ONLY NATURALThis funky tieback doesn’t need

a ton of paint to pop. A little color

(just on the tassel) gave the project

life—without overpowering the

neutral palette. That’s right,

bare beads can bring it.

WORKADAY WISHChange up everyday home goods

like storage and craft tools with

some bead-and-spool love. Knit fix:

bamboo needles, beads and acrylic

paint. Basket bliss: spools, beads,

jute twine, paint, ribbon and paper.

HIGH STRUNGHow do you make sure happy hangs around? A simple wooden-bead garland. To keep

beads from sliding: Pass yarn through the bead, and then wrap it around bead before

passing it through again to secure.

SIGN TIMEThis homemade banner

needed a little extra oomph.

SOLUTION: We stitched

lengths of embroidery floss

to the bottom at intervals,

leaving the tails dangling.

Then we strung on an

assortment of hand-painted

beads, spools and wheels.

PICK A LOCKYou can paint an assortment

of beads, spools and wheels

to make a one-of-a-kind

keychain. And you won’t

need jewelry pliers—

just string them onto

baker’s twine, and knot

them to a lobster clasp.

BEAD BLOOMPop painted beads onto

dowel rods to make a quirky

indoor bouquet. Then wrap

the dowels with green yarn

and tuck into a clear glass jar.

BE A BAUBLEBeads and jewelry go together like eggs and bacon—so pretties like these make perfect fashion sense. For your one-of-a-kind pieces, you can alter the bare wood with everything from paint to trims to floss.
