Summer is Here! - May the summer provide everyone some time to get away from the usual hectic-ness of life. Take some time to be refreshed in your relationships with those you love the most. Hope-fully many will be able to have an enjoyable and safe summer. Take some time to rest in the Lord, too. Below is a prayer from that very famous author Unknown. Let prayer be part of whatever you do and wherever you go. Masstimes.org will help you find a church to attend Mass.

Summer Prayer Creator of all, thank You for summer!

Thank You for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight. Thank You for the beauty I see all around me

and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation. Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,

and for the more casual pace of the summer season. Draw me closer to You this summer.

Teach me how I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing. Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence,

and light my path with Your Word and Counsel. As I enjoy Your creation, create in me a pure heart

and a hunger and a thirst for You. Amen.

Family Mass and Picnic - Following on last year’s very successful Family Mass and Picnic that was part of our 125th Anniversary celebration the parish will host another Family Mass and Picnic on Sunday, August 27th beginning with Mass at 12:00 Noon in Szot Park. Like last year we want this to be an event that everyone can participate in and enjoy. To accomplish that there will be no charge to attend and all of the food, beverages and games will be FREE. Likewise, the committee has planned to have plenty of activities for the youngest as well as those of us who have a few more years under our belts. We will make use of the pavilion, but there will also be a tent to provide extra coverage for what we pray will be a nice sunny day. The committee this year is being chaired by Mr. & Mrs. Piotr and Ela Soja. They have met with last year’s chairs, Helen Banas and Sonja Grinuk, and already have much lined up for this year’s event. What they do need are more volunteers to help out for an hour or two during the day. No one will have to work the whole day so that they, too, can enjoy the day. If you would like to volunteer to help make this year's event a great success again please contact Peter and Ela at (413) 329-7531 or [email protected]. You can also fill out the Volun-teer Form on page 3. There will be a reservation form in the bulletin in the coming weeks so that the Picnic Committee can order the proper amount of food. Ask the good Lord for favorable weather, but if He decides we need rain that day the Mass and Picnic will happen right here at the Basilica and school.

100th Jubilee Year of Fatima (1917-2017) - Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 438 Winsor St., Ludlow, MA will hold Special Masses at the Shrine at 7:00 p.m. on July 13 and August 13. On Thursday, July 13th all of the Chicopee Parishes in par-ticular are being asked to come and pray that evening. Fr. James McCurry, OFM Conv. will be the homilist for the Mass. I encourage all parishioners to attend and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady’s appearances at Fatima.

On September 3 the monthly Special Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. The conclusion of the six month celebration will begin on October 12 at 7:00 p.m. with Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until October 13th at 5:00 p.m. at which time the Rosary will be prayed, Blessing of Sick will take place at 5:30 p.m., a 6:00 p.m. Prelude, and 7:00 p.m. Mass followed by Candle Light Procession and Farewell, Adeus de Fatima. All are welcome to join us at any or all of our beautiful tributes as we honor Our Lady of Fatima.

Congratulations to Tech-no Fair Winners and City Champ!! - Our sev-enth graders participated in the city-wide Techno Fair sponsored by Chicopee Electric Light. All seventh graders in the city partici-pated. Each student had to formulate a hypothesis, do research, and an experiment to test their hypothesis. They produced a visual display board, as well as gave an oral presentation. School level judging was held in April and the final judging took place at Chicopee Comprehensive High School on June 13th. Four of our students reached the finals, pictured left to right: Eric Goncarz, Victor Canavan, Shreeya Patel and Anthony Czarniecki, and their teacher, Mrs. Davis, in the background. We are proud to announce that the First Place city-wide winner was Victor Canavan and Eric Garncarz received honora-ble mention. Congratulations to our students!

June 29 - Since school is out for the summer, the usual 8:45 a.m. Mass on Thursday June 29 will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m.

July & August Weekday Mass Schedule - During the months of July and August there will be two daily Masses Monday to Friday at 6:30 a.m. and Noon. The twice daily confessions continue after the 6:30 a.m. Mass and from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place from after the 6:30 a.m. Mass until the Noon Mass. This schedule allows for one friar-priest to be able to cover the entire schedule as well as a funeral, thus allowing for the other to be away for vacation, retreat, workshops, etc. The regular schedule will resume the day after Labor Day on Tuesday, Sep-tember 5th.

4th of July Holiday Schedules - Please note that the parish offices will be closed on both Monday and Tuesday, July 3 & 4, for the Independence Day Holiday. We will follow the regular summer liturgical schedule on July 3 (Masses at 6:30 & Noon). However, on the 4th there will be one Mass at 9:00 a.m in the Lower Basilica. There will be no sched-uled confessions or Adoration on July 4th.

Corpus Christi Procession - I want to thank everyone who attended the Corpus Christi procession on June 15th. I would estimate that there were around 300 who took part. Thanks to all who had a hand in setting up and decorating the four altars, including the Rosary and St. Vincent de Paul Societies, Br. Dennis from the Senior Friars Residence, and Sr. Ceil. Thanks goes out to Fr. Andrzej from Our Lady of the Cross for leading the Polish prayers and giving the Polish homily. Thanks also to all who assisted with the procession as well as the Polish choir led by Janek. The weather cooperated and it was a wonderful expression of our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Also, thanks to all who came throughout the day to spend some time in prayer and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Let us continue to pray for vocations from our parish.

Annual Gift to the Parish - Thank you to all who have sent in their Annual Gift / ”Parish Dues”. If you have not yet sent in your gift you would have received a follow up letter. As of June 19th we have received about $52,735 from 786 families. Last year's total was $69,275. In addition, we have received additional gifts beyond the $50 per adult totaling a little over $11,764. As we approach the end of the fiscal year this Friday, on June 30th, I ask all of those who have not yet made this donation to do so. Once again thanks for all that you do to support our parish!

Adios Friar Luis - Friar Luis, who as you know has been sharing time between the parish and the Friars Senior Resi-dences at St. Hyacinth’s and in Enfield, CT will be away from the parish for about 2 months. During this time he must participate in a 30 day retreat in preparation for his Solemn Vows. He will also have some time for vacation. He will be back near the end of August and will then be with us for another few months until the end of the calendar year. Please keep Friar Luis in your prayers especially during his retreat.

Final Thoughts - As I write this the Orioles have given up at least 5 runs in 16 straight games and not surprisingly are just 5 - 11 in those games. Yankees helped everyone chasing them with an extended losing streak. Have a blessed week and enjoy these days of extended daylight! - Fr. Joe

B I U L E T Y N Parafialny - 25 czerwiec 2017

12 Niedziela zwykła - rok A

Człowiek powinien całkowicie zaufać Bogu we wszystkich dziedzinach życia.

(ks. Eugeniusz Burzyk)

The convener is Ben of Mt. Carmel Parish, e-mail [email protected]. Keep updated at meetup.com.
