Buy Nothing Brandermill This past weekend, with great success, the Brandermill Buy Nothing group held their second Gathering, Gifting and Gratitude Potluck at the North Beach Pool. At least 24 volunteers were on hand throughout the weekend to assist with unload- ing, set up and loading of items gifted. The group received many items, some of which included, bikes, household items, clothing, games, and furniture. The Brandermill Buy Nothing group’s motto is “Buy Nothing. Give Freely. Share creatively.” The group offers members a way to give, receive, share, lend, and express gratitude through a worldwide network of hyper-local gift economies in which the true wealth is the web of connections formed between people who are real-life neighbors. The Facebook page is where members can post anything they’d like to give away, lend, or share. You can ask for anything you’d like to receive for free or borrow. This group is a true asset to the community where support and friends are made. If you are not already a member, you should join the Brandermill Buy Nothing group on Facebook. Please note that there is a verification process, nothing lengthy just three questions. Currently, the group has 783 mem- bers and in the last 7 days have had: 212 posts, 940 comments, and 798 reactions. We are working hard to revamp our boat pro-gram, but we need your help. We are running into some issues regarding the information currently in the system. If you have

a boat at any of the T-Rack locations, please contact the office.

The BCA now has two notaries in the office! To utilize this free service please call 804-744-1035 to schedule an appointment. We want to provide the best service possible, so an appointment will alleviate any distraction.

Harbour Pointe Roadway Project

School bus and road safety

Fall is upon us and the leaves are falling. Living in Brandermill, the Natural Place to Be, residents find themselves with lots of leaves in their yard. While raking or blowing your leaves please keep in mind that BCA Open Spaces are not the place for

those leaves.Part III of our General Covenants, Additional Restric-

tions Affecting Open Space Areas, states, “10. No dumping of trash, garbage, sewage, sawdust or any unsightly or of-fensive material shall be placed upon such Open Space Areas of Private Open Space Areas…”

Also, the Common Property Use and Access Policy states; Open space will not be used for exclusive personal or private use, to store materials, park, construct or place improvements, modify or alter in any way, for private land-scaping or dumping, clearing or cutting tress and vegetation.

The Association will not host the leaf pick up program this year. Below is a list of companies that can assist with leaf removal. The BCA does not endorse these companies and we recommend that you verify the credentials of a company prior to hiring. If you have a company that you recommend please let the office know, 804-744-1035.

The BCA office has received several calls regarding the roadway project in Harbour Pointe, and the fact that the guardrail is missing. Please know that we have reached out to the Virginia Department of Transportation, as it is their project, to let them know of our concerns. Unfortu-nately, we were not given an end date to the project and took the opportunity to stress the safety issue that a lack of a guardrail poses with winter quickly approaching. We encourage residents to “Report a Road Problem” via their website, www.virginiadot.org or to call 800-367-7623 and file a report directly. Hopefully with enough response from the community we will see quicker results.

The BCA is looking for residents to join our committees. These com-mittees help the staff bet-ter Brandermill. We are establishing a new com-mittee called “Lifestyle”. This committee will be geared towards supporting BCA activities, offering new and creative ideas for future events while helping to keep old traditions alive. If you are interested in playing a vital role in your community, please submit a Committee Member Applica-tion to the BCA office!
