Mal and Chrissy listened and after well over a year of looking at designs, and

sourcing partners who fit the Aquatica ethos, they took the plunge and bought the

4500 sq metre property next to the existing purpose-built plant in Avondale.

This has facilitated the expansion that sees an already trusted New Zealand brand

become even bigger and better.

On a Low Pressure system, fitting an aerator could cause

cold water to back-feed into your hot water line.

It isn’t hard to save water and it can save you money in the long run. Check out the

following suggestions, all of which are possible without any great changes to

your family’s washing habits.

Saving water is not necessarily about running the tap for a shorter amount of time or having a quicker

shower. Families generally run a tap for the same length of time not realising it could be running as high as 15 litres of water per minute. So lowering

the flow is the quickest and easiest solution to water saving.

In the bathroom, an easy option for saving water in a mains pressure system* is to fit our German-made

pressure compensating aerator. This can be quickly and easily placed into the aerator housing of your existing

bathroom tap and will change the flow of your tap to a soft spray of 3 litres per minute. So if it takes 30 seconds to wash your

hands, you could start saving more than 8 litres of water every hand wash. If there are 10 hand washes in your family per day,

that’s a saving of up to 31,000 litres per year (plus of course the savings in electricity as well).

Around 80% of a home’s hot water is used in the shower. If you have good mains pressure, your mixed flow could be up to 20 litres

per minute, so a 10 minute shower could use around 200 litres of water. By reducing the flow to 10 litres per minute, you could halve

your water usage while still getting a good long shower. A family of four, still showering 10 minutes each a day, could save 400 litres of water a day (or around

$600 a year) plus the cost of heating the water which could be another $600 a year. So by simply installing an Aquatica 10-litre per minute pressure compensating washer

into a handshower hose, substantial savings can be made.

We don’t recommend reducing the water flow in the kitchen or over the bath as this doesn’t usually save water. You’ll want to fill the jug or the bath until almost full - and the quicker, the better!

So lowering the flow of water is the quickest solution for saving water and, as we’ve already said, your family won’t need to change their washing habits to do it. If you can adopt other practices, such as turning off the tap

while brushing your teeth, you’ll save even more!

Under the WELS regulations, you will notice tapware and handshowers

have star ratings. These ratings will help the consumer to make buying decisions on new

products based on their water saving features. The more stars, the more water is saved.

What water pressure system do you have?The two most common systems are:

Unequal Pressure:This is the most common system in New Zealand. A header tank or pressure reducing valve is usually used to supply low pressure water to the hot water cylinder.

How to recognise this system• The cold water flow is much greater than the hot.• There’s a header tank in the loft or a pressure reducing valve just before cold water enters the hot water cylinder.• Hot water cylinders are marked 3.7m head or 7.6m head.• Vent pipe through the roof.

Equal Mains Pressure:This system uses a special hot water cylinder which is fitted with a pressure limiting valve for safety.

How to recognise this system• The hot and cold water flow is strong and equal.• The hot water cylinder is described as a mains pressure cylinder.• Almost all gas hot water systems are mains pressure.

PREssURE Balancing caRTRidgEThis clever cartridge maintains the water at a constant temperature even when there are changes in flow. If someone elsewhere in the house turns on a hot tap, the piston inside the cartridge moves across to balance the flow between hot and cold. The Maximo is a floor standing vanity with large double drawers for added storage. It has white surfaces reflecting light and creating a spacious, modern look that can compliment any decor.

Optional tops for Maximo and MinimaThe polymarble top is now included in the price and is always as pictured for the 405mm versions.

For the other 3 sizes (750, 900 and 1200), the top comes standard as a 27mm thick polymarble top, but can optionally be swapped out for a 60mm thick polymarble top, a 16mm vitreous china top or a 43mm polymarble slab on which a bowl can rest. (Our KA BOWL SQ is also polymarble and is an exact match to the polymarble slab.) To change the top option at the time of ordering, just order one of the following vanity codes, ie: VN MINIMA 900 WH and then add one of the Option codes listed on the right on page 81, such as OPTION TOP 900 60MM. If you do not order an option, then the vanity comes standard with a 27mm polymarble top.

KatrinaThe Katrina can solve the usual problem with vanities with drawers. Normally you can’t mount them into a corner because the drawers can catch on the wall. The side shelf solves that problem. Cabinet depths are 450mm, Tops are 10mm deeper. Vanity Tops are 10mm wider than the cabinet (except the A option in 1500, which is 20mm wider). Katrina vanities are intended for wall mounting. All vanities are single bowl except the A option in 1500. Available in Matt Black (BLK), White Gloss (WH) or Grey-washed Woodgrain (GR)

Only high quality workmanship and materials have been used in the manufacture of Aquatica’s bathroomware and kitchenware.

If any workmanship or material is proven faulty during the warranty period, Aquatica NZ limited will, at its own cost or option, repair or replace the faulty product.

The warranty is transferable but the original proof of purchase from an authorised Aquatica distributor is required for all claims.

Aquatica’s liability will not extend to damage caused by reasonably foreseeable loss such as inappropriate materials in a wet area, ie floating wooden floors, or mounting a bath filler through a wooden floor. The requirement to drill a hole to fit a tap directly into a laminate benchtop, which by this very action causes the bench to become a non-impermeable surface and can cause swelling, would also be considered reasonably foreseeable loss.

Every effort has been made to show the products as they will be sold, however all models and specifications are subject to change without notice. Aquatica cannot accept responsibility if the incorrect product is fitted. measurements and products should always be checked prior to installation.

waterlines to tapware incorporating a ceramic cartridge or ceramic disc mechanism should have an inline strainer or filter fitted. Absence of these may void the warranty.

Any suspected defect must be notified to Aquatica as soon as possible after discovery. All repair work must be performed by a plumber who has received authorisation from Aquatica prior to proceeding with the work. Aquatica may immediately authorise repair work to be undertaken, however, this is not necessarily acceptance of liability.

Aquatica guarantees that the tapware will be able to handle temperatures up to a maximum of 80°C.

Water pressure up to 1000kPa is the maximum limit for the tapware. Above this the warranty will become void.

Serial numbers or tags should not be removed from the products as they are essential in establishing warranty.
