Economic Assets Programme

What it means:

£300m assets transferred, 19 Sept

Over 300 assets

91 former RDA staff transferred

Established within the HCA as a ring fenced programme

Assets managed by local teams to ensure we support local priorities

Builds on HCA expertise in land and property

Page 9: Bdb pat ritchie presentation

Economic Assets Programme

The stewardship model

HCA own the assets under local stewardship arrangements

The model offers:

– LA/partner influence over use

– Removes LA tax/borrowing issues

– Local partners can align with gov’ economic growth programmes

– Avoids sales at low levels

– Offers a single point of contact for gov/partners

– Localist by aligning these assets with LA interests

“We play a key role in Governments ambition to make the best use of public land to benefit communities”

Key housing and regeneration points for LEPs to consider?

Is housing a barrier to achieving more local growth?– is supply lagging behind growth or potential growth?– is your local housing offer not adequate to attract skilled people?

Is the physical environment in your place right for business growth?– are there local assets that could be made to work better for your

area?– or, are there liabilities that are holding your place back?

Are there cross-boundary strategic planning or infrastructure issues that are affecting your places growth potential?
