Chapter 1 – Introduction When to Accompany Dr. Baskerville: An Assistant should always accompany Dr. Baskerville when his sound is unmuted, unless requested otherwise. When you are in channels with Dr. Baskerville, do not speak unless spoken to. Do not ask to add your opinion or make comments. The only channel that you will never join Dr. Baskerville is the Grand Council channel. When Dr. Baskerville is in that channel, he is discussing private matters with officials from the highest branch of Villoux’s government. If he dismisses you, you may return to your previous business. Do not use your permissions to gain access to channels that are locked if Dr. Baskerville is not present in that channel. If you are found doing this, it will be considered an abuse of permissions and you will be punished accordingly. How to Speak to Dr. Baskerville: When addressing Dr. Baskerville, always greet him with a “Hello” upon initially joining the channel and ensure that he needs you in the channel with him, unless he is in meeting, in which case you remain silent. You are to refer to Dr. Baskerville as “Sir” or “Doctor Baskerville”. Do not use other nicknames such as “Basker” or other informal words such as “dude”. On Friday nights, opposed to saying “Hello” you will say “Shabbat shalom” (pronounced Sha-Bot, Sha-Loam) due to the fact that Dr. Baskerville is Jewish. In Judaism, Friday night is a time of worship. Shabbat shalom is a term meaning “Peace be with you on the Sabbath (Day of worship).” When speaking to Spazproof, you will refer to him as “Mr. Spazproof”; when speaking to DeaFikka, you will refer to him as “Mr. DeaFikka”; when speaking to Shortylyon, you will refer to her as “Ms. Shortylyon”. All other members of the Cabinet, and anyone you interact with while in office will be referred to as “Mr.” or “Ms.”, respectively.

Learning Information: Serving in the Cabinet provides you a unique opportunity to learn about how the system functions, and whereas you should certainly retain that useful information, you should not discuss it. As a Baskerville Assistant or Advisor, you will be exposed to numerous private conversations amongst system officials. You are not, at any time, allowed to repeat any information that you gain as a result of sitting in on any of Dr. Baskerville’s meetings. If you fail to follow this rule, you will not only be demoted from your position as an Assistant or Advisor, but you also risk being prosecuted with a system ban depending on the severity of the information revealed. Dr. Baskerville Joining Public Channels: If you see Dr. Baskerville in a public channel, always join the channel with him, even if there are already other Assistants with him; he needs all the Assistants he can get when in public channels. Always protect Dr. Baskerville from unwanted conversations and unwarranted questions while he is in private channels. Be polite, but let users know not to bombard Dr. Baskerville with “questions, comments, or concerns”. If users proceed to ask Dr. Baskerville questions not in regard to what he is discussing, please politely state, “Excuse me, Mr./Ms. <Username>, you will need to message Dr. Baskerville if you have any questions, comments, or concerns on matters not pertaining to this topic.” If any user directly insults Dr. Baskerville, immediately remove the user from the channel. If a riot begins, you are to move Dr. Baskerville out of the channel immediately.

From Whom to Get Help: Whereas you are a “Baskerville” Assistant, Dr. Baskerville is not your boss and will therefore not be overly involved in your actions. Assistants will report to the Baskerville Assistant Manager and the Executive Baskerville Assistant; Advisors will report to the Baskerville Advisor Manager and the Executive Baskerville Assistant. Directly, the Manager of your respective position is your boss, and the Executive Baskerville Assistant is your boss’ boss. If you have any issues with your position, need a hiatus, wish to resign, or have any other concerns, you should contact your respective Manager or Executive Assistant. From Whom to Take Orders: Whereas you are a “Baskerville” Assistant, there may be times at which you will be requested to assist other system officials. There may be times where members of the Baskerville Cabinet will be required to attend various meetings to represent Dr. Baskerville, give opinions, take notes, or participate in aiding the purpose of the meeting. In those meetings, you are to answer to whomever is hosting and running the meeting. Additionally, some Assistants and Advisors will be assigned a secondary rank in the system. Should you be one of those members, you are additionally expected to answer to your overseeing Department Chairman or Executive. Reassignments: Dr. Baskerville holds the right to request the Executive Baskerville Assistant to transfer you to another department. Should Dr. Baskerville notice a skill, talent, or ability that you possess and feel that your ability is not being properly utilized as an Assistant, he may reassign you to another department. If you are an Advisor, Dr. Baskerville will often reassign you the serve as an interim Manager, Server Head, or Grand Council Member.

In addition to assisting the Chief of Staff in studying, the Advisor of Academia may be requested to aid the Chief of Staff in non-educational related school activities, for example student organizations. Advisor of Villoux History and Law: Throughout the system’s five years in existence, countless momentous events have occurred, and an abundance of rules and regulations have been established to maintain order. It is the duty of the Baskerville Advisor over Villoux History and Law to be familiar with not only the many events throughout the system’s history, but also with the laws that formed per result of them. The Advisor of Villoux History and Law provides guidance to both the Chief of Staff and the Grand Council when they attempt to alter or instate new legislation.
