THE CALL TO WORSHIP Based on Romans 11:33-36)
[ Pastor / CONGREGATION ]
Psalm 27:1,4,5
The Lord is my light and my salvation!
WHOM SHALL I FEAR?
The Lord is the strength of my life!
OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID?
One thing I ask of the Lord;
THIS IS WHAT I SEEK:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE;
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord,
AND TO SEEK HIM IN HIS TEMPLE.
For in the day of trouble
He will keep me safe in His dwelling.
HE WILL HIDE ME
IN THE SHELTER
OF HIS TABERNACLE
HE WILL SET ME HIGH
UPON THE SOLID ROCK.
**THE OPENING HYMN
#526
(1)
My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
(2)
When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
(3)
His oath, His covenant, His blood
support me in the whelming flood;
when all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
(4)
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in Him be found,
dressed in His righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
SILENT PRAYERS OF
THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION
Psalm 51:1,7
Have mercy on me, O God, according to
Your unfailing love; In Your great
compassion, blot out my transgressions;
Remove my sin, and I will be clean; Wash
me and I will be whiter than snow.

‘Tis So Sweet
To Trust In Jesus’
(1)
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
(2)
Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
(3)
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
(4)
I’m so glad I learned to trust You,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that You are with me,
Will be with me to the end.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE
Luke 10:25-37
FIVE LESSONS IN COMPASSION
An expert in the law stood up to test Jesus.
“Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit
eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?”
Jesus replied. “How do you understand this
Scripture?” The expert in the Law answered,
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength and
with all your mind; AND, Love your neighbor as
yourself.” “You have answered correctly,”
Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
But the expert in the Law, wanting to justify
himself, asked Jesus, “And who is my
neighbor?”
In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down
from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was
attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his
clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him
half dead. A priest happened to be going down
the same road, and when he saw the man, he
passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite,
when he came to that place and saw injured
man, passed by on the other side.
And when the Samaritan saw man, he took pity
on him. He went to him and bandaged his
wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put
the man on his own donkey, brought him to an
inn and took care of him.
The next day he took out two denarii and gave
the money to the innkeeper with these
instructions: ‘Look after him, and when I return, I
will reimburse you for any extra expense you
may have.’
Then Jesus said to the expert in the Law,
“Which of these three do you think was a
neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of
robbers?”
The expert in the law replied, “The one who had
mercy on him.” So Jesus told him, “Go and do
likewise.”

‘HIS NAME IS
WONDERFUL’
His NAME is Wonderful,
His NAME is Wonderful,
His NAME is Wonderful,
Jesus my Lord;
He is the mighty King,
master of everything,
His NAME is Wonderful,
Jesus, my Lord.
He's the great Shepherd,
the Rock of all ages,
Almighty God is He;
Bow down before Him,
love and adore Him,
His NAME is Wonderful,
Jesus, my Lord.
He's the great Shepherd,
the Rock of all ages,
Almighty God is He;
Bow down before Him,
love and adore Him,
His NAME is Wonderful,
Jesus, my Lord.

THE CLOSING HYMN
#670
Make Me A Blessing
Out in the highways and byways of life,
many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife
making the sorrowing glad.
Make me a blessing,
Make me a blessing,
Out of my life
May Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love;
Tell of His pow'r to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove
true ev'ry moment you live.
Make me a blessing,
Make me a blessing,
Out of my life
May Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
Give as was given to you in your need;
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed;
Unto your mission be true.
Make me a blessing,
Make me a blessing,
Out of my life
May Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
