Welcome to the 2012 Festival of Homes. The economy is starting to improve and interest rates are at a historic low. Now is a great time to buy that new home.

I would like to invite you to visit all the homes in the Festival of Homes this year. We have homes ranging from just over 1,400 square feet to over 4,000 square feet. Your perfect home could be in the pages of this magazine.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Alan Cheshier of Muirfield Homes by Alan Cheshier for building our 2012 Festival Show Home. This beautiful home is located at 3109 24th Ave SE in the St. James Park addition, on 24th Ave SE just south of Highway 9. It's that time again — time for the 2012 Festival of Homes! Our builders, contributors and Festival committee members have worked hard to create a exciting experience for visitors touring all the homes this year. We have twenty homes in the areas of Moore, Norman and Newcastle with a variety of home design and features. Everything thing from starter homes to dream homes are on this tour!

ABOUT THE BUILDERMuirfield Homes was founded in December 1997 by Alan Cheshier in Norman, Oklahoma. Alan has been in the home building business and lived in Norman since 1986. Alan is a native of Dallas, Texas and earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing / Computer Information Systems from Baylor University in Waco. He worked for 2 years in the National Accounts Division of IBM Corporation, in Dallas. Married to Suzanne since August 1985, Alan has three children; daughters Darian and Camryn and son Troy.

Alan has served twice as President of the Builders Association of South Central Oklahoma (BASCO) as well as on the Board of Directors. He has served as Festival of Homes Chairman three times and holds the Life Spike designation with the National Association of Home Builders for the recruitment of new members into the association. Alan is a Certified Professional Builder as well as a Certified Green Professional Builder. He served as the Education Chairman for the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association for three years. Alan has been active in City government as well. Appointed by the Mayor, he served as a Commissioner on the Parks and Recreation Board for 6 years, and served on the Citizens Coalition for the Future of Norman Waste Water.

Through the years there has been frequent discussion concerning a more formalized and regulated compliance of these values through some system of licensing, registration or certification. The Professional Builders Certification is a comprehensive, specific designation that can help to distinguish home builders who have committed to higher standards of professionalism.

All active members of the Oklahoma State Home Builders Association, either through local association membership, chapter affiliation, or via the at-large designation, shall be eligible to qualify for the Certified Professional Builder designation. All designees must comply with appropriate Oklahoma statutes that concern Residential Contractors including Workers Compensation Insurance and General Liability coverage.
