REGIONAL SOFTBALL Last Friday 3rd November the grade 5/6 boys and grade 5/6 girls softball teams travelled to the Traralgon Recreation Reserve to the Regional Softball Carnival. The boys and girls teams both qualified after winning the district com-petitions the week prior. On the day both teams performed admirably against the well drilled opposition. The Bass Valley P.S pitchers – Harley Filliponi and Chloe Culhane & catchers Tyson Masinovic and Lateisha Kelley produced excel-lent performances. In the end both teams progressed to the final- with our grade 5/6 boys team finishing first and our 5/6 girls runners-up. An outstanding achievement. As a result the boys have qualified for the State Championships on Wednesday 23rd November at the Waverley Softball Centre, Jells Road and Waverley Road, Wheelers Hill. On Friday 4th November the grade 5/6 students had the opportunity to compete in the T-20 cricket competition held at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve. Bass Valley entered 6 teams on the day and each of the teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and skill development as the day progressed. Big thank you to Kylie L, Kelly P, Jacki Collis and Lincoln Brock.

Grade 3/4 Urban Camp The grade 3/4 urban camp was a great success hitting off with an early start on the Wednes-day morning. We left the school just after 7:30am and made it into Federation Square for a workshop on fractured fairy tales at 10:00am. This was a great learning experience, particularly with our understanding of fictional text and traditional fairy tales. We then had a tour of the moving image museum at Federation Square where we were able to see and experience everything from Australian cinema props to virtual reality. Off to the Yarra River for a cruise and lunch. We were given a historical run through of this area of Melbourne. This was a chance for a sit down, listen and learn. Off to camp, eat tea and SLEEP…. Teachers said SLEEP! Next day was crazy. Off to the zoo and spend all day seeing amazing animals, listening to the zoo keepers teach us about these wonderful creatures and then shopping. We all hope parents enjoyed the toys from the zoo. Tea, then on to the tram for a night at Bounce, one of the happiest places on earth. About 100 trampolines all over the place and students bouncing everywhere. Back to camp and sleep……….. zzzzzzzzzz Last day zzzzzzzzzz…. Sorry, start again. Last day off to the Art Centre for a workshop in music making. Great tunes and fun for all the kids. Next was a tour of the exceptional graffiti that lines some of the streets in Melbourne. Lunch, bus, home, sleep. Big thanks to Ms Mayling for her
organisation, Ms Hodgson, Mr
Horsburgh, Mr Baker, Karina
Goewie, Mrs Rutherford and
Kylie Lansdown for their work.
A big clap to all the students
who behaved wonderfully and
used good manners and
showed the city how well a
country school behaves.
