-I will assign you your battle

-Who will assign your groups?

-It is important that you do well, because you will be presenting the information to the class. This will be the only way they get specific information on the battles.

-You have 2/3 class periods to finish this.

-Presentation will be 6-10 slides depending on amount of info you have and how you present it.

-Be creative and have fun. These are great stories.

General Robert E. Lee led the Confederates along with Longstreet

and Pickett. General George G. Meade led the Union.

Generals

Day one of the battle of Gettysburg consisted of the armies coming

together. The Confederates outnumbered the Union.

Day One

On day two of the battle, General Lee attacked, both sides were at full force.

The Union lines held.

Day Two

On day three, Lee sent General Pickett on a direct charge against the heart of the Union. This famous attack was called the Pickett

Attack. Over half of the men were killed or injured.

Day Three

The confederates were defeated during the Pickett Charge, causing them to

retreat and the Union to win the battle of Gettysburg.

Outcome

The Union lost 94,000 soldiers, the Confederates followed by

losing only 72,000.

Aftermath

The battle of Antietam gave Lincoln the “victory he needed to go further with the Emancipation Proclamation. It was the single bloodiest day in the history of the United States as of now.
