Astrology subject is prevalent all over the world, in different forms, from immemorialtimes. With present socio-economic globalization the subject of astrology is also gainingits popularity.

Vedic astrology originated from Vedas in Indian sub continent. Astrology deals withplanetary influence on human body and mind. Added to that planetary influence the internalgenetic influence also manipulates the functioning of human body and mind. Thus thehuman life events are influenced both by genetic and planetary effects.

Many systems have developed in Astrology. Yet the fundamentals of Graha tatwa,Rasi tatwa, Bhava tatwa are common at all times in all systems. Classical writers havegiven basic principles and suggested to use such principles as per the place, time andchanging living conditions. In the process, many systems of Astrology developed, fromtime to time, in various parts of the globe for a matter of the application of basic principlesto local conditions.

ABOUT KP SYSTEMKP System of astrology is an offshoot of Vedic astrology. The principle of KP System

of astrology is based on "Dhruva Nadi" of Satacharya and in a way it is said as NadiSystem.

This system is well propounded by late Prof. Krishna Murthy of Chennai (India) in20th century. It has become popular by his name as "Krishnamurthy Paddathi ". Thus thesystem is popularly called as "K.P.System". This system was seriously criticized, inearlier days, by many classical astrologers mainly for few reasons viz., that Prof.KrishnaMurthy has evolved a short cut method due to his ardent devotion (upasana) to LordGanesha. So it cannot be practiced by each and all. Another difficulty was due to laboriouscalculations involved in manually casting a birth chart in K P System. However, thefounder with his visiting lectures at different places in India and in few foreign countrieshas sown deep rooted seeds.

[ v ]

With the advent of computer software in astrological programs the casting of chart inKP system has become easy. Now many astrologers are jumping into this system and it isspreading well. With present global trends in astrology the validity of this system isgaining much more importance. Of late, many and many research scholars are gettinginvolved in this system. Most of the software packages have a developed a special modulefor casting K P Birth charts.

K.P. system is mainly arrived by blending the Vedic nirayana system with certainprinciples of Western astrology. It can also be observed that the best of many systems ofastrology were adopted in this KP system. With recent globalization of human cultureand the global awareness of astrology this KP system is gaining much more importancein recent times. The analysis suggested in this system also helps very much to easilyunderstand the present complexities in human life. The analysis adopted in this system is,in a way, nearer to the changes occurring in modern socio-economic con ditions.

This system is easy for beginners to learn. For any astrologer it is also essential toknow the fundamentals of Vedic astrology. So the founder late Prof.Krishna Murthyhimself has quoted by way of detailed explanations from different classical books inmany chapters in his famous books called "K.P Readers".

KP system is not against any remedial measures as suggested since a long time.Founder Prof.Krishna Murthy himself was an ardent devotee (upasaka) of Lord Ganesha. He maintained himself as a model in seeking Divine blessings for a peaceful life. He hasalso suggested many remedial measures, in his writings as per the context. Needless tosay that, besides remedial measures human efforts is essential in a disciplined way. Oftenan express caution was given by the founder, throughout his writings, about the bluntnature of malefic planets in odd times, if the human efforts are ignored.

My experience: I was in the field of Astrology since 1982, on self reading. I wasinduced into this K.P. system by my Guru late P.V.K.Punneswara Rao in 1991.My Gurumostly preferred to teach the subject for more than 4 decades. He has established UniversalCollege of Astrology, at Hyderabad in the year 1992 to academically propagate thissubject. He has also trained me as a Faculty member to teach on every Sunday for aboutseven years.

I have gained a good experience in KP system in the guidance of my Guru. I have alsogained experience while I was Chairman of the Universal College of Astrology, for fewyears, subsequent to the sad demise of my guru. During my tenure as Chairman I have, also, gained lot of experience in KP system while interacting with the Faculty membersand while teaching to students at Universal College of Astrology, Hyderabad (India).

My Guruji late Shri P.V.K.P.Punneswara rao has also taught me the advancedtechniques in different systems of classical astrology and Western astrology. The crux ofhis guidance was that all students must read and imbibe the best of all system in Astrology. At the same time no astrologer is expected to be fanatic of any system(s).

[ vi ]

Need of Practical Experience in Astrology: Every individual differs in his behavioralthough his birth chart is similar to those who are born on the same date, time and place.A deep insight in decoding the charts can give a better understanding of the behavior oftwins and astro- twins.

Apart from academic knowledge one must try to put in his intellectual efforts in thepractical interpretation of every chart at every time.

WHY THIS BOOK

With my practical experience in Astrology since 1982 and in KP system from 1991 Iwanted to write this book. Main aim is to share my experience and to spread the principlesof KP system originally given by founder and what was taught to me by my Guru.

Basically the K.P.system of astrology is an offshoot of Vedic astrology blended withcertain principles of Western astrology. As this system is originated in the latest centuryit is easy to apply these astrological principles to the latest style of human life. In a waythis system is found easy for a student to get into the field of astrology. However, astudent of KP System can excel with a better understanding of the basic principles ofVedic astrology. So every astrologer must endeavor to make use of the rationale in thebasic principles of Vedic astrology. For this purpose only, the founder Prof.KrishnaMurthy has written a lot on Vedic astrology in each of his Readers on KP System. Thus,an attempt is made, in this book, to highlight the basics of Vedic astrology whereverneeded in explaining KP system.

I have also added my understandings in the subject from my own experience andfrom various articles, books etc., by eminent authors and research scholars in KP systemand also Vedic astrology.

In short, an attempt is made to mention many suggestions of different authors at oneplace for a comprehensive view. A brief list of items that I come across all these years ismentioned in Bibliography. Yet I feel there is every need to do a lot for a better presentation.Readers are, therefore, requested, hereby, to gather the essence of and further refine thepresentation.

I am highly thankful to Dr.Neelakantam, Secretary, Global Association for Continuumof Business Management (GACBM), Hyderabad, who has given me all encouragementfor the more than a decade to record my experience and to write a FOREWARD for thisbook.

Dr.Ravi Rao (www.ravirao.com) of Ahmedabad gave all moral support to my ambitionof writing this book.

I am highly thankful to all my colleagues, students and to my family members for alltheir supporting well wishes in bringing out this book.

I dedicate this book to the memory of my Guru Jyotishya Vidya Bhaskara andK.P.Sidhanta Siromani Late Shri.P.V.K.Punneswara Rao, Founder Universal College ofAstrology, Hyderabad. (www.universalcollegeofastrology.com)
