In information technology, hardware is the

physical aspect of computers,

telecommunications, and other devices. The

term arose as a way to distinguish the

"box" and the electronic circuitry and

components of a computer from the program

you put in it to make it do things. The

program came to be known as the software.

Software is a general term for

of programs used to operate

thought of as the variable part of

In computing, an input device is a

peripheral (piece of computer

hardware equipment) used to provide

Examples of input devices include

keyboards, mouse, scanners, digital

cameras and joysticks.

An output device is any device used

to send data from a computer to

another device or user. Most computer

data output that is meant for humans is

in the form of audio or video. Thus,

most output devices used by humans

are in these categories. Examples include

monitors, projectors, speakers,

headphones and printers.

An input device is simply something that is used to interact with,

or provide data to, the computer, as opposed to an output

device that displays data for the user. Everyone that has used a

computer has also used an input device, such as a keyboard or

mouse.
