Section A: Plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year toward
quality enhancement
BBK DAV College for Women, a multi faculty institution, which aims to blend professional
and vocational education with traditional courses, is an excellent model of what a women’s
college can do for a woman’s development. The thrust of the college is the highly innovative
and efficient management of all its resources-human and infrastructure. Every year begins
with a series of meetings to review the progress of various departments, clubs and
associations of the college. The strengths and weaknesses are analyzed impartially and new
targets set and policies and programmes formed to achieve them.
In all these, the Holistic development of the students is the focus.
At the onset of the session 2008-09, the IQAC held its annual meetings with all the
departments of the college, Youth Welfare club, Sports department, Scholar’s club, Alumni
Association Student Council, Accounts Branch, Library Committee, Hostel Committee,
Discipline Committee and Admission Committee, to chalk out a blue print for the whole year.
Formulate courses according to the demands of the job-market.
Empowerment of women through various means; holding seminars, awareness
programmes, skill building through workshops, exhibitions.
To meet the expectations of parents and society from the college.
Introduction of new subjects and streams to enhance the employability of the students.
Installation of new infrastructure, teaching aids, new courses and programmes.
Welfare scheme for staff and students including aid, incentives, scholarships and
concessions.
Proposal for workshops and seminars, conferences and exhibitions
Research Projects.
Strategies for further advancement in sports, academic &cultural activities.
International linkages.
Generating funds.
Devise special programmes to inculcate social responsibility, sensitivity and social
responsiveness in students.
Plan programmes to inculcate civic sense.
Plans for promotion of culture and heritage of India.
Section B:
1. Activities Reflecting the Goals and Objectives of the Institution
BBK DAV College for Women combines a commitment to teaching excellence with
extensive sports and cultural opportunities. The academic thrust is on imparting knowledge
of the subjects concerned and to develop critical abilities to enable the students to relate and
use knowledge in real life situations. The co-academic and cultural activities are focused
around inculcating a strong sense of commitment to nationalist, social and aesthetic values.

The college is constantly engaged in promotion and revival of Indian tradition, culture,
heritage and spiritual philosophy through co-curricular/ cultural activities, theatrical
presentations, learned discourses and awareness-raising programmes.
The college envisions the creation of excellent human resource through integration of
multidimensional personality development programmes with the college curriculum, in order
to produce world class professionals. Some of the important activities undertaken during the
session are listed below.
a) Talent hunt programme
It is an important feature of the college that aims at exploring the latent talent of the
freshers to further polish it to perfection. This year , the college organized a three
week long, Talent Hunt Programme, under the aegis of Principal Dr. Neelam Kamra
and Dean, Youth Welfare Department Mrs. Ritu Sharma. It included an array of
competitions in Fine Arts, Home Science, Poem Recitation, Declamation and Quiz
etc.
The Talent Hunt opened with the competitions in handicraft, flower arrangement,
rangoli, organized by the Dept. of Home Science on July 31, 2008, followed by
competitions in still life, landscape, card-making, glass painting, pot-making & fabric
painting organized by Dept. of Fine Arts. The department of Commercial Art
organized competitions in Poster-making, College-making & Cartooning and the
Youth Welfare Department held competitions in debate, poetical symposium,
elocution and quiz.
b) Activities aimed to carry forward the cultural legacy
The college makes earnest efforts to inculcate in the young minds/Indian,
traditional Vedic values and ethics. Some of the activities undertaken during
2008-2009 are as follows:
The prayer and the chanting of the National Anthem is a regular feature of the
college. The relevance of important days and events is reaffirmed like Youth day,
Women’s day, Rishi Bodh day, Balmiki day, Sant Ravi Dass Day etc. In the past,
the explanation of key Upnishads has also been undertaken. Sharing the thought
of the day with the students was a regular feature of morning assembly.
The members of Arya Yuvti Sabha conducted Havan daily and on special
occasions as well in the college to promote Vedic values among the youth.
The college offers Dharam Shikha course. The teachers incharge of Arya Yuvti
Sabha prepare students for the Dharam Shiksha examination conducted by DAV.

c) Activities aimed at academic enrichment.
The college organized Art conclave on reinventing and reorienting Art
Curriculum, Sept 05-06, 2008, in collaboration with Punjab ‘Art Council at Kala
Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The venue was chosen as it happens to be at a
junction of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Delhi. The key note address of this
Artconclave, delivered by B.N. Goswami, World Renowned art historian, focused
on intrinsic nature of art and culture and the related need for reforms. The learned

Art Guru exhorted the fraternity of Art educators to assume a shared sense of
ownership in the meaningful change leading to unification & uniformity.
The college organized a Two-Day UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Women
And Media” on September 23-24, 2008.
2. New academic program initiated (UG and PG)
In the Year 2008-2010 the college introduced the following new programme i.e.B.Sc.
Biotechnology (Three year).
3. Innovation in Curriculum design and transaction
Many teachers of the college contribute towards curriculum design as members of
various boards of studies/ faculties of GNDU.
4. Interdisciplinary programmes started
No interdisciplinary programme was started during the session 2008-09.
5. Examination Reforms implemented
The major examination reforms implemented during the year were as follows.
The students of some departments proposed the tentative date sheet for internal
house examinations to be held during the year which was later finalized by the
controller of examination. This participative approach led to minimal resistance to
the final date sheet.
In order to bring about uniformity in evaluation system, test installment system
was initiated whereby the HOD reevaluated a sample of answer scripts marked by
the temporary/adhoc faculty.
The guidance and counseling cell of the college conducted interactive sessions
with students to help them de-stress themselves and go through exams without
fear and anxiety.
In order to increase the number of teaching days, exams were conducted in a short
period of 18 days.

7. Initiative towards faculty development programme
The college has created a teacher-friendly atmosphere and provides financial as well as
infrastructural support, for the academic growth of the faculty. As a result, many of the
faculty members undertake research projects, major or minor and participate in National

and International Conferences and Workshops every year. The session 2008-09 too
witnessed the stupendous strides taken by the faculty in the field of academics.

She is supervising doctoral research being conducted by Sudamini of Kamla
Nehru College, Phagwara on 'Sculptures of Dholwara'.
Dr. Jeewan Sodhi, Department of Fine Arts, is supervising the research being
conducted by Anupama Thakur for her PhD degree. She is registered in
GNDU, Amritsar and conducting research on the topic “Critical Analysis of
Kota Paintings”.

The department of Home Science organized a seminar-cum-workshop on Sep.6,
2008 to celebrate Nutrition Day.
Textile Design department organized a workshop on Macrame Weaving in the
department in Oct.2008. The workshop was conducted by the college librarian Ms.
Ravi Lochan.
A workshop was held in the department of Design on Art & Craft, by Pidilite
Company Chandigarh, in Oct.2008.
Dept. of Textile Design organized a workshop on Textile Designing, Tie & Dye,
Stencil, Block-Printing & Screen Printing.
The Dept. of Design conducted a workshop on Textile Designing, for the Post
Graduate students of the Dept. of Fine Arts. It also held a three day workshop on
Screen Printing for the students of Bachelor in Multimedia from Dec.2- 4, 2008.
Mural workshop was held in the Dept. of Fine Arts under the guidance of Dr. Neeta
Mohindra, Head, Dept of Fine Arts.
A three days workshop on Coffee Arts, was held by the Home Science Department.
A workshop on Textile Techniques in Stencil, Printing using foil, velvet and
marbelling was conducted by Department of Home Science on Feb.20-21, 2009.

15. Honors and Award to Faculty : National and International
Mr. Lalit Gopal Parashar, Department of Design, was selected as one of the 10 artists
for National Level Artist’s camp, held at Kushi Nagar, Gorakhpur and got first prize
and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
His painting was selected for National Exhibition organised by Lalit Kala Academy,
New Delhi.
He also participated in National Level Exhibition, organised by All India Fine Arts
and Crafts Society, New Delhi.

Mrs. Poonam Khullar department of chemistry got a grant of Rupees 7.5 lakhs for her
major research project entitled “Physicochemical properties of Block-Co-Polymers and
evaluations of their capping behavior in Nanoparticle synthesis” from UGC, New Delhi.
18. Community Services
The community service centre of the college, under the guidance of teachers from
Political Science &Sociology provides all kind of help, including legal, to dowry
victims, rape-victims and handles cases of marital disputes. The college participates
in various community services programmes, organized by Arya Samaj and DAV
Institutions.
The college participated with all its resources, human and material, in the mega event
“Vedic Viraat Arya Sammelan’ at Amritsar on Nov. 30,2008.
The Principal Mrs. Neelam Kamra, the members of the teaching and non-teaching
staff, and the students of the college, participated enthusiastically in the organization
of the Mass Marriage of girls of under-privileged section of society on the auspicious
of Sammelan and made a huge contribution towards the distribution of blankets,
sewing machines, tricycles to the needy and the destitute.
The members of Arya Yuvti Sabha conducted daily havan and on special occasions
as well, in the college.
NSS Unit of the college enrolled 200 volunteers in the year 2008-09 &
participated in various social welfare programmes. Volunteers’ participation in
Arya Virat Sammelan to awaken the citizens of Amritsar to the social evils of female
foeticide, dowry system, crime against women, drug addiction etc., spoke of their
zeal for service and commitment to the social cause. Their involvement in various
community service projects, like their help and assistance to inmates of old age
home 'Milvartan' & students of DAV Red Cross School for Special Children is
commendable.
A free medical check-up camp was organized at Faizpura, where a panel of doctors
examined 400 patients and medicines were distributed to the poor patients.
To inculcate a sense of duty among the youth towards the underprivileged strata
of society, a ten-day camp was organized by the NSS unit of the college, from
Oct.6-15, 2008. In this camp about 100 NSS volunteers, teachers and

programme officers actively participated. During the camp, the volunteers were
imparted training in selfless service through various lectures and projects.
The volunteers visited Nishkam Seva School, the school for the destitute and had
interactive sessions with the students of the school and educated them on
hygienic living. They distributed books and notebooks to them.
A workshop of tie and dye and block printing was organized for the women of the
area. They were given training in the art, so that they could financially support their
families, by using it. The women were also given tips for cleanliness and
awareness about social evils like female foeticide, drug addiction and dowry.
The volunteers visited DAV Red Cross School for the Special Children, Amritsar.
During the visit, they held a workshop in Handicrafts-Making and Dr. Simardeep,
Dept. of Psychology, had counseling sessions with the teachers and the students of
the school, to develop in them positive thinking, and boost their spirit to live a
motivated and dynamic living.
Volunteers also planted trees on the college campus, during the camp and were
made aware of the environmental problems, through lectures.
They also visited Old Age Home 'Milwartan' during the camp.
Their interaction with the inmates of the Old Age Home developed in them a
deeper understanding of the problems of old age and a sympathetic attitude towards
the less-attended senior citizens.
A series of lectures was organized for the volunteers to enlighten them on social
issues. The speakers included Principal Dr. Neelam Kamra, Mr. Prem Chand Bhalla,

college from Aug.11-12, 2008. It was inaugurated by Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam

A free Skin Care & Medical Checkup Camp was organized by NSS Unit of the
college in collaboration with Micro Gratia Company, on Sep.17, 2008. Dr. Nidhi
Sharma, Dermatologist, checked up more than five hundred students and
members of the staff.
The NSS volunteers and members of Red Cross Unit of the college and the members of
the staff participated in full spirit in a walk, organized by ROKO Cancer Society in the
city, to spread awareness among people about the early detection of cancer and its
treatment, on Jan.30, 2009. Free medical check-up and mammography were done in the
college. About 50 patients benefitted from the camp.

results, issue of certificates.
The design and printing of certificates for the achievement of students in their
respective fields is done on computers in the college itself.

B.Sc(IT) are prepared using computer.

28. Technology upgradation
The college makes utmost efforts to provide latest equipment and digital technology
relating to requirements of various departments. The technology up gradation needs of
various departments, like Life Sciences, Fine Arts, Commercial Arts, Mass
Communication, Home Science, Commerce, Still Photography, Multimedia, Bachelor of
Design and others have been met from time to time.
Physics department purchased instruments like GM Counter, Hall Affect
Apparatus, Four Proble Apparatus. The electronic Lab of Physics Department was
equipped with various new equipment such as CRO’s, FET’s and function
generators so that the power supply of labs was stabilized with the help of servo
stabilize to prevent any harm to equipments.
Trinocular Microscope, Image projection, Laminar Air flow, Autoclave and SLR
Camera were purchased by Botany Department.

29. Computer and Internet Access and Training to teachers, non-teaching staff and
students
Technology resources provide opportunities to use different methods of learning
through powerful visuals and well organized virtual experience and through tasks
requiring analysis, synthesis and evaluation with applications to real life situation.
Following this principle, the college has created its own ‘Virtual Library’. In this
concept, books of various subjects are available online on the campus internet. This
has saved lot of searching time and the process of searching itself has become easy.
A 24 hours BSNL Broadband Internet Connectivity up to 2Mbps enables the students
as well as staff members to search and consult the internet for problems related to
their respective subjects.
The department of computer science conducts workshops from time to time in which
staff members are given indepth knowledge, skills and understanding of concepts
related to technology. The curriculum plans are designed in such a way that
technology could be used to maximize a student’s learning. Teachers make use of e-
groups to distribute assignments to students and they can complete it and email it to
the teacher. The department of Computer Science also arranges the workshops
related to particular subjects wherein the CBTs (Computer Based Tutorials) are
shown to students for better understanding of the subject. Teachers also work hard to
enhance their own productivity by attending various conferences and seminars
related to their field.

The college makes all efforts to help the disadvantaged students, with concessions and
boosts the performance of gifted students with scholarships and freeships. The college

Distinguished alumni who have made a mark in the academic field are invited from
time to timeto guide the students. Dr. Vinay, Reader, Dept. of Law, GNDU, our
distinguished alumnus enlightened the students about legal rights of women. Many
members of the alumni who made their mark in field of sports to name a few, Ms.
Harpal Sandhu-Cricketer & Coach, Ms. Suman Sharma-Basketball Star, Ms. Bharti -
Shooter & Archer and now a renowned TV artist, Ms. Manjeet-an international
weightlifter, were invited to guide the budding sport persons and artistes of the
college. Efforts are being made to persuade the entrepreneur members of the alumni
association to visit the campus to employ the young students in their establishments.
Significant gains have been made in this direction.
Ms. Bharti Singh was honoured with Gold Medal &a certificate by Padamshree
Sh. G.P. Chopra, President, DAVCMC, New Delhi, on Jan 4, 2009, for her
brilliant achievements in entertainment. There, she impressed the DAV dignitaries
with her sharp wit &humour.
32. Activities and support from Parent Teacher Association
A parent teacher association is in place. The parents of meritorious students, sports
students and alumni are encouraged to come forward with their suggestions about
teaching learning programmes, infrastructural improvements and new facilities for
better performance. The parents are informed about their ward’s activities from time
to time.
In the month of January , 2010, a Parent Teacher meeting was conducted in the
college at 3 PM with senior teachers as conveners for various classes and where the
students fell short of required lectures in different subjects, suitable measures were
taken accordingly.
College sends regular report of attendance of the students.
Result card of the student’s performance in house examination is dispatched to the
parents.
In case a student is found violating the code of conduct in the college, her parents are
called to the college and suitable remedy or assurance from them is invited for the
better conduct of discipline in the college.
33. Health Services
The college is well-equipped to tackle any medical or health problems of the students
round the clock. A medical room with a full- time nurse/health assistant with basic
medicine and first aid services is functional during the college hours.A highly qualified
and experienced doctor is available on call who also visits the college hostel on specified
days. The college has tied up with Nayyar Hospital, in the close vicinity of the campus.
34. Performance in sports activities
Trained on a rigorous regimen and supported by excellent infrastructure, coaching
facilities, fee concessions and the like, the college sportswomen remain in the limelight,
throughout the year. The college can legitimately boast of having well-groomed teams
of all the 35 games offered by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

ACHIEVEMENTS AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL
Ms. Manveer Kaur was selected as a member of the Indian Compound Archery
Team for the First Asian Compound Tournament held at Yangon (Myanmar) in
Dec. 2008. Her team won Silver Medal in the tournament and she individually
won two Bronze Medals in Allover and Olympic rounds of the tournament.
Ms. Navjot Kaur represented India in the International Wrestling Tournament
held at Vancouver, Canada, in Nov. 2008.
NATIONAL LEVEL
Total 80 players participated in national level competitions. Among these 18
players grabbed Champion positions, 5 got Runners-up positions and 18 players
won second Runners-up positions.
INTERVARSITY LEVEL
85 players of the college represented GNDU for all India intervarsity
competitions, 10 players were members of champion teams, 12 players of
runners-up teams and 19 players were members of second runners-up teams.
STATE LEVEL
137 players of the college participated in state level competitions. 52 players
were members of champion teams, 3 were members of runners-up teams and 47
were of second runners-up teams.

College Handball team was awarded Rs.1 1,000/- for winning championship in the
Open Handball Tournament held at Morinda from Jan.16-18, 2009.
College Tug of War team got Rs.15,000/- as prize money for winning in various
competitions.
CAMPS ATTENDED
Approximately 70 players of various games - Netball, Volleyball, Softball, Hockey,
Handball, Judo, Wrestling, Swimming, Kho Kho & Gymnastics attended a summer
coaching camp at Palampur (H.P.) organized by Dept. of Sports, GNDU, ASR, in
May 2008.
Other Highlights
The college set up a state-of-the-art-gymnasium and formally inaugurated it on
Sept.01, 2008. The venerable patriarchs of DAV, Justice Sh. R.N. Mittal, Sr. Vice
President and Principal Sh R.S. Sharma, General Secretary, were the guests of
honour at the inaugural function. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were
Sh. M.L. Aeri, Director Colleges DAVMC, and Sh. Dhaniram, Regional Director.
The health and fitness center is entrusted to the sportswomen, other students and the
staff of the college, to achieve the goal of holistic education.
The Department of Physical Education organized a lecture on Scholarship Based
Education & Sports Coaching for Indian Students Athletes in the USA & Canada, by
Mr. Narinderjit Singh Ahluwalia, Director, American Education Opportunities
(American Sports Coaching & Education under Scholarship Programme),
Chandigarh. The lecture was well-attended by the young sportswomen of the
college.
In collaboration with the Punjab Woman Yoga Association and Shaheed Bhagat
Singh Welfare Club, the college organized the Third Woman Yoga Championship in
the Campus from Sept. 27 to 29, 2008 under the aegis of Sh. Kunwar Vijay Partap
Singh SSP, Amrithsar and Principal Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra. Smt Laxmi Kanta
Chawla, Minister for Health & Family Welfare Punjab, was the chief guest at the
opening ceremony and Prof, Dr. Jai Rup Singh, Vice Chancellor GNDU, Amritsar
was the chief guest at the prize distribution function and cultural evening organized to
mark the closing of the Championship.
35. Incentive to outstanding sportspersons
Promotion of sports is one of the major objectives and thrust area of the college. The
college is rendering very useful service to sports by producing National and International
level Players. It is providing the best infrastructure, coaching facilities, fee concessions,
free ships, attendance concessions (as per the university provision) and priority in
admission to its players to boost their performance to the highest level. Following is the
list of the facilities/incentives.
Free hostel accommodation fitted with the modern amenities of life for all the
players participating in the 38 games of Guru Nanak Dev University.
A total playground area of 1,71,524 sq. feet is available for practice and the college
is concentrating all efforts on the upkeep and the maintenance of these grounds, and
local playgrounds. Besides this , rich refreshment and diet for all the players, free
medical aid, extra diet before and during the competition is available to all the

sports persons. The college is further strengthening and enhancing this support
system for the sports persons.
The college spends a huge amount to the tune of several lacs in terms of free ships
to the state level and national level players. Besides scholarships & cash awards are
given to deserving candidates. extensive coaching facilities in all the 38 games are
made available.
The sports persons are provided free ship as per the categories made on the basis of
their previous performance. Very nominal charges per annum are charged from
them.
Many a time the college pays even for their admission fee and examination fee.
Fee concession and hostel facilities
Total 268 players have been given fee concession and 150 players provided hostel
facility in the current session.
Other facilities & funds
All the players are given kit charges and T.A and D.A. for participating in national&
Open competition.
Ms. Pardeep & Ms. Rajwant. Outstanding weight lifters of the college were selected
by Punjab Sports Department under Speed Fund Scheme. Each of them has been
getting Rs. 1500/- per month & Rs. 50/- per day for diet. Under the scheme they are
also being provided sports equipment & sports kit.
27 players of the college were selected under Day Scholar Scheme by Punjab Sports
Department.
30 players (19 of Hockey & 11 of Handball) have been selected under the S.T.C.
Scheme by Sports Authority of India (SAI). Each player will get a stipend of Rs.
6000/- per year, Rs. 300/- for competition expenditure & Rs. 4000/- for sports kit,
along with insurance cover Rs. 150/- per year.
36. Student achievements and awards
Excellence in quality in academics is the first and the foremost defining priority at the
BBK DAV College for Women. Effective, quality driven learning-teaching process,
rigorous intellectual training and meaningful motivation through the Scholars Club
orientate the students to excel in university examination and in the world outside the
classroom.
In the year, 2008-09, the outstanding academic performance in the university exams
speaks for itself as the students bagged 12 first, 16 Second & 17 Third positions in Guru
Nanak Dev university exams. 182 students of the college were placed on the Merit List

Ms. Aanchal Nayyar, a student of BA III, won the 2nd position in the Nationwide Essay
challenge on 'Role of Youth in Building Modern India' conducted by Rama Krishna
Math, Pune. She earned this position out of 650 entries made for the competition
and received a cash award of Rs.15,000/- from Honorable Former President of India.
Ms. Inder Pal Kaur, another student of BA III, won the First position in the
prestigious All India Competition Success Review (CSR) Essay Writing Contest.
Two students of the College Ms. Siya Tuli & Ms. Chitwan were awarded the
prestigious 'Post Graduate Merit Scholarship' of Rs. 40,000/- each for University Rank
Holders 2007-2008 by UGC, New Delhi.

Gandhi Grounds Amritsar.
Shruti Kumar of BA.II, a talented classical singer of the college, was on Radio
MEOW 104.8FM as celebrity, where she acted as subject expert and answered the
queries of the audience, tuned into the programme on Jun.30, 2008, from 5:00PM to
6:00PM. This budding artist has already proved herself as an asset to the institution,
by winning and performing at Baba Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, Jalandhar;
Ragsabha, Amritsar; Sunil Dutt Memorial State Level Singing Competition; Shiv
Kumar Batalvi Memorial Singing Competition, Batala; Youth Festival Zonal & Final
level. Many awards and honours have been won by her. She was adjudged Best
Singer by Rafi Society. She got the honour to perform live in a programme
conducted by all the Akashwani Kendras of Punjab and before Raj Gayak, Sh. Hans
Raj Hans. She also won First Prize in Classical Vocal in 14th Open National Youth
Festival,GNDU, held in Jan. 2009.
The college giddha team got the honour to accord a traditional welcome to
Honourable Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Mrs. Salma Ansari,
Mr. M.S. Gill, Union Sports Minister & Mr. Navjot Sidhu, MP at the opening
ceremony of 14th Open National Youth Festival held at Guru Nanak Dev University,

37. Activities of the Guidance and Counselling Units
Counselling unitheaded by Dr. Simardeep of Psychology department has provided
marital counseling and psychotherapy sessions to a large number of students having
personal problems.
The department of Psychology opened a Counselling Centre in Sep. 2008. Guidance
and Counselling services were provided by a group of BA.III students, in their free
periods, for three months regularly. A number of cases of anxiety, depression, stress,
failure etc. were successfully handled by the students, along with the teacher in-
charge.

Teaching- Learning and evaluation being the core activities of the college, best efforts
have been made to fine-tune them to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders. From
admission to evaluation to placement, the student remains the centre of all our plans and
policies as will be evident from the following practices of the college:
A transparent admission policy is practiced where meritorious students as well as
disadvantaged sections get their due.

The Youth Welfare Department of the College celebrated Teeyan- a festival of
Punjabi mutiyars, enjoying the monsoon season.
Sadhawi Ritambhara, one of the most loved saints of Modern India and inspiration
incarnate for the young generation, gave the clarion call ‘Awake, O Bharti, to the
young women on India, while addressing the college students on Jan.22,2009.
The Department of Physical Education organized a lecture on Scholarship Based
Education & sports Coaching for Indian Students Athletes in the USA & Canada, by
Mr. Narinderjit Singh Ahluwalia, Director, American Education Opportunities,
Chandigrah.

Ms. Anudeep Kaur got the rare honour of being selected by the Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India, for performance in Gidha in China. She grabbed
the limelight and did India proud, by her brilliant performance in a Cultural show,
held in China.

The meticulous planning backed by sincere efforts translated into great achievements.
Our student Manveer Kaur was selected as a member of the Indian compound
Archery Team for the first Asian compound Tournament held at Yangon (Myanmar)
in Dec. 2008. Her Team won silver medal in the tournament and she individually
won 2 Bronze medals in Allover & Olympicrounds of tournament.
Total 80 players participated in National level competitions.
Bharti Singh won 3rd position in Grand Finale of Great Indian Laughter challenge-

College organized a number of Seminars, Lectures & Conferences.
Students marched home with a number of top positions in Guru Nanak Dev
University. In the year 2008-09, the outstanding academic performance in the
university exams spoke for itself as the students bagged 12first, 16 Second and 17
third positions in Guru Nanak Dev University, total 182 students of the college were
placed on the merit list.
The placement rate has been fairly high.
Improvement in existing infrastructure & installation of new ones.

Section-D: Plans of the HEI for the next year
BBK DAV College for Woman is the preparatory campus for job skills, entrepreneurial skills
as well as life skills that aims to produce students who can handle the academic rigors with
myriad other possibilities of self-expression, in and outside the classes. The college aims to
produce out performers in academic, sports and cultural activities.
A program with strenuous academic curriculum focused on learning with the best
pedagogical tools and techniques will be designed in future.
To improve the present infrastructure and add new one to meet the requirements of
college.
New books shall be purchased and journals subscribed for the upgradation of the
library.
Technology upgradation, Research-sharing and Networking shall be carried out.
Focused attention shall be made to improve placements over the previous year.
All the resources of the college shall be directed towards the objective of exploring
the students latent potential and hone and harness the same to produce socially
responsive, intellectually awakened, morally upright and physically fit human beings
committed to the task of nation building in the globalised world.
