SUBMISSION INFORMATIONAll submissions are requested by the 15th of the month preceding issue.
Please note per BCOA Ballot 2004 – 48, published in January 2005 Bulletin Board:
“BCOA members incurring expenses covering BCOA budgeted items during the fiscal year shall submit invoices to the Treasurer on or before March 1st of the next year to be eligible for reimbursement. Expenditures incurred by members that are not covered by the Budget shall require Board approval. These bills shall be submitted to the Treasurer on or before February 1st of the next year. Committee Chairs shall be responsible for notifying committee members to submit receipts for expenses within this time frame.”
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELYWanda Pooley (IL) has resigned her positions as a member of the BCOA Board and as Chair of the National Specialty Oversight Committee effective April 3, 2009. Pursuant to BCOA's By-Laws, the Board has voted that Brenda Philips (WA) shall fill the vacant Board seat for the balance of Wanda Pooley's term. Ms. Philips received the next-highest number of ballots in the 2008 annual election.

NATIONAL SPECIALTY DEADLINESAs you know many national specialties are in the works at the same time. Past, present, and a couple of future all being juggled, some going up and some coming down. Here are just of few of the coming up membership deadline dates for some of the specialties for the current year of 2009.Specialty Date:2009: After specialty: 15 days, All bills submitted to Specialty Treasurer.
60 days final financial report from National treasurer to BCOA treasurer.2010: Before specialty: Sept 15, Obedience, Lure Coursing, African stock Exhibition, Agility, and
Junior Showmanship judges selected and approval requested.Nov 15, judges under contract
2012: Before specialty: May 15, Deadline for host site proposals. This is normally April 1, but has been extended this year.
April 15, normal deadline for judges nominations. This also has been extended due to development of a new procedure.
June 15, Site/Judge tallier mails host proposal/judge ballots to members.July 15, Close of host proposal/judge member votingAugust 5, tie breaking ballots for host site/ judges mailed if needed.August 20, Close of any necessary judges’ runoff voting

Mileage Policies Governing Conformation Events The Board reviewed two proposed policy changes that would relax distance requirements for clubs in isolated areas. To be reviewed again in April.
Additional Conformation Titles: The Board reviewed a staff proposal to create a pilot program to introduce additional AKC conformation titles. To be reviewed again in April.
