid and how to report an incident.

    Safe & Fuel Efcient Driving: This course demonstrates the impact

    of safe and efcient driving, including the impact on the vehicle, the

    individual, the company and the environment.

    Module Content: Safe and efcient driving, braking, forward

    planning, gear selection, hazards, load positioning, skip gears or

    block changes, speeding, tyres and weather conditions.

    Company Image & Customer Care: Understand the impact and

    importance of good customer service and care including how your

    role impacts the companys images.

    Module Content: Understanding customer care, listening skills,

    using questions, using customer care to increase sales, dealing withcustomer complaints.

    Packing: It is essential that during a removal all fragile items are

    packed properly using the correct materials, not only to ensure the

    economic use of all packing materials.

    Module Content: Customers expectations, required standards,

    weight of carton, setting up a workstation, premises protection,

    sequence of packing, correct selection and use of materials.

    Vehicle Loading:A cor rectly loaded vehicle ensures that items are

    well protected and remain undamaged. This course teaches correct

    methods of loading and the various considerations such as weight

    limits/distribution within the vehicle.

    Module Content:Correct loading procedures, vehicle positioning,

    vehicle capacity, weight distribution, part loads, load evaluation,

    loading sequence, loading over the top, load protection, securing the

    load, unloading.

    Manual Handling: This course covers the health & safety at work

    regulations, types of injury, and the correct methods that should be

    used when lifting and moving items.

    Module Content: Importance of correct manual handling, kinetics

    of the spine, types of injury, safe lifting procedures, single lifts, team

    lifts, lifting aids, safe use of equipment.

    Risk Assessment: Risk assessments are important to protect

    your workers and business as well as complying with the law. This

    course demonstrates how to identify hazards and reduce risk in the

    workplace.

    Module Content: Identifying hazards, evaluating risks, recording

    risk assessments, reducing risks, managing risks.

    Driver Essentials (7 hours):The course aims to make the drivers

    aware of the drivers hours rules and regulations and other regulations

    regarding working time and making them realise the importance of

    abiding by these rules.

    Module Content: EU Drivers Hours, Domestic Rules, Mixed EU

    and Domestic driving, Daily driving hours, Breaks from driving,

    Daily and weekly rest periods, Reduced daily rest calculations, Split

    rest, Daily rest interruption, Multi-manning, Emergencies, Working

    time regulations, Periods of availability, The tachograph, Analogue

    and Digital operations, Penalties and infrigement, Daily walk-round

    checks.

    Prevention of Physical Risks: This module enables the trainee

    to identify physical risks to health and the potential to cause harm.

    They can then identify the risk and the actions to minimise the risk

    to health.

    Module Content: The principle of ergonomics, the potential harm

    that can be caused by some movements, post posture and effects

    of physical tness, manual handling, handling equipment and

    accidents at work.

    Description: All workers have a right to work in places where risks to their health and safety areproperly controlled. The Health & Safety Executive is responsible for enforcing the Health & Safetyat Work etc Act 1974 which states that all staff are suitably trained in the prevention of physical riskboth to themselves and to others. This course demonstrates the methods of identifying and reducingrisks in the workplace.

    Course Content: Current legislation, responsibilities, identifying & reporting risks, re safety,basic rst aid, manual handling.

    Description: Health and Safety at Work Regulations require employers to provide their employeeswith health and safety information and training. This should include as necessary information andtraining on manual handling injury risks and prevention. On this course students will learn the typesof injury that are caused through poor manual handling and the correct methods that should be usedwhen lifting and moving items.

    Statutory Training Courses:

    Description:Managing health and safety is little different from managing any other aspect of yourbusiness. You need to do a risk assessment to nd out about the risks in your workplace, put sensiblepolicies in place to control them and make sure they stay controlled. BAR Training Services can doall this for you!

    Course Content: The package contains: Risk assessment CD complete with blank templates. A fullhealth & safety assessment of your business. Complete health & safety policies written specicallyfor your business.

    Description: It is a criteria of BAR membership that members must be able to demonstrate thatall staff employed, hired or engaged are suitably trained and qualied. An induction programmeincluding a full health and safety procedure must be in place for all staff, and written records mustbe kept of the training undergone by each employee, including health and safety related training.This course gives students a brief history of the industry and covers all the necessary legislation

    associated with induction training.

    Description:Container loading plays a huge role in our sector and there are many elementsto consider when loading a container. A correctly loaded container ensures that items remainundamaged and are well protected. This course teaches students the correct methods of loading acontainer.

    Description: The BARTS Train the Trainer programme provides personnel with the opportunity tobecome a qualied in house BAR Trainer. Once qualied, attendees are able to train other membersof staff within their organisation and issue BAR Training Certicates.

    Management Training Courses:

    Description: The BTEC Award in Practical Estimating is a nationally recognised qualicationdesigned to improve the knowledge and skills of Estimators. The two day course includes three sitevisits to local properties where students will carry out mock surveys.

    Course Content: The structure of the industry, the unit system, the role of the Estimator/Surveyor,risk assessment, the Estimators report, communications skills, contract conditions, selling thecompany services, removal insurance, practical visit to 2 local properties
