Welcome to the BAS Broadcasting 2015 Racing Guide. In the pages of this informative magazine you will fi nd schedules for all the area tracks – this is a great resource to keep in your vehicle or camper throughout the next few months. I have been a race track announcer for over 30 years and feel truly blessed to have been raised and continue to live in this region. Ohio offers THE BEST in racing from dirt track to high speed asphalt to one of the world’s best drag racing facilities. Did you know there are more than 769 dirt tracks across the United States with more than 80,000 drivers competing each year? Over 1.3 mil-lion fans attend short track acing each weekend from February through November with 52 million tickets sold just at dirt tracks each year. Think about that….that’s more than NASCAR, the NFL, NBA and NHL combined! The 2015 racing season has begun around our neck of the woods and it promises to be a good one. Three time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart continues to get heavily involved in short track racing. Not only does he own a

World of Outlaws sprint car team and the world famous half-mile dirt track located near Celina, Ohio – Eldora Speedway – he recently purchased the country’s oldest touring dirt track sprint car organization – the Univer-sity of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions. This series has 54 races on the schedule (fi ve have already taken place in Florida) with stops in our area at Attica Raceway Park, Fremont Speedway, Wayne County Speedway, Atomic Speedway just to name a few. The 33rd Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek will take place June 19-27 and features nine straight nights of racing at eight different tracks across the Buckeye State. Speaking of Eldora…it was with heavy heart race fans across the world learned of the death of the track’s builder Earl Baltes. Baltes is solely responsible for lifting short track racing into prominence in the 1960s and throughout his tenure of owning “The Big E.” He was a showman’s showman and will be missed. In our area, Fremont Speedway has another exciting summer of racing planned as the track celebrates its 65th season of racing. “The Track That Action Built” is located in the Sandusky County Fairgrounds and races

Attica Raceway Park will bring in the biggest names in sprint car and late model racing in 2015 as the track celebrates its 28th year of racing. “Ohio’s Finest Racing” venue hosts winged 410 and 305 sprints, late models and dirt trucks every Friday night at the Attica Fairgrounds facil-ity. For those who love pure speed, Summit Motorsports Park drag strip near Norwalk has your fix. Home of the exotic and unbelievably fast super modifieds, Sandusky continues to grow each year. Millstream Speedway near Findlay, Ohio, has struggled to stay alive but thanks to Fre-mont, Ohio’s Randy and Lisa Hammer the track may be back for good in 2015. There are currently eight races planned for the dirt track this season. Also, Mansfield Motorsports Park – which began as a dirt track in the 1960s and was later paved – may roar back to life in 2015. The track, which had hosted the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for several years but has sat dormant the past handful of years, may be back in action this summer. Not only is Ohio a hot bed for short track racing, throw in tracks in
