Basketball

Round Robin
• There are four teams• Each team plays all other teams, regardless of the
results• Everyone plays the same number of games• The winner is the team with the most wins or
points after all rounds are complete• 2 points are awarded for winning the match• 1 point is awarded for a draw• No points are given for a loss
Schedule
1. Have group settle down (Air horn will be used if necessary)
2. Have class line up in assigned groups3. Run through rules and locations of services/scores4. Send teams off to labelled courts5. Once 5 minutes is up, have teams switch to the next
game6. Repeat7. Save 10 minutes at the end to congratulate teams
and announce winners of event
Ideal World

Reality• 1 Court
– Separated into 2 half courts– Outdoor courts are damaged
• Rendered unusable for basketball

• Unstable/Unpredictable weather
• Same uniform for everyone
Ideal World
To achieve closest to an ideal competition:• Make the two half courts visibly separate• Using high contrast colours on the score board– Achieve maximum visibility
• Using different coloured bibs/tags for different teams

• Organised into 6 skill levels– So all teams will have the same average skill level
• To pick teams:– Organisers of event taken out of list– One from each skill level chosen– Friendship groups also taken into account • Ensures proper coordination and communication within
team

Set-up
• Games will be played on half courts• Each half court will be labelled:

• Each match will last for 5 minutes, unless a team scores up to 4 points
• Match information will be written on the whiteboards

Rules
• No double dribbling• No travelling• No excessively rough play
• Punching and kicking• Tackling
• No dribbling outside the court• Each time you gain possession of the ball you must reset
it• Points:– 1 point for each hoop inside the 3-point line– 2 points for each hoop outside the 3-point line
