Dear people,

Obesity has become a big problem in our world. To prevent it, the presidents have

decided that everyone will have to make blood test everyday using their cellphone.

Anyone who fails his blood test will be taken into health custody. Keep in mind:

this is for your well-being.

First warnings have been made to about 1000 people. Health custodies are nearly

finished and the most reluctant people will soon be sent in one of them. The

government asks you to start thinking about yourself or it will do all it takes to

make you become healthy.

Resistance teams must help each other! Get to know how your partner should eat

to succeed the blood test. Then, you will be able to find new ways of enjoying

meals! Make a collaborative brochure to help each other. Good luck in your

collaborative work.

Many people did not take the warnings seriously. Unfortunately, 200 were put into

health custody. Parents are also being very selfish by allowing their children not to

eat healthy. Since they are responsible for their children, government will use

them. They must also know that health custodies for children are being built.

Children must support each other! We still want to eat tasty!

Please, help each other to find healthy ways of enjoying food!

Breakfast in Armenia

Armenian Breakfast by Uk1

People in Armenia usually have four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and

supper.

Breakfast is very important. If you have a good breakfast, you'll get stronger!

At weekends they get up late at about 10:00 -11:00 o'clock and have a good

breakfast. They enjoy eating Armenian good honey and butter with a cup of tea or

milk. Sometimes they have boiled eggs, omelet, cereal, bread and Armenian

cheese, jam, curds, sour- cream, biscuits and some fresh juice. Their favorite dish

is eggs scrambled with tomato (it is usually eaten in summer). It's a recipe and it's

just too simple: You cut up a tomato fry it in butter and stir your eggs into it as you

scramble them. Add salt and pepper and eat with Armenian lavash (it is a kind of

bread).

The tomato -- a good tomato -- bathes the eggs in its own wonderful sauce, sort of

like built-in ketchup but fresher and better.

At workdays Armenian people have breakfast at about 7:30. As they hurry they

usually have a light breakfast; bread and cheese with a cup of strong tea, or just a

cup of coffee with some biscuits.

Hello I am Mher I want to tell you when I have junk food. I usually eat healthy but

sometimes I go to different parties, restaurants, cafes and have junk food; pizza,

fried potatoes, coke and a lot of candies. What can do? Please, help me with your

advices! Bye!

Uk1 corrects Armenian breakfast

Page 7: Be Careful, Eat Healthy!

Hello! Vegetables and cheese can be good for your health but pizza also contains a

lot of salt and fat. We think that instead of pizza you can eat vegetable salad.

Instead of potatoes it is better to eat fruit, and instead of cola drink water, juice or

milk. Eat more useful food because it only improves your health.

It is very important to have snack at midday just to keep us going. So every day

at10:30 we go to the school canteen to have something. For snack as a tradition we

usually have bread and Armenian cheese with a cup of tea. We also like bread,

butter and + with a cup of tea, rolls with yogurt, doughnuts with cocoa, fruit, juice,

and sweets.

As we spend a lot of time at school (usually 7-8 hours) it's necessary to have lunch

at midday just to keep us going. So we go to the school canteen at 13:30 to have

lunch. We usually have mashed potatoes, different salads, sandwiches with sausage

and cheese. Sometimes we have some doughnuts with a glass of cocoa. We also

like rolls, Georgian khachapuri with tea, etc..

Our traditional meal for lunch is scrambled eggs with Armenian basturma. (a wind-

dried beef specially seasoned and cured using old world recipes)

Page 12: Be Careful, Eat Healthy!

Khachapuri looks both delicious and healthy. A basturma sandwich looks

delicious but it also seems to be a bit "dry"

Maybe it would be a good idea to have a hot meal for lunch? Like soup.

Armenian lunch

Dear friends,

After we had read about Armenian lunch and had a good look at your "I don´t eat

healthy when ..." page, we had the following ideas:

Page 13: Be Careful, Eat Healthy!

1. Some of the food that you eat is unhealthy - pizza, candies, cookies and cakes.

Cocoa contains milk but also a lot of sugar, so, maybe you should avoid that too.

2. Don´t drink Coca Cola, water is much better and healthier.

3. Instead of cookies, candies and cakes, eat fruit like pineapples, oranges,

bananas, pears, apples and kiwis.

4. Instead of pizza, eat porridge or rice and meat with salad or fish and rice.

5. You can eat carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and bell peppers with

anything. And you can also just mix them together and make a salad.

6. Instead of candies and cakes, eat strawberries, melons, watermelons or other

fruit.

Enjoy!

Hi everyone,

I am Arman! My friend Husik and I try to eat healthy! In Armenia most people

prefer having dinner at home. Our Armenian mothers are excellent cooks! They

always cook for us healthy, tasty and nice dishes for dinner. E.g. dolma, well

cooked meat, fish, or chicken with potatoes, various vegetable soups and perfect

desserts with lots of vitamins! But sometimes we also go to different parties and

there we eat a lot of unhealthy things e.g. salads with much mayonnaise, pizzas,

cookies, cakes of much calories ice-creams, coke, candies, chocolate.... To tell the

truth at Christmas Armenian people kill their stomachs with too much food. We eat

very much sweets and meet, fruit, everything. Please help us with your advice?

What can we do?

Breakfast in Estonia

Estonian Breakfast by It2

In Estonia there is no very typical breakfast food. Mostly people eat sandwiches:

white, brown or black bread and cheese, ham, sausage and some tomatoes, pickles

or cucumbers. Children also eat yogurt, curds, cottage cheese and of course,

porridge, mostly oatmeal. They get free porridge breakfast (in their school lunch is

free too:) at school. This is always a sweet porridge made of rice flakes, semolina,

barley flakes and there is also some jam to go with it. Many children also eat

cornflakes for breakfast and grown-ups drink coffee. Children drink tea with honey

or milk or cocoa.

As for snacks in Estonia they eat them when they feel hungry between meals. Also,

after school at home they may grab something - an apple, a banana, some candies,

potato chips. They mostly prefer something sweet – candies or a bar of chocolate.

They are not allowed to leave the school territory during a schoolday, so they will

have to bring their own snacks and drinks (ice tea, lemonade, water, Coca Cola is

not popular any more) but they also have a cafeteria at school. The choice is not

big, they are mostly buy rolls, pastry, pies – both sweet and savoury and sugar-

coated pretzels. A very big hit is black garlic bread – these are pieces of spicy

brown bread that have been deep-fried and rolled in salt and garlic powder.

Dear friends,

Eating chocolate can be good for your health. You feel good and chocolate

contains some good chemicals. The problem is chocolate and candies are too

sweet. It can be bad for your teeth. Try to eat a little chocolate and not often.

Maybe 1 time every week or 1 time every 2 weeks. You can eat fruit or nuts

Lunch

Estonian Lunch commented by Ar2

Modern cuisine, eating habits, food, and ways of cooking in Estonia are similar to

those in other Nordic countries.

Depending on the rhythm of life, different Estonians also have different

preferences in meal times and meals. Typically, Estonian shave their most

important meal of the day, lunch between noon and three o’clock they.

At lunch, some prefer red meat and potato porridge, rice, thick flour or bacon

sauce. Others might prefer light soups, fruit and vegetable salads, pasta, chicken

and fish dishes. Pizza and fast food are also available.

Traditional meals include barley porridge with sour milk, boiled unpeeled potatoes

with curds or salted Baltic herring or smoked herring. On festive days butter,

brawn, roast pork, sauerkraut, fried cabbage or black pudding are served.

The traditional dishes and customs are still in use during the more significant

festivals of the folk calendar, the most important being Christmas. Practically

every Estonian is still very fond of black rye bread.

A typical French meal:

- The Quiche Lorraine

The dinner options look quite healthy - soup is good, red meat is better than pork,

vegetables with the meat or fish are excellent.

Quiche Lorraine looks extremely nutritious! And full of fatty cheese:) It is

probably a good idea to have a slice in the morning but late at night ... maybbe not.

Is there a Quiche Lorraine with only a little cheese? It may look something like

that:

Dear friends,

We read about your breakfast and also the times when you thought you didn´t eat

healthy enough, and that´s what we came up with:

1. All children should eat breakfast, that´s for sure.

2. Intead of unhealthy chips and crisps, you could have fruit at school.

3. Drinking coffee in the morning is more or less OK, but you should drink it more

seldom. Drink carrot or tomato juice instead - it gives you vitamins and energy.

4. You should not drink Coca Cola or other fizzy drinks. Drink milk or tea instead.

Page 47: Be Careful, Eat Healthy!

5. You also wrote that you sometimes drink wine. Not for breakfast, or what? I

think drinking red wine is OK, it´s good for you heart, but white wine should

maybe be restricted. My mother also drinks red wine:)

6. You should definitely not drink energy drinks because they are harmful to your

health and ruin it really bad.

So, always eat your breakfast and enjoy it!

Breakfast

Ukrainians eat about from 7:00 to 8:00 in the morning. Some Ukrainians have

breakfast at home, others eat at canteens, cafes. Breakfast is an important meal.

Ukrainians know it and always choose useful and healthy food products for

cooking breakfast. They eat pancakes with cream, eggs, omelet, biscuits with

coffee, tea or milk, sandwich with cheese, sausage or ham, oatmeal with yoghurt,

fruit or nuts.

Omelette

(by Vladik Rozhchenko)

Omelette is a very common dish. It is very easy to make at home. Mostly it is

Cheesecakes (Syrniki)

(by Bogdana Dankova)

This dish is considered an excellent breakfast in their daily lives, as well as a

wonderful dessert in many fairly well-known restaurants. Cheesecakes are

considered Slavic dish. Most popular simple and cheesecakes cheesecakes with

raisins, but common cheesecakes and other additives, such as carrots, apricots,

apples, pears, nuts, potatoes. To the table cheese cakes can be served on a plate or

in a pot with condensed milk, sour cream, thick fruit and berry jelly or jam. Not

sweet options cheesecakes can also be made with ketchup or mayonnaise (seldom

as usually people prefer them sweet).

Method of preparation cheesecakes:

• 300-350 grams of good cheese (cottage cheese), rarely used curd

• two eggs

• six tablespoons flour

• 2-3 tablespoons sugar

• 4-5 tablespoons sunflower oil

Page 63: Be Careful, Eat Healthy!

• a little salt on the fan

To knead the dough for cheesecakes, you need to put in a cup of cottage cheese

Unhealthy Breakfast

Sveta Sukhoveeva - 17.12.2015 08:32

In the autumn our class went on a picnic. We all were glad to see each other

because we hadn't seen each other all summer. We had a good time and everything

was good. We ate a lot of food but our food wasn't very healthy: sausages,

sandwiches, candies and we also drank Cola. We want to be healthy. What could

we do about our food?

Mher Mirzoyan - 14.01.2016 16:42

Hello Sveta! Greetings from Armenia!

I also like eating all that stuff, but as we have to change our diet and be healthier

and stronger I'll offer you to have well cooked meat(e.g. veal, beef) or chiken

instead of the sausages. You can have sweet fruits instead of candies, mashed

potatoes instead of fried. You can have sandwiches with vegetables and cheese and

drink a glass of fresh apple or orange juice instead of coke.

Dear friends we think your diet is all right. But we think you should not eat

pancakes much .Drink less coffee. Don't eat any sausages.

Snack in Ukraine

In our country people like to eat snack in school, at work, at home and in many

other places. Pupils can eat an apple, a sandwich, cookies, candies or something

like this. In school pupils can drink compote, mineral water, Coca-Cola, Fanta and

other drinks. In school canteen they sell food and drinks, but pupils prefer eating

chips, crackers and other unhealthy foods. But a lot of unhealthy food is not good

for us.

In school, students eat their snack in the school cafeteria. In the canteen you can

buy poppy cakes, cottage cheese, or jam cakes with tea. You can also buy a

hamburger in a pasty, or the sausage in the dough.

Cottage cheese sounds good, cakes and pastry not so good. However, if you are

really hungry, they make a good snack:)

Hamburger and sausage pies are nice and nutritious but maybe not so healthy. Tea

is good but maybe you could have some healthy sandwiches to go with it?

Unhealthy Snack

Dima Litvinov - 17.12.2015 12:15

We often eat healthy food, but sometimes we don't. We eat a lot of unhealthy food

on the birthday party. We eat crackers, French fries, pizza, sandwich, chips and a

lot of candies. We drink a lot of fizzy drinks. Also we eat a lot of sweets, but

sometimes on holidays we eat a lot of unhealthy food.(Dima, Kirill, Kate, Sonya)

Ukrainian snack

Dear friends,

These are the ideas that we had after we read the description of Ukrainian snacks.

We also had a good look on your "I don´t eat healthy when..." section.

1. You could eat common layered sandwiches instead of pizza. They taste just as

good!

2. Maybe you should eat boiled potatoes instead of French fries. Thay contain

much less fat:)

3. If you really like fizzy drinks, you could maybe drink carbonated water, not

Coca Cola, Fanta and Sprite.

4. Try to eat fruit (dried fruit and nuts) instead of candies. They also give you the

energy that you need. Plus they are sweet.

5. Compote, I think, is very good, especially in case you don´t add too much sugar.

6. It is not too bad to have crisps sometimes but definitely not too often.

Ukrainian Lunch by Fr3

People eat lunch between 1 and 2 p.m. Students have lunch when they come home

from school. And elementary school children eat lunch in the school canteen and

dults during their lunch time break. For lunch they eat : the first course is borscht

The second course is porridge or potatoes with meat or fish, cabbage rolls

(holubtsy), salads, burgers. And for dessert people drink tea, uzvar (compote made

from dried apples and pears) or berry compote with a pie. Traditional Ukrainian

dish for lunch is borscht with sour cream and pampushki with garlic and cabbage

Holubtsi Recipe

by Illia Malyk

Stuffed cabbage is a dish which is a meat or vegetable stuffing with rice or

buckwheat, wrapped in cabbage leaves. In Ukraine, cabbage rolls are prepared not

only with fresh cabbage leaves, but also sour, and in the spring the young leaves of

beet are often used. Instead of rice barley can be added to stuffing. In the spring to

prepare stuffed cabbage in ancient times people used young leaves of horseradish.

salt - to taste.

How to cook

Dumplings with garlic - very tasty addition to Ukrainian borscht. Mix the yeast

with flour, add oil, warm water or milk, carefully knead the dough until it will not

cease to stick to hands. Make a ball of dough and leave it in a warm place for 1

hour.

Divide the dough into portions of 40 g, and round each piece into a ball. Lay them

tightly (!) on the sheet and let them go 30 minutes in a warm place. Lubricate the

surface of the patties with beaten egg and bake for 30 minutes at 250 degrees.

While baked donuts, prepare the sauce.

Mash the garlic, add the oil, water, salt and mix thoroughly (I do this in a blender).

The sauce should be thick like sour cream. Ready donuts spread with garlic.

Ukrainian Dinner by It4

The Ukrainian students go to a big school 8th grade. They like dancing and

walking and taking part in the social events with the class. They like healthy

food but sometimes they eat fast food. Some of them like eating sweets very

much but they think that eating healthy is very important.

They eat dinner from 6 to 8p.m. with their family around one large table. They

eat boiled potatoes with meat, bacon and vegetables. Traditional Ukrainian

dishes are vareniki (boiled dough and filling savory or sweet) and golubtsy are

very popular. Some Ukrainians eat light meal like cottage cheese and kefir or

yogurt.

Vareniki

(By Yulia Stupakova)

Vareniki are one of the traditional dishes in Ukraine. Vareniki consist of boiled

dough and filling. Toppings are usually salty or sweet. They are completely

different. Savory filling - potatoes, cabbage, meat and others. The sweet

toppings are any berries that grow in your garden. For example: strawberries,

raspberries, cherries and many other berries. The most common sweet filling is

cherry or cottage cheese, and salted is potatoes, often with mushrooms or liver.

Serve dumplings with sour cream and butter.

Unhealthy Dinner

Liza Naumova - 17.12.2015 08:55

One day we celebrated New Year's Day together. We gathered at Lera's home.

Her mother cooked a lot of food.It was healthy food. At first we were at home,

but later we went to the city centre. There was a New Year's tree. On the way

we went to the cafe. We ate burgers and drank Cola. After that we went to the

shop. We bought crisps and candies there. Near the New Year's tree we met our

friends. They were eating junk food too. They had chips with them and we ate

this together. After this celebration we understood that we need to eat junk

food less, because it can be bad for our health. What did we do wrong?

To have a correct meal you should follow the instructions of the food pyramid

that shows you what you should eat often and what you should eat more rarely.

One C - 26.01.2016 11:00

For a correct dinner you should eat something healthy and light. You should

eat meat with some salad or vegetables. You should eat potatoes with fish or

some fruit. You shouldn't eat something heavy like pasta or sweets.

After that Government sent people to special places which made them healthy.

People who wanted to eat bad food decided to start a war. They had a plan how to

lie to the Government. People made tablets that could help to show wrong test's

results. They ate a lot of bad food and took tablets after that.

Soon Government knew about what they did because people were getting fatter

and their health was getting worse. Government decided to have a compromise.

People went to places which make them healthy again and they ate healthy food

but one day for lunch they could eat junk food.

After that they came back home and were happy and healthy people again.

Now they know that to be healthy they cannot eat junk food all the time.

Only a little. And only sometimes.

THE END...
