B attle Creek is a leading destination for regional and national amateur sporting events.
The Battle Creek area has hosted significant amateur sporting events including 6 different Michigan High School
Athletic Association Final Championship events, 100 days of baseball/softball championship tournaments, six baseball
World Series, and dozens of amateur events annually including NCAA, AABC, ASA, GameDay USA, MHSAA and USSSA
events.
Event organizers will find the Battle Creek area to have world-class facilities all
located within close proximity to the area’s hotels, restaurants, and entertainment.
In addition to world-class facilities, Sports Promotion provides excellent service to
event planners.
Relationships have been established city-wide to provide event planners with a
trouble free experience, from the planning stages to the final day of the event.
The Battle Creek area isn’t just great for event planners, it’s loads of fun for
event participants and their families. When attendees are not participating in
events they can visit some of the great attractions in the area. Attractions include
Full Blast, an indoor/outdoor water park and family entertainment center; Binder
Park Zoo, a great outdoor experience where guests can get nose-to-nose with
one of the largest giraffe herds in the country. This is just a taste of what the

Sports Promotion was formed in 1990 to enhance the economic vitality of Battle Creek/Calhoun County through
recruitment, creation, and management of amateur sports/athletic events.

SPORTING EVENT SERVICES
The friendly and knowledgeable staff at the Battle Creek/Calhoun County Convention and Visitors
Bureau is available for advice and assistance throughout the planning of a sporting event. Bureau
representatives are available to meet with event planners personally to ensure a successful event.
Some of the services available through the bureau are outlined below.

In partnership with PSE Tournament Housing, the Battle Creek/Calhoun County Convention & Visitors
Bureau offers event organizers a complimentary, all-in-one housing service readily available to handle
the housing needs of your event. Offering the latest in tournament housing services, PSE will handle
all of the housing details before, during and after your event. Including:

LocationKellogg Arena is located in the heart of downtown Battle Creek, 4.5 miles north of I-94, and is attached
to the McCamly Square complex which includes McCamly Plaza Hotel (239 rooms, three diamond
hotel), McCamly Place (a 50,000 square foot retail area with unique shops and eateries),
McCamly Square Parking Ramp, and a beautiful outdoor park.
ParkingIn addition to the 763-car ramp, there are over 1,500 spaces available in a two block area.
Arena DimensionsThe Kellogg Arena consists of 30,000 square feet which can be used as one open area or can be
divided via an operative curtain into two areas -- the arena side consisting of 22,000 square feet
(100’ x 220’) and the exhibition hall side consisting of 8,360 square feet (38’ x 220’).
Arena Seating CapacityApproximate seating for reserved ticket concerts is 6,200. A theatrical curtaining system is available,
and can reduce the size of the arena down to as few as 1,500 seats in a very intimate setting with no
sight line problems. The curtaining system can be hung at almost any depth to accommodate capacities
from 1,500 to 4,500. The Kellogg Arena can accommodate banquets from 50 to 2,000.
EquipmentThe Kellogg Arena has a full compliment of sporting event equipment. Included in this are tables,
chairs, pipe & drape, sound equipment, basketball floor, and theatrical drapery. In addition, the Arena
has volleyball and wrestling equipment, mats, and scoreboards. For more information and a complete

Boasting more than 80 acres, this multi-use park features three full-sized baseball stadiums,
including the 6,000 seat C.O. Brown Stadium; two quadra-plex softball diamonds, four sand
volleyball courts; a playground and 12 shuffleboard courts.
Over the years, Bailey Park has evolved into a facility with a reputation for hosting some of the finest
baseball and softball tournaments in the country.

Fort Custer Recreation Area is a 3,033 acre, popular year-round destination for mountain bike users,
equestrians, cross-country skiers, disc golfers, hikers and dog mushers. Fort Custer plays host to two
annual Michigan Mountain Bike Association races, an annual XTERRA Off-road triathlon, an annual dog
sled race and most recently host to the 2008 PDGA Disc Golf World Championships. The area features
three lakes (no wake enforced), the Kalamazoo River and an excellent trail system. There are 4 differ-
ent trail loops, each approximately 8 miles long, with varying degrees of difficulty. A map and trail
descriptions can be found at www.friendsoffortcuster.org. The 18 hole disc golf course utilizes a
variety of terrain including mowed grass, long grass, wood lines and forest with both closed canopies
and open ceilings. In addition, there is ample parking and room for staging areas.

Full Blast, the Internationally Award Winning Family Entertainment Center has over 150,000 square
feet of year around fun for the entire family. The Sports Forum at Full Blast offers many options
for event planners. The Sports Forum is 100’ x 186’ or 18,600 square feet in size consisting of three
regulation sized basketball/volleyball courts and a spectator seating area for approximately 400.
Full Blast has hosted such events as floor hockey, basketball, volleyball, archery tournaments, dance
and gymnastics competitions. Bleachers are located around the Sports Forum for maximum spectator
participation.
In addition, Full Blast boasts both an
indoor and outdoor water park open
Memorial Day through Labor Day. The
indoor water park has two 100 foot water
slides and the outdoor has two 200 foot
waterslides.

Marshall Activity Center is a Recreation/Banquet Center located at the NW corner of I69 and Michigan
Ave (Exit 36), just west of Marshall. We have two full size basketball courts and a racquetball court.
We run leagues and weekly pick-up games. We also host wedding receptions and banquets (up to 550),
parties, auctions, meetings and more.

Multi-Sports Center DimensionsThe Battle Creek Family Y Multi-Sports Center consists of 42,550 square feet of activity floor space.
The area can be used as an open space or divided into separate courts which measure 46’ x 78’.
Sporting CapabilitiesThe Battle Creek Family YMCA Multi Sports Center has 7 athletic courts. All 7 courts can be either
volleyball or tennis and 4 of the courts have permanent basketball standards. The MSC also comes
equipped with an electronic baseball/softball batting cage with pitching machine, indoor soccer goals,
and a sport wall (contact us for more information regarding the sport wall).
SeatingPortable bleacher seating is available for approximately 400.

The Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center is a full-service, state-of-the-art riding facility built on 340 acres of undulating
land at the south end of the Albion College campus. Albion is the only private college in Michigan with an on-campus
equestrian center.
The College offers its students onsite boarding, training and
lessons, rated competition opportunities in dressage, hunt seat,
eventing and western, intercollegiate competition opportunities
through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and
Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA), and training toward
international equestrian certification through the British Horse
Society.
In addition, the Held Equestrian Center hosts various equestrian
competitions during the year, a yearly summer camp for young women, and annual symposia with highly regarded
professional horsemen and women. The Held Equestrian Center riding program educates students from beginner to
advanced levels in hunt seat, dressage, show jumping, eventing, and western disciplines.
